Who do we need and who's surplus?

We have too much wage invested upfront, big Lucas and Dave can go; Winnal, foresteiri, Rhodes, fletcher and hooper is still pretty impressive.

Abdi and reach, have something to prove this season to keep their pay.

We definitely need a Cb.

The squad is strong, have value for once, so we can expect to receive fees for most players which hasn't always been the case. Meaning I wouldn't be too against loans this season.

Any thoughts?

{Ed033's Note - yes it is still a live site.

Wow. It's dead then? No swfc bothered about banter, rumours or general discussion about the massive.

Morning folks,

How interested would we be on Nick Powell, apparently in talks with Blackburn. Wouldn't be a bad addition for free.

Also Rhodes is apparently for sale. It would be an expensive signing but Hooper, Forestieri and Rhodes would be unmatched in the league.

Conversation starter:

If we were to get to playoffs and get promotion, who is good enough for premier?

Would we be happy up front, forestieri and hooper look pretty awesome currently, but both have only warmed the bench in the Prem.

Any thoughts?

For me Westwood, lees, pudil, bannan, lee, Wallace, forestieri, hooper and Lucas j would get in 1st team.

2.) 01 Apr 2016 09:58:47
Doubtful about Wallace not sure how he gets a game at present started well but fading badly.

I'd have Hutch in and I know all his faults but he's class.

3.) 06 Apr 2016 21:21:51
Wallace didn't do too bad against Blackburn in fact he has done well most of his games? / UTO.

Thing about this above comment as soon as someone can reflect and chose things like this they don't remember a player for the season what he does for team they remember any mistakes casting more doubt on the player. I for one believe Wallace would more than manage in the premiership as would most of our players. At one but Joao was attracting apparent interest from Everton but his for drops and no longer. A player can't just have it one min and lose it the next you have to see them as a whole. Wallace brings promotion experience calm head etc to the team so his valuable advice is more than enough to keep him in your squad regardless of what division. this team is he best team I've seen for a long time I don't believe any player deserves any criticism because they've all been ace and to me they can hack it. For 10 min here and there for bench warming for their experiences for their callings influences I could go on but this collective team all plays their part which a team like this would be vital in premiership. UTO.

What's the thoughts on new strikers. Clear that SG (and us) not happy with the returns this season. But when playing 1 or two up top someone will have to go?

Deswaddle

1.) 08 May 2015 09:27:03
If one has to go surely it's Big Dave, I feel Stevie May could still come good and is more adaptive to varying the attacking play. can't take away the goals that Nuhiu has scored this season but if we are serious about promotion we have to be looking at proven strikers with an eye for a chance. eg. Jordan Rhodes, Connor WIckham,

2.) 08 May 2015 14:50:19
Des, my thoughts are as follows:
Nuhiu is not much admired but at least he scores more than the rest. Give him one more season. Of the others certainly retain Bus for the future. Do not re-sign Keane and face facts : May is not the answer. I would rather pass him on than lose Lavery.

3.) 08 May 2015 16:54:06
Connor Wickham as almost signed for 4.5m. Ince will be next and there as been word that Adam Le Fondre could also signing to UTO

4.) 12 May 2015 19:21:38
Wishful thinking, but no way!

Does it prove that May sale and not signing Keane was the right thing, because I'm not worried about facing them as a pairing today!

Onwards and upwards.

On that note, none of our sales have gone on to perform so far this season? So, have to say that it must have been good business.

Magwama scored on Saturday lol and madine but them goals seem to be once in a blue moon or should I say blood red moon, haha.

Couldn't get to the game today, but at least you can rely on the bbc, to give you the detail - makes you feel you were actually there:

'Keiren Westwood had already done well to keep out an early Barry Bannan header before Fulham's Fernando Forestieri nodded past him.
Complacency let Jamie O'Hara level from distance, before Tom Lees' downward header between Westwood's legs.'

makes it sound like a game of cupties. And forestieri must have swapped shirts early.

"If you ask me if I'm happy with the draw, probably I would say I'm a little upset with the draw."

Football must be different in Portugal, but losing 3-1 isn't drawing.

Deswaddle

1.) 15 Sep 2015 09:29:18
In all fairness that could have been a typo mistake by the editor.

2.) 15 Sep 2015 12:00:27
I've seen 3 separate video interviews where he tried to say the same thing , but being Portuguese surely we can accept that English is not his first language?
It was obvious what he meant was that when it was 1-1 he would have been very disappointed if we had finished with a draw because we were so much on top we should have gone on to win! So to finish up losing felt very cruel .
I should also add that the 2nd and 3rd goals were very bad errors from two of our old boys, our fans favourites, so not sure how the Coach gets the blame for that. Even the best players (and fans) make mistakes sometimes?
I thought it was a terrific performance from us at a very tough place to go.
I'm still not convinced by Carlos & Co but nobody can make a valid judgement after 6games with 15 new players coming in, nobody can.
Lets see how we are shaping up end Nov - early Dec, we'll know better by then.

3.) 16 Sep 2015 21:53:52
I agree with hOWLer about individual mistakes costing us, but my big and major worry is that CC doesn't know the championship and the teams and way they play, and worry just who is giving him the info to pick the team that in his words he feels will win that particular game. It can't be easy, but after working every day in training with the players he has at his disposal I would have hoped for a bit better by now.
I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but like most other supporters when new players were signed we all go on you tube and see the best bits of each individual and expect and hope it will happen! Maybe me and a lot of others are expecting it all a bit quick, but once again I say sitting 18th in the league and drifting a bit is worrying. It's only because me and everyone else on here cares so much and craves the good times that we post these comments. I'm 54 and want some good times again, it's never easy supporting the blue and white wizards but just every now and then it's unbeatable, and I want that feeling again. UTO

My how the squad has changed yet our frustrations haven't.

Still looking for the elusive 20 goal striker, despite signing 2 strikers already. Bus and may yet to get an appearance?

Lachman, another signing not made match day squad yet. Turner and prudil(?) signed in what looks to be our strongest position (necessary?)

Got some money and thrown it around, not sure we spent it well?

From a tic-tacs point of view; we still only playing one up top, despite having an abundance of strikers. The rationale for SG having to go was to change to free-flowing, exciting attacking football.

(Posted with a terrible hangover, someone counter with the positives!)

Cant counter Des you are so right, plus Mcguggan has to play

2.) 31 Aug 2015 13:47:26
McGugan has had some time off for arrival of their new baby!

08 Aug 2015 19:49:38
Who was asking for goals from corners.

2 goals, none conceded - none from a striker. 3 points closer!! (A bit early?)

I asked for goals from corners and I got just that, brilliant! UTO

Never been prolific in anyway and not sure that it improves us. Prior to us spazzing a load of money I would have said yes, but if reports are true and we have enough to bid doubl figures for Rhodes or McCormack, then I can't see the point in not improving.

Decent player and would want him, but he's the hard working type. I want a lazy, talented striker, who adds nothing to the team but goals.

We shouldn't really need anyone. We have signed enough new players in all positions, if we are going to sign 'better' players why the kid in a sweetie shop approach.

We've signed three strikers, yet still 'desperate' to sign the right one. So, let's stop signing the wrong ones then?

First bus home I think.

I'm 34 and would say this is possibly the weakest back 4 I've seen for England, it's a big worry for me.

That and the obsession of fitting Rooney in.

Im hoping to be surprised, but when our best defender is Chris Smalling I'm worried.
