And here's me thinking friendlys were all about getting match fitness, I didn't realise we had to beat every team in every game. So we didn't beat Alfreton, I don't care. We played two virtually different teams in each half both with lots of combinations who haven't ever played together before. Give the lads a chance to gel together and get some match fitness before you slate them!

So what if we was crap in a friendly I'll worry more if we lose when it counts. it's not like we a prem team just been knocked out of cup by them. Which might I add cup upsets happen and you never see Manchester United relegated. But this is a FRIENDLY a bit of fitness testing first after close season an assessor for new management a game closer to the team gelling. No I didn't go today but I'll add again its not like they beat us 14-0 the season. wait hang on the Owls did do very well that season.

Preseason is all about getting people fit, getting new players ( glad to say we have a fair few) to gel , trying different set ups and the like. Some things are going to work others not. This is the time Dunc726 to find that out. To say we played most of team from last season(in the same half) is rediculous. Particularly 2nd half. They may have been in team but how many got game time. Looking forward to great season. UTO

Glenn loovens contract talks have broken down. Dom howson twitter says maybe formal approach for cooper next week. it's getting a bit depressing know. but good news time lapse week 7 is out.

If I was loovren's quality I don't think of be signing until manager situation sorted. they were offered contracts by a manager that knew and respected them and they respected him.
As time runs on it looks more and more like SG walked and wasn't sacked, hence nothing in place by now.
It's a mess and I would want some certainty.

The PL have just released their retained and released lists so some of players released may be targets, also I would imagine SG and the rest of the board will hopefully have deals in place, maybe players are on hols, i'm sure over the next week or so we will see players arriving, fingers crossed

As I said on the banter site it is still early days so I have no problem with it being quiet. The transfer window only opened yesterday and players are on holiday and not thinking about football for now. Also I would rather it be quiet, better that than shouting all over the press that we are going to sign x, y and z and then other teams coming in after realising these players are now available and the risk of them going elsewhere or the price going up as the selling club realises they are more in demand. For me I am quite happy for the club to do their business in the background and then announce the players once they are ours. I would also be more worried if lots of clubs had already announced new signings and we were being left behind but I think apart from Weeds signing a couple of squad players no club has announced any signings either. Give it a couple more weeks and it will get busier as players come back from holidays and clubs decide who they want to keep and who they want to replace.

Find it hard to understand why everybody wants quick signings?
Surely what we need are the right signings and if that takes a bit longer , so what?
We do have a budget to work with this time around and the Chairmans statement of intent makes us a more attractive proposition to better quality players than we have been for many, many years,
In any case the transfer window doesn't open for registrations until July 1st!
We may have already got a few players lined up already but shouting it from the rooftops like some of our fans want would just alert the opposition,
We only need to have our squad of the right players together for start of pre-season so what's the rush?
In any case, even if we still need players after start of season the window doesn't close until Sept.1st.
Just sit back and wait for the news to break, we know it will happen.

I can see why some people are moaning about ticket prices but just think you all wanted miney pumpt into the team which is happening you all wanted a team that could push for promotion. could happen. you all wanted a better pitch and improvements to hillsbrough its happening. chansiri is a bussnes man. would you all be moaning if we get promoted and then you have to pay premire league priceses. I think not

Unfortunately that's just the way it works. Chansiri is a business man and just like any business man you have to make profit and when you dump a lot of money into something there has to be a return and the biggest place to get the money from is the ticket sales so your exactly right everyone has been screaming for higher quality players and big money signings and we've gotten some, well this is what comes from those. let's just hope they can play well together and get the results were hoping for.

Ye your right money needs to come back for what he's spent but half of players we have signed are loaned in so no fee there we've had 1 player rumoured to be 2.2 and rest just normal signing prices 300k or free so in total other than buying the club he's probably spent (I'll be generous) 3.5 mil max on transfer fees wages yes unknown so looking at that along with 1.5mil for pitch and screen where is the justification in tickets almost doubling in price. Like I say I'll be happy with ticket price if we sign a striker on a perminant basis that's the money what will justify it for me.
{Ed001's Note - what about loan fees? Were there any loan fees? I haven't looked into it so not sure, but they can be significant amounts, especially if the wages are being paid as well.}
