RC Lens have had their appeal against the FFL's decision to refuse their promotion upheld, and a recommendation that their promotion to the top tier should stand has been made to the French Football Lge.
The FFL must now decide whether to reverse their earlier decision and allow RC Lens to take their rightful place next season.
Hope this helps allay the fears of some of our doom merchant fans?
Perhaps our (spoof) Lens fan might like to give us another post?

During the next four and a half weeks we have nine games, we are 8 out field players short from last season, a further three players who missed nearly two weeks of pre season. When will this club learn the lesson, if you do not have the staff you get few points up to Christmas, we have only survived borrowing Premiership strikers. If you start pre season with less than 12 outfield players, that's what you call doom merchant time. Forget the takeover, look at the big picture.

He might be back off his hols now howler .

South owl - the takeover IS the big picture!
That is the very reason why we have not been able to grow the squad - yet!
We'll be fine - this is the real world and you can't have everything you want NOW!
Things that are worth having, are worth waiting for.

Nice one S20, you picked up a couple of quick "disagrees" so you probably right!

5.) 26 Jul 2014
Can't have everything now, it would be nice if for one season at least if we could buy decent players not past it 30 something's and have them in before pre season tour starts, looking like our marquee signing may be Andy Johnson.

Howler

Just relax, this is a site for opinions, and rumours OK. Just chill mate. I too would love everything to fall in place, have a full squad of quality players, look as if we are away to a flyer, tell me is that what you see. I saw my first Wednesday match in 1951, I think therefore I am in a reasonable position to have an opinion worth its salt, but thanks for your illuminating thoughts on all matters Wednesday, and remember this site is a team game. One final thing please tell me that you have inside information, then I can go away and just watch quality players appear between now and Christmas.

South Owl
I'm totally relaxed, I was responding to your comment about "when will the club learn a lesson", because I realise that the situation changes from season to season, and I'm judging from where we are today, i. e. not even at Day1 yet with the New Regime!
So we can't compare this pre-season to last pre-season, or any other season before, and you or somebody else will have to explain to me how we are supposed to increase the playing staff until the governing body have given us the OK to do so?
Not that it counts for anything at all, but I was 11yo when I went to my first game in Spurs double winning season 1960-61 when we finished runners-up, but as I say that or any other season since, has nothing at all to do with anything that's happening today has it South Owl.

So dealing with the present, the here and now, what your take on the present squad and its ability to challenge for say the play offs. We were at the same match in 1960/61

It's clearly obvious what will happen over the next few months due to the lack of players and failure to improve the squad. We end up propping the league up as per usual and poor old SG gets the sack. I for one won't be blaming SG if and when it happens.

10.) 26 Jul 2014
The current squad is totally inadequate, everybody, even with half a brain, would acknowledge that.
But that same person should also realise that as as soon as we are in a position to, we will be bringing in players of a much better standard than we have seen in the recent past, and we will be constantly striving to make a steady improvement in the squad and performances, month on month, year on year.
The new owner has not had the chance to tell us his plans in full yet, but he has let it be known that he has ambitions to take us to the Prem, and the Lens promotion in his first year in charge should indicate that he doesn't seem the kind of guy to hang around?
BUT he can't even start that process until he is ALLOWED to start!
IMO - We as fans should look at the facts, take no notice of the gutter press, accept the situation for what it is - i. e. totally out of the clubs control! and be just a LITTLE patient.
Let HM get hold of the reins and have a go at driving us forward before we start condemning anybody or relegating our team a month before we've even kicked a ball. that's all I ask.

Are you talking about the size of the squad, or the quality of player or both. What would you suggest in millions would make us competitive and in line for play offs. I was thinking anyone with the other half of a brain would be thinking 15million over 2 yrs. would that be allowable bearing in mind club rules and losses.

Howler, the most sensible post I have read on here in weeks

Well said hOWLer, couldn't agree more.
Patience though is not an easy virtue to possess, and this summer has really tested our resolve and continues to do so!
On a positive note, even if things do not go to plan, we have a great guy at the helm in Stuart Gray. I believe that given time and the right support he can be one of the best we've had at SW6. And like several of the above posters, I have been a regular since just before that great 60's team, having seen some good managers in that time - Harry Catterick probably the pick of them ( would have said big Ron as well had it not been for his love affair with Villa )
Come on FL!

Stuart Grey in my opinion saved our season last year from an impossible situation. he needs full support from every one who has Sheffield Wednesday at heart. Good luck to the Owls this year

15.) 27 Jul 2014
Yeah I agree.
Regardless of what happens with the takeover, although I'm sure it will happen. We have signed a solid centre half in Loovens and a good prospect midfielder/full back with Hutchinson.
Onwards and upwards.
