According to reports in various Nationals, McGugan wanted to come, but talks broke down with Wednesday as Watford wanted a big fee for him. (Even though they are trying to off load him to fund other targets.) It makes you wonder how much DC is putting into the playing side, if we can't afford the likes of McGugan. That and £75000 being a stumbling block over compensation for Cooper.
Worrying times in some ways. Remembering back to the start last season we had got nobody in hardly, and most thought we'd be relegation fodder. This season, we have the second signing almost through the door, (quality yet to be decided - as it was when Lees came last season, even though some said he'd been rubbish for Leeds) with more to come. So although there are a few concerns to be answered, I'm sure we'll have a better end to the season than this time out. Onwards and upwards. UTO

With the mess we are in trying to get a manager in, I don't honestly think now is the time to assess what our intentions are on the playing side.
Lets face it half of us are saying we should let the new manager pick his own players not Roeder, and the other half are saying we haven't signed anybody yet even though we still haven't got a manager?
I'm as sick of the situation as anybody else is, as you can see from my posts, but I would much rather the Chairman involve the new manager in deciding which we go for, at least then he can be fairly judged on how good a job he's doing. If that means we have to wait to get the players in, so be it IMO.

Sorry wrong post in wrong place.

On Kramer - looks like it's a bit to rich for us and Charlton are stepping in. Good grief!

If you are a footballer and have a choice London or Sheffield your choice would be.
Let's be optimistic give Carlos and DC a chance we don't know any actual facts come on let's see how we start the campaign

July the First approaches. Maybe there will be a burst of activity - but I'm not holding my breath. As to McGugan -does anyone know the figure being asked and if it is reasonable or outrageous? Like any player he must have a ceiling value. Quality midfielder but there has always been a nagging doubt about his maintaining form beyond the initial period. That doubt must affect the value.

An egotistical owner who just wants to own a club with his name on he front of the shirt which will be screened world wide. Stevenage and Walsall wanted Lachmann as well as us so he's hardly going to set the world of football on fire. We can't afford 75k compo for Cooper and Carvalhal is a 13 club manager coming for free as he's currently not wanted by any other club as a manager. We've offloaded Buxton as he was one of our top earners and the increase in price of season tickets and replica kits is no doubt paying for most of the new pitch and screen not Chansiri although he's reveling in the praise. This is a very worrying time for all us loyal Wednesday fans.

Strad - work out what 15 000 x £500 season tickets adds up to. (Clue £7.5m)
Wages and salaries alone were around £10-12m but will obviously be more this year and going forward.
Lots of other incomings and outgoings associated with a Championship Club but regardless of all that - hardly any of the clubs outside the Prem make a profit , and if they do its a small one.
Thats why he/we want to get there and not stay in the Champs.
The name on the shirts was probably his way around the FFP Regs not "ego"!
It would allow him to put more money in to the playing side in these first couple of years without falling foul of the rules.
Please tell me how you think Mr Chansiri is not paying for the pitch and scoreboard when its his club?
Whatever comes in and goes out is down to him, and if he spends anything it comes off the profit side of the balance sheet , so its his money.
Mr Chansiri is making lots of mistakes at the moment, we can all see that.
But he has to get it sorted , not just for us, but for himself.
He's already spent more than £30m we know that much don't we?
So he wants to get it right - obviously!
So give the bloke time to find a way through this current mess and put it right.
If he doesn't then we'll all be having a pop believe me.
But we're a couple of years away from judging him, let's see how close we are then to where he said he wanted to be

Disagree,

A couple of years! We start preseason tomorrow with eleven playerS who will be training with the under 21's.

Plus, while I get its 'his' club no, he's bought it, but that's viewing is as a product - without fans he's bought an empty stadium and at the moment empty training ground, so this is a two way street.

So if he charges us more and then spends that extra on scoreboard and pitch I don't see him as investing in us either.

So what do you want Des?
You don't win the League in pre-season?
Its where you are at the end of the season that matters - not the beginning!
Or more accurately not even the beginning for another 5weeks!
I'm not sticking up for him either - these are just facts!
We can only judge him against his aims!
His stated aim is to try to get us back in the Prem by 2017 - therefore we can only judge him then? Surely?
Unless of course we don't win a game before Xmas, then Mr Chansiri will know only too well without us saying anything that he's not got it right.
The main point I'm making is that he wants to do what he said and get us in Prem - that's why he's bought the club - anything less than that will cost him a fortune!
People with billions don't get it by throwing away tens of millions.
As for the charging extra, well we all have a choice to buy or not, and he will be too well aware of that as well , he's a businessman.

The players being produced by Roeder are to a man on the downgrade. Been told 5 names we are chasing I have not heard of any of them and can honestly say they are a very uninspiring lot. Clubs willing to offload as they were not in team last year and failed to deliver in league. Championship rated 5th best league in Europe and we are looking at second division players in Holland, Portugal; We appear to be spending money on extensive off field team. Roeder, Hill, Senior, Carvalhal, Specialist fitness trainer, Technical coach (these two from Portugal with CC, names unknown. Cooper and now Mike Marsh linked as they are after two coaches who know English football. This is looking more like a disaster every day, somebody needs to tell Chansiri you need good players, good scout and good coach to win promotion. current is a recipe for relegation. I will leave you with the thought we are in talks to sign Reuben Noble Lazarus a striker from Barnsley. Yes he is a Barnsley reserve who scored one goal in 13.
