If the agents will not allow players on their books to train, the question arises: who is employer who the employed in this relationship?

high green owl

1.) They are notcovered by contract so have no employer. It sounds as though contracts have been agreed. If a player has an injury which means a long lay off before signing contract, would we be prepared to pay him high wages if not available for season. , if not we may not sign leaving player without a job ad no chance of getting one.
Can actually see Agents point of view. Does not make it easy for Gray.

2.) 03 Jul 2014 05:49:08
Please note that question related to "this relationship" and not to employment contracts with a club. The employer is generally the one who pays money to the other. I doubt very much that it is the agents who are paying the players.

3.) 03 Jul 2014 10:31:39
For those saying there won't be any players coming in you need a reality check. We are on the 3rd of July and only 3 days into the new transfer window. More importantly than that is the size of our squad to which I have more players registered for my Sunday team. We will add and we need to add as we would struggle to fill a bench with any injuries. To me there is nothing dodgy in the takeover bid and league ratification as stated at the start of the takeover takes time. If the Leeds takeover was allowed I believe that ours will sail through. According to the bookies it looks as if we are starting to lose Jordan Rhodes. Hope not, another disappointment in the offing? Can it be just the money or something more? Observations, please.

1.) 21 Jul 2015 17:43:44
The Bookies don't know any more than we do High Green, they're just reacting to the number of fans betting.
If we're putting up the money, it will be decided on whether he wants to come here or not. The player always decides at the end of the day.

2.) 21 Jul 2015 17:50:05
I think you got it right with MONEY just can't see D.C. spending 10 million on one player??

3.) 21 Jul 2015 17:50:55
Absolutely no chance Rhodes is going to sign, blackburn were in the same position as us when he signed for them, money to spend, promotion push etc, it would be a sideways step, he,ll go to boro or a low premier club,

4.) 22 Jul 2015 01:41:09
the deal with Rhodes has already been agreed just waiting for him to be fit. We still need another proven scorer

5.) 22 Jul 2015 10:14:13
And may I as where you acquired this information as we would all like the proof

I see that we have had to learn from The Star that Cavalhal's contract has been agreed. All this time the bookies and the press both local and national have been better informed than we supporters. Dave Jones never understood either that it was a good idea to keep the fans on board rather than to treat them with disdain.

1.) 18 Jun 2015 20:00:08
Yeah . fancy informing the press,What's wrong with ringing us all individually?. or a personal visit from the chairman setting out his plans

2.) 19 Jun 2015 06:15:23
Yet again Brightonyowl ,in your attempt to seem superior, you fail to take the point. I did not claim that the press and the bookies were deliberately being given advance information by Wednesday, nor did I make those juvenile suggestions about personal contact. To answer questions or statements that were not made and then to ridicule them is neither witty nor even clever. The point is that while journalists and bookies were able to find things out, we were kept in the dark.

3.) 19 Jun 2015 07:07:59
isn't that what journalists do for a living? Find things out?. then they let others know.Think that's how it usually works.im sure the club will make announcements when they're ready to.When they are I think you'll find they'll inform the press. relax.

If the bookies have closed their books, presumably because they know a deal has been done, then why don't the fans know?

Mr.Chansiri says that he holds no grudge against Adam Pearson. I do.
Obviously one cannot expect loyalty these days, but we are entitled to expect decency. Pearson has almost immediately walked out on Wednesday to join one of our chief rivals, taking with him detailed knowledge of our contacts, plans and transfer targets. Not pleasant.

Have you read that sour and mischievous article in the Star written by Danny Hall ? What nonsense ! Stuart Gray knows full well the value of Semedo and while it is true that the signing of Melo provides competition, it is not true or even implied that Melo is the preferred man. In fact as a combative defending midfielder and centre back he is the duplicate of Sam Hutchinson- if of anybody. Stuart Gray likes to have players who can play in a number of positions for the sake of flexibility, competition and cover.

Yet another right-sided defender! Is Helan to look after the left hand side all on his own?

July the First approaches. Maybe there will be a burst of activity - but I'm not holding my breath. As to McGugan -does anyone know the figure being asked and if it is reasonable or outrageous? Like any player he must have a ceiling value. Quality midfielder but there has always been a nagging doubt about his maintaining form beyond the initial period. That doubt must affect the value.

Before this signing was made we had no cover at all for central defence. It is a sensible move. Bearing in mind Chansiri's determination to play attractive football, can it also be that we are looking to play three at the back with a ball-playing defender?

If Cavalhal is, as we expect, the next manager, then surely it will be the result of Chansiri's taking advice. However you look at it, it is a bizarre decision and deeply unsafe. Only a committee could produce such a choice. Take another look at your committee Mr.Chansiri.

This fellow has already managed 13 clubs and, obviously, not stayed long anywhere. Hope you are wrong. Would have marked the "unbelievable " box, but these days, who knows?!

There was a press report some days ago saying that McGugan had asked for a loan move away. How true, I do not know. However, to the Carvalhal situation: how many wonder if we are entering a re-run of the Dave Jones situation - when some of us were shouting early for his removal only to be rebuked for our lack of patience and even accused of disloyalty to the club. Last night we were told that it was another good show on the road - but Bolton had more corners, more shots on goal and hit the bar. Mere statistics? Actually statistics matter - they get us promoted or relegated. The Fulham game is critical- surely we can and must win that one. If we don't,then what?

We hear a lot about early days and having patience, but let's face it : we said at the time that Carvalhal was a bad appointment and brought with him a poor record. To complain now is not a snap response to a few results.
We all understand about strength in depth but that strength has to be put to good use - cover for injuries, suspensions and loss of form : that against the background of a settled side, not an opportunity to jumble it all up week on week.

Hopefully he intends to play two strikers at last. A little worried about our recognising the difference between strength in depth and overcrowding. Clearly we are carrying players who will rarely ,if ever, get off the bench or even on it. Time to move some on.

Agree : only a friendly and nothing to get too excited about. However, one little niggle. Being beaten put down to individual errors. Now,where and how often have I heard that before? Hoping devoutly that we don't start hearing about learning curves too. Any way should be an interesting season.

Can some kind person explain to me (in terms of dates} what is meant by "After the Summer transfer Window"- the phrase used by the bookmakers. Does that mean not within the transfer window?
