Reportedly signing Modou Sougou, a Senegalese winger from Marseille signing on Monday?

hOWLer

1.) 02 Aug 2015 08:26:26
Just watched his goals on you tube seems to know where the corner of the net's are , And scores some crackers.

28 Jul 2015 16:58:50
MK Dons rumoured to be interested in Atty for around £500k.

hOWLer

1.) 28 Jul 2015 17:31:09
A tough call this. Atty is not good enough for a team with premiership aspirations, but he was our top scorer last season and could possibly grab 10-12 goals this year. We are seemingly prepared to pay rather more for players with records that are no better than Atty's, and arguably worse if we consider the leagues they play in, so I think he is probably worth keeping as a squad player.

If we do sign another forward or two, then I suppose we can afford to let him go.

2.) 28 Jul 2015 18:06:43
Looks likely with Lucas joao coming??

3.) 28 Jul 2015 20:18:31
Looks like Joao might happen, I did just watch a rather long highlight reel of his and doesn't look bad. There are a few pluses here with him big, strong, fast these are things I would figure everyone would agree are good and more important age he's very young so not a whole lot of mileage on him yet. Unproven most definatly but got to get that chance sometime so who knows hopefully it works.

4.) 28 Jul 2015 22:38:55
Seen the same reel Americanowl an agree fully he's very raw but there's definitely potential there.UTO!

5.) 29 Jul 2015 09:22:29
Joao looks very promising, obviously got ability even if he does look a bit raw at times. But he looks to have lots of what we desperately need up front - pace!
I think he could develop in to a real star. Hope we can get him in before Prem clubs are alerted.

6.) 29 Jul 2015 10:26:33
I agree 100%. It might be somewhat of a project if you will but Ill take young with a lot of upside as apposed to an older player that might only give me one or two more good years. Personally i'd like him and an older experienced player but we got to take what we can get too.

7.) 29 Jul 2015 10:29:00
And yeah for sure you got to hope that the big fish don't see that this is a possibility and step in and snag him for more money then we are willing to pay also. Which makes me see why we might be so tight lipped on signings we may or may not be trying to do. Makes sense anyways.

20 Jul 2015 17:16:02
Patrick Bamford is likely to join Palace, so expect us to move on our main striker signing quickly once his move has been confirmed.

hOWLer

1.) 20 Jul 2015 18:29:37
GO ALF Adam Le Fondre is the answer always get you 20 GOALS New Kevin Philips.

2.) 20 Jul 2015 19:29:25
ALF has no future at Cardiff and has himself stated that he would like to go to a northern club, either on loan or as a permanent deal. He thinks Bolton would like him back but that they have financial difficulties. A group of Bolton supporters are trying to raise funds to help buy him.

I would think he is worth a punt especially if available on loan.

3.) 20 Jul 2015 21:08:43
You know what you're getting with ALF plus the other missing LINK is BEN MARSHALL the next Chris Waddle

4.) 20 Jul 2015 21:28:46
Forget Ben M please he did OK in div1

5.) 21 Jul 2015 02:54:29
I'd rather have Gary Hooper than ALF and as for Jordan Rhodes I don't think we're going to spend that much anyway but if we were there must be better players for that kind of money £10m, Dwight Gayle is worth £7-8m and I'm surprised Connor wickham's name hasn't been mentioned.

6.) 21 Jul 2015 12:41:02
Or Jason Koumas

7.) 21 Jul 2015 17:34:50
Patrick Bamford has gone to Palace as we expected (Apart from one "Unbelievable"?).
New Striker announcement likely in next 24/48hrs - if all goes well.

8.) 21 Jul 2015 17:41:59
No chance for Rhodes, blackburn were in the same position when he signed for them it would be a sideways step, he,ll go to boro

9.) 21 Jul 2015 17:45:24
You got some inside info??

10.) 21 Jul 2015 18:05:14
Would be nice hOWLer , Would be better if the "unbelievable" striker could have gone out to Portugal with the team. Won't have long left for bonding etc

11.) 21 Jul 2015 19:21:47
i think he'll be joining them in Portugal, Norwich.

12.) 22 Jul 2015 06:26:37
Fingers crossed

Deal for McGugan back on - fee agreed with Watford.

hOWLer

1.) 14 Jul 2015 07:09:32
Apparently McGugan had medical yesterday and was discussing personal terms last night, therefore a deal must be very close. Great news, a proven Championship player who knows the club.

2.) 14 Jul 2015 07:35:16
Thought it was only a loan deal?

3.) 14 Jul 2015 17:46:39
McGugan deal said to go through in the next 24 hours another top player through the door.

4.) 14 Jul 2015 18:37:53
Right from the start Watford weren't interested in any loan deal. So whoever signed him was going to be a permanent deal. He's already shown he'll be a great addition to the squad. Things Looking more promising than a week ago. UTO

5.) 15 Jul 2015 10:42:20
Somethings stalling the deal. I am hearing its the terms he is stuggling to agree on. he was on a nice little package in london.

09 Jul 2015 13:24:58
Reports that we have bid £4.25m for Murphy from Ipswich.
Hope that's just his agent at work, I think £5m could be better spent towards a different striker - Rhodes, Wickham, Gestede or similar.
Murphy had a good season for sure, but he's 32yo now?

hOWLer

1.) 09 Jul 2015 14:33:00
id much rather we sign Gestede if he'd come or Mcgoldrick, Rhodes or try for McCormack because it didn't really happen for him at Fulham.

2.) 09 Jul 2015 15:20:24
Hope your wrong there howler we don't want older players we want quality with plenty of years left to help build this club.

3.) 09 Jul 2015 19:11:16
£5 Million too much for a 32 year old Championship player, and there must be better value in say signing Wickham.

The asking price for Rhodes was supposed to be about £12 million, again a lot of money to splash out on one player with FFP regulations coming into play. However, Rhodes is consistent and would have more re-sale value than say Murphy.

4.) 09 Jul 2015 20:23:11
D.C. is tuna king but I also think he's a master of red herrings.look at the staff and players we have been linked with I'm just hoping this 4 million Murphy thing is another!

5.) 11 Jul 2015 09:16:38
5 million for a 32 year old guy with 1 good season, £100,000 would be a punt, 5 million a waste.
There are some good strikers for our division all been named, buy them.
I didn't think we needed a complete new team.

Pudil, Czech International left back signed from Watford.

hOWLer

1.) 29 Aug 2015 09:55:27
Got more players than we know what to do with - yet that elusive striker has still not arrived. Frustrating or what?
Don't want to live in the past , but I can't help but wonder what Stuart G would have done with all these players at his disposal - fact is we'll never know. So on ward and hopefully upward.

2.) 29 Aug 2015 14:41:56
so let's have vydra for Czech mate

3.) 29 Aug 2015 18:50:48
Think it's Viagra we need not Vydra after that first half showing today.
Noticeable difference in 2nd half when we offered more up front. He's got to change this approach , it's far too negative!

4.) 29 Aug 2015 22:58:24
I think that 29 players is great! But this changing the team every game is absolutely
No good in the championship. A settled STRONG team is what is needed to get out of this league, and I think we have been found out too quickly that we aren't physical enough. I said this on an earlier post and strongly believe if we are to progress we need to be more basic, not European, it's blood and guts to get into the prem, and that's it . No messing. And also 1 up front at hillsborough, come on!!!! Don't want to bloody moan but 20,000 with 4,000 from boro, think of those prices Mr. C. I know I seem like a moaning sod, but I only want the best and my huge expectations are leaving me a bit flat at the moment. UTO

5.) 30 Aug 2015 10:43:55
Why is mcgugan not in starting 11 he's a rock should be there.

6.) 30 Aug 2015 10:49:23
Cannot believe CC leaving Mcguggan out, as with Dodgers comments we have been buying but you can only play 11 and 3 subs.We have gone from buying very few to wasting money. Biggest problem is CC doesn't know his best 11 so he chops and changes, squad now too big. He will have to ship some out. After Saturdays performance CC looks tactically inept we didn't close down and just when we get back into the game, rather than consolidate, everyone charges forward and they get a quick second. Frustrating

7.) 31 Aug 2015 17:02:23
This is what I think, and I would like replies or comments. The back room staff at S6 are doing all the buying and loaning of players, and they are all British (as far as I know) the head coach and all his people are Portugease (as far as I know) the coaches don't know the players that are being brought in and consequently are watching all 30 of them in training and are trying to pick a team! With all respect to CC he hasn't got a clue about our championship, or the players that are being brought in. He is either going to have to learn pretty quickly, or DC is going to loose faith pretty quickly, as spending all his money is going to make him a bit trigger happy. I think there are far too many players on the books now, and keeping them all happy is a job that nobody can do.

05 Aug 2015 17:07:59
Sougou and Wiggins both signed up, it Official!

hOWLer

1.) 05 Aug 2015 17:46:11
To my reckoning that's a squad of 28 still no No3? are we expecting someone else?

05 Aug 2015 16:18:09
As supporters I think we should all note Tom Lees plea for patience today.
Like he says there have been so many changes since end of last season, owner, coach, many players, new pitch, etc-etc that it may take a little time for all these things to come together. It may not, we might get off to a flier.
But regardless we all need to stay behind the team and make sure our noise only helps them not hinders them in these early days.
It should be obvious to everybody now that the Chairman intends us to be successful so let's do our bit help make it happen. UTO!

hOWLer

1.) 05 Aug 2015 19:35:42
Well said Howler cannot remember when we have splashed this much cash must have been tricky Trevor's days. I did like the style on Saturday
we might prove a few people wrong this season. Only problem is keeping all the squad happy because everybody wants to play.

17 Jul 2015 16:34:04
The Chairman has released a statement this afternoon, obviously in response to the strong feelings expressed by many fans to the price increases.
I think if you read it with an open mind he is very sympathetic to our feelings, but equally makes the point well that the fans have to play their part in funding the improvements to our club.
Thats what FFP is designed to do, it prevents a billionaire such as DC simply throwing money at it and buying his way in to the Prem. and success.
Put simply, FFP dictates that if he is spending we have to be spending also to keep the clubs income up.
So if you've been screaming for him to spend his money on the team, top strikers, no loans etc, as most of us have, we can't really moan if we are asked for a bigger contribution on match days.

hOWLer

1.) 17 Jul 2015 20:03:29
I wish those who "disagree" would have the courage to at least say what it is they disagree with?
There are regular posters and some others who feel strongly enough, and take the time to express their views.
Its obvious there are others who's only contribution is to press the disagree button without saying why.
Its hard to have a "banter site" without alternative views - you can't disagree with that?
I'm fine with that, get it posted. But just to disagree ( and I'm sure there are the odd ones that do it over and over again to the same post- not just once!)without saying why is just pointless and childish IMO. If you disagree tell me why!
I'm running a book on how many "disagrees" this gets!

{Ed001's Note - surely it doesn't matter? Some people just want to disagree or agree without typing anything. When we didn't have the buttons, all we got is posts saying 'I agree' or 'I disagree' by the bucketload, which stopped threads being entertaining to read.}

2.) 17 Jul 2015 21:05:24
Hi Ed001:- Of course it doesn't matter if people disagree , as I say above "get it posted" and let's get the "Banter" going!
I just wish sometimes - for example when its a statement of fact , and not even an opinion! - people would express what it is they disagree with?
You can't disagree with a fact can you?
Thats all I'm suggesting. Thanks for explaining why you disagree Ed001(lol!)

{Ed001's Note - I understand and agree if they have something to say it would be better, but most of the people disagreeing do so because they have nothing to add. I know a few people will hit buttons when they are just looking quick in work and don't want to get caught out typing up something, but still want to read through.}

3.) 17 Jul 2015 21:25:53
Ed001:- I take your point Ed, I admit I hadn't considered that possibility.
Lets hope this little discussion of ours encourages a few more to post their views instead of just pushing buttons though - just don't get caught and dragged into the boss's office eh?

{Ed003's Note - Ed 001's off for now but yes lets hope so.}

4.) 17 Jul 2015 21:57:03
I think the people who disagree hOWLer havnt got a big enough argument to back it up.

{Ed003's Note - Not necessarily.}

5.) 17 Jul 2015 22:01:19
But it would be nice to hear people's opinions as to why they disagree

6.) 17 Jul 2015 23:54:55
After chansiri statement I'm now a lot happier. If reading is a grade E which I consider a top match then looks like a fair few more will be woooo I can afford to go. Makes sense we spend he spends only fair I suppose we aren't a charity after all. UTO!

{Ed003's Note - What about how away fans think about the prices ? }

7.) 17 Jul 2015 22:43:23
Thanks Norwich, and I obviously agree with you.
I'm sure the site would benefit anyway from more, and more varied, points of view.
Both in the quality of the discussions and , I would assume, revenue from the number of "hits" it gets , assuming that's how its funded.

8.) 18 Jul 2015 03:18:39
everything's a bit whimsy aren't they. I suppose if reading is cat e, then at least half the games will be cat e or lower?

9.) 18 Jul 2015 03:35:12
or perhaps the categories are purely a business tactic, & have nothing to do with the quality of games at all

10.) 18 Jul 2015 06:49:57
Just watch he'll change games category's depending on how many came previous week lol if we have bad attendance all of a sudden the game is a category E lol and vice versa. Only joking. But ED forget the away fans we don't want them coming to support their team no encouragement for them lol. UTO!

11.) 18 Jul 2015 07:41:11
lol lomas613. If we play the attractive attacking football we have been promised and our winning week in week out and look destined for promotion then I'm happy paying my share towards this glory we all want.

13 Jul 2015 19:08:59
Sunderland are close to signing a new £9m striker who has worked with Advocaat before so he will probably be his first choice striker?
Just saying?

hOWLer

1.) 13 Jul 2015 21:56:07
Mate if we equals favourites like internet saying on buying Bamford I would eat my hat and go to work naked if we spend more money and buy Wickham. I can't catch my breath never known owls spend as much

2.) 15 Jul 2015 11:02:42
Sunderlands new £9m striker , Jermaine Lens, having his medical today for those who didn't believe my post a couple of days ago.
Just saying!

Happy New year to you too South, and all our other posters and fans.
Dont do much that resembles "dynamism" these days I'm afraid - but we enjoyed it all the same thanks.
Like the greater majority of our fans I'm totally delighted with the way the season has gone so far.
Like the pros always say - we can only take it one game at a time - but I am as ever the very patient optimist!
All the best All!

Boltons whole team has only scored 19goals in 25 games?
He's got 3 from probably half a dozen or so chances!
Clough scored 6 in 10 games last season! that's prolific enough surely.
I would really love us to get him, but he'll go to a Prem club, probably Everton, Newcastle or Palace who see the real value and enjoy nurturing talented young players with loads of promise like young Zach.

Relax South for your healths sake please.
Wheres that nurse with the "chill-pill"? (LOL!)
Any comments I make on here are are not directed at anyone in particular, except when a comment is addressed to me BY NAME as yours have been , then expect me to respond - always politely , always factually, and never personally.
As for tell AmOwl? . you really are bitter if you can remember something I may have said nearly two years ago better than I can, and refer to it now totally out of the blue? Where did that come from?
But does my opinion really matter that much to anybody? Does anybody care?
I'm sure AmOwl has his own opinions, as you and everyone else does, thank God! - and long may it continue!
Finally, just to set the record straight, and clear up another inaccuracy of yours, I hate the tick boxes!
If you actually follow my posts as closely as you claim to do, you must remember an "actual published discussion" that I had with one of the Eds on here quite recently, many will remember it I'm sure, where I suggested we should do away with them? I personally don't see the point of them, much less encourage anybody to use them.
I don't use them at all, if I disagree I post why, and I wish everyone else would do the same, there would be many more contributors and different views.
I have only responded for the sake of accuracy again, and because you addressed me directly again! I have no wish, and never have had, to cross swords with you or anybody else on here. I just comment and post my opinions as I see fit and hope that adds something to the debate.
Agree or disagree I honestly don't care, but for whatever reason you've tried to make it personal? I don't know why but I hope you now appreciate its not what I've written, its what you think you've read? If I or anybody else disagrees with you its not personal, its because they have their own opinion which is different to yours, and that's allowed isn't it! Why take or make it personal? Move on!

Not a post South, just a reply in order to be polite, because I keep reading you saying don't make it personal? Others can judge?
So if I can briefly summarise what could easily be mistaken for your bitter rant - you don't after all have any alternative but to be patient, like the rest of us stupid, ignorant dinosaurs, and wait for the Chairman to sort it out? Thanks for the wisdom.

I'm personally more confident now, with these three matches yet to play, then I was on the way to Wembley to face Hull last year.
Your point about - having time to build to survive - as you know is always a problem for sides who get up through the playoffs and I'm sure it will pose us some problems too.
But we do have a large squad and a determined and generous Chairman who will have been making sure that somebody was working on the necessary ins and outs to make us more Prem-fit, whether its this time round or next.

I've seen 3 separate video interviews where he tried to say the same thing , but being Portuguese surely we can accept that English is not his first language?
It was obvious what he meant was that when it was 1-1 he would have been very disappointed if we had finished with a draw because we were so much on top we should have gone on to win! So to finish up losing felt very cruel .
I should also add that the 2nd and 3rd goals were very bad errors from two of our old boys, our fans favourites, so not sure how the Coach gets the blame for that. Even the best players (and fans) make mistakes sometimes?
I thought it was a terrific performance from us at a very tough place to go.
I'm still not convinced by Carlos & Co but nobody can make a valid judgement after 6games with 15 new players coming in, nobody can.
Lets see how we are shaping up end Nov - early Dec, we'll know better by then.

Well said Braintree, echoes of my post of last week. Sick of hearing about 20 goal strikers! Its the start of the season so they're all 0 goal strikers, they can only be 20 or 25 or 30 goal strikers at the end of the season!
Some of our fans obviously can't recognise that with the change of style, having an "old-fashioned goalscoring target man" is not necessary, in fact it would inhibit the way we are playing.
We are now playing a more expansive style of football, with the forwards main role to bring the runners in to play, and Atty and Joao have done a good job of that in these first couple of games as well as scoring themselves! that's why the goals have been spread about and hopefully will be all season. The set plays are proving productive also.
If we can maintain this form and develop, I think we might well finish the season with two or more of our current players getting 20+ goals.
Matias could/should have had 4-5 already! Joao will be in double figures! Bus will make a big contribution once he's fit! Even Atty looks like beating his tally of last season! IMO!
To repeat what I said last week - it doesn't matter who scores the winning goal so long as somebody does!
If that needs explanation for some, does it matter if its a players 1st goal of the season or his 31st goal of the season, if it wins the match, its still 3pts.
