I think they bid £12m but Blackburn rejected it because they don't want to sell to a Championship rival.

Boro bid £9m plus extras, based on them getting promotion and staying in premier league, which could then rise to £14m. Blackburn rate him at £12m and want the money guaranteed - as they are about to make the final £2m payment to Huddersfield and want to make a profit on him. Rhodes himself rejected a previous move from Boro as HE didn't want to move to another Championship club. But no Premiership club have shown serious interest - so he might not have a choice.
I think his wages (Nearly £40000 a week) would scupper any move to Wednesday. So still open as to who, if anyone, will signed in striker role before christmas. If they had got a striker in mind, I would have thought he would have been signed in time to go out to Portugal with the rest of the squad. Otherwise we'll be listening to variouds excuses for why he isn't putting the ball in the back of the net(as in May)- wasn't here for preseason with us, got to settle into championship football, and the rest of the excuses they trot out. Still I think we'll be ok this season, even if it does take a few games for the team to gel. Certainly top 10 finish, if not play-offs. UTO
