Maybe it's just me but I think mm needs to move on I thank him for saving the club but I don't thank him for the lye he keeps telling us. he lacks ambition in my eyes how can Barnsley Yeovil Carlton millwall had to there squads when they are getting less crowds than us don't have the big support don't sell enough season tickets or merchandise it's a joke, I mean the takeover is a lye the 5 man short list was a joke time for you to pack up take a loss on you investment and do what you said you would do that's the best for us fans and Sheffield Wednesday

I completely disagree, the reason we didn't improve the squad is because we actually have some good players in the side, that already have competition, and with Afobe coming in, and Wickham possibly coming back at a later date, we have a pretty good looking side, MM has to be reasonable the club is losing money each year, if MM throws money at it we'll not only be back in L1 but we might enter Administration.

2.) 01 Feb 2014
I completely disagree SensibleOwl - in effect you are trying to say we didn't improve the squad because its good enough already?
Sorry but are you for real?
Arsenal - Chelsea - Man United - ManC - all still recruiting to improve but you think we good enough?
Only one reason we are not recruiting, that's Milan couldn't or wouldn't find his wallet?
And regardless of what you think or MM says Sheffield Wednesday are no worse off than any of the other Champs clubs who have strengthened their squads!

Firstly, Arsenal didn't sign anyone in the January transfer window, secondly, you do realise the difference between Premier League and Championship? In the Premier League you can buy players for ridiculous amounts of money because they can afford it, we as a club cannot afford any more in the wage budget, we would have to let players go, and personally I would prefer players that know each other, and can play together than a team of new players that one; cannot understand each other, and two; have no idea how to play together. To me it seems like you don't know the first thing about how football and economics work.

4.) 01 Feb 2014
Actually I said improve the squad, never said anything about ridiculous amounts of money.
The point was no matter who you are, or where you are, you still have to try to improve.
The great Bill Shankly once said " If you try to stand still in football you go backwards ".
I'll leave others to judge which approach makes most sense!

Real owl, you say you want mm to move on. Well there has to be a suitable buyer for that to happen and mm has made no secret of his desire to sell. So what do you actually want him to do, push the keys to the ground through the letter box as he leaves?
also be careful what you wish for, could end up with one of the many shambolic consortiums getting involved with football clubs.

6.) 02 Feb 2014
BTW - Arsenal signed a Swedish midfielder.

7.) 02 Feb 2014
Okay, but do you think Manchester United would have bought Mata if they didn't have the money? No because they wouldn't have been able to afford it, we already have a decent squad for the championship, we have next to no money to spend, so unless we sell we cannot buy, that is my point about the obscene amounts of money the teams you said all have it to spend, we on the other hand do not, and anyone who says we do have the resources needs to pull their heads out of their a** and take a good hard look at the world.

{Ed002's Note - You put nonsense like the last sentence in again and your posts will get deleted.}

Real owl.
I admire the irony in your namesake.
We have beaten and are above all of the teams that you mentioned.
So apart from that, great point, let's hope MM goes.

Real owl I am certain is not in touch with reality.
Investment which the teams you mentioned have made is window dressing and based on a panic situation.
Whatever anyone says MM does not panic also investment placed in backroom operations does not make popular press headlines but if you want succesful club is essential. The investment in Academy and Development suads has been significant and for first time in years we have promising players on horizon. Also scoutig and coachng networks have been significantly ramped up.
DJ new what we should have a pity he did not know how to utilise them. Gray has shown what can be achieved by current squad as he did when he came in to coach last year.
Terry Burton also showed what improvement a good coach can make when he arrived with DJ when we were in L1.
I genuinely believe if DJ had just let Gray carry on as he had done when he first arrived we would be in comfortable mid table position with squad we have.
To MM's credit he realised where the problems were and removed DJ and his number 2 Paul Wilkinson and put Gray in charge.
I find it strange people post such rubbish and then use examples which clearly illustrate the folly of what they are saying.
Can I ask folks to just take a step back and look at wider picture rather than thinking club X has signed a player we must respond.
To use well established Premier clubs as examples of investment is like comparing chalk with cheese.
If you look at Wigan who are a well run club and in receipt of parachute payments, they have made several astute loan signings this season and with good coach in charge I will expect them to climb table and challenge for play offs. We get numerous on here comment about use of loan system but it gives you access to talent which you would be unale to otherwise afford. By the way it is not just the fee of the players the wages are also a major issue.
Apologies to those owls who are aware of above but it appears necessary to teach some to suck eggs.

M. M. did not throw good money around during the transfer window and yet I think we have bettered the squad. I would have been overjoyed if Wickham and Fryatt had returned but Adofe did his bit and the workhorse Nuihu did his usual charging around upsetting the defenders. He like Llera is a wholehearted trier of a player and every team needs one or two of these types of players. McGuire has really hit a purple patch and is even being talked about with a Scotland squad recall. We have two of the best keepers in the league but we lack centre halves would can keep fit, but when available Loovens and the yank are all right. Buxton should get his place back when fit with Palmer moving forward to partner Lee and Semedo in midfield and push McGuire into a solo position behind two front players. With McGuire in this hole behind a strong from two plenty of loose balls should come his way and with his willingness to give the ball a crack at goal things should and will improve. Safety is imperative this season anything else will be a bonus. A wee bit of buying and tweaking of the squad and things should be fine for a push onwards and upwards next year. S. G. appears to have the lads playing for him and each other and with heart and spirit, so M. M. for gods sake back him with what ever money is available and let him do his job. We the loyals will thank you for this.
