Can confirm that we will sighn Stevie May and Ben marshal in the coming days however takeover is pretty much dead as hafiz has strugled to liquidate his assets to buy us but takeover situation could change and hopefully it does soon. UTO

Believable17 Unbelievable21

If HM was struggling to get the cash together we would have heard by now as the FL would have kicked the takeover out by now for lack of proof of funds. That is one of the first steps of a takeover. That is the main reason why the Doncaster takeover failed so quick.

Was told about hm on monday and may and marshall on Tuesday morning before ma bid from forrest so maybe things will have changed for hm in Azerbaijan but the reason the deal hadnt gone through is because hm hadnt paid mm also mm took around 100k of the ma fee

May and Tardieu will arrive. No real evidence that Marshall is on way, lots of rumours but largely from poor sources.

Only issue with takeover is ratification of Mammadov, this is to do with proof of income.
Problems in Lens are to do with split ownership, Martel owns 49% of club and wants to retain this holding but wants Mammadov to keep pouring money in. Martel just wants to spend and gives wrong pression to French authorities.
To those who do not follow above point. Normally when a person puts capital in extra shares are issued to them increasing proportion of club they own. Martel wants more money but does not want to lose his holding of club.
Martel is that useless its a wonder he was not director of Wednesdayite.

Who was the striker SG was expecting to hear from Monday or Tuesday morning.

Agree5 Disagree1

Frankel - your point about Martel is well made. I posted on here a few weeks ago about the way that Martel had dealt with both HM and the French Lge, and the fall out for Lens was almost inevitable.
The French "popular" press, led by one journo in particular, were posting about money that HM hadn't paid because that was the story that Martel had fed them.
In actual fact HM had paid his promised 38m and the expectation was that Martels camp would pay the other 10m, but Martel stupidly tried to screw HM, and the French Lge then got involved because of the apparent budget shortfall.
Martel and HM met in London 2-3 weeks ago to sort things out for the purposes of the appeal, and they have a "working" relationship but it is clear that one of them won't be at Lens much longer. The Lens fans would have rid of Martel tmrw, it was him who took them to the brink of bankruptcy a few years ago.
All the facts have been available in the quality French media but all that gets reported over here, and repeated on this site, are the gutter press reports about HMs financial affairs.
HM has shedloads of money, he might have problems explaining where it came from and where it is held or invested, but that would be true also of the many Russian oligarchs who own some of the biggest clubs around the world and who would have the same problems if they had been required to pass the FL test when they bought in to their various clubs.

Agree10 Disagree1

Best announced he was going to Derby on Monday? Perhaps?
Or perhaps Stevie May was deciding over the weekend whether to stay and play one more game for St Johnstone in Europe tonight, or decide to come to us immediately on mon/ tues?
Don't think we will find out now South.

The deals never been put to the FL as NO monies have been paid to MM

No striker was ever deciding on Monday? Gray said he was waiting for the green light and should find out Monday or Tuesday, that's off MM not the striker!

Howler
Good morning.
People who have shed loads of money available to spend, would not be doing this. People who really have shed loads of money to spend pay twice the amount on one player, than we are asking for the football club and its assets. I sincerely hope I am totally wrong. I do not want to be associated with the gutter press, I do not obtain my information from the gutter press as you are aware, but from independent articles, I therefore find it unfortunate to suggest you feel the same way as yourself, or you are subjected to this type of remark. The first half of your post regarding RC Lens I thought was very thoughtful.

Just one final point I went on the Forest site yesterday, a much calmer site, people having their say without the humiliation when daring to speak their mind.

The striker that SG was referring to was Simon Cox who was part of the Antonio deal. Cox wanted to move South so he has joined Reading. The Antonio/Cox deal would have gone through Monday or Tuesday if Cox hadn't changed his mind. This is according to Cox after joining Reading.

Agree5 Disagree1

Teat - The FL have already studied the takeover, made observations, and asked for further info/clarification. that's all in the public domain.
As for the money, the money will not be paid to MM directly until the deal is finalised. That is common practice, like when you buy a house!
The money is lodged with a 3rd party, usually an independent legal/financial organisation until the final day.
But that money will be there because that is obviously one of the first steps -"show us your money".
If HM hadn't lodged the money, the deal would have been dead in the water a month ago!

Yes South, Reading is much further South than Sheffield. SG and The Star have since confirmed what I posted earlier.

Agree5 Disagree0

South -
Good afternoon.
My reference to the gutter press is accurate and factual. HM has even threatened legal action against THE particular French journalist who is responsible for the majority of the rubbish.
I should add that I lived in France for nearly 12yrs and still follow the news, obviously since HM became linked with us I have kept a close watch on the Lens connection.
The Mammadov story in France is exactly the opposite to that perpetuated over here. Over there Martel is the villain, and HM is the saviour of RCLens.
My comment about shedloads of money is also "accurate", I used the term shedloads because how do you quantify?
HM is, as you are probably aware backed by the Azerbaijani Govt to sell the country through popular culture, particularly sport - not just football.
Thats what frustrates me by suggestions that he hasn't got the money, its almost laughable, the only problem is satisfying the sports authorities.
In answer to your final point, I only post accurately supported by facts, when it is my own opinion I usually add - IMO.
There is no intention to humiliate anyone.
But if somebody puts stuff in the public domain which is totally inaccurate, not factual, and some of it frankly libellous, I will contribute where I can to try to correct the record.

HOWLer in reply

Hi mate, I don't know what you know.

See below, "-" copied from Alan Biggs report in the Sheffiled Star, he obviously has seen no proof of any money being paid and that the FL delay is a 'RED HERRING' and the money is the problem - so a long way to go before any take over can be ratified, he does go on to say it could still happen and quickly but!!!

"Cash on the table, that is. Wednesday have seen it for a player but evidently not, it’s believed, for the club.

From my enquiries, the Football League ratification issue is something of a red herring. All the contracts can be signed on a deal, as they have been for some time on the takeover, but in the end it’s about the money that seals it.

In this case, some £40m. "

Is that "Alan Biggs" that has not seen any proof of money. If it is why on earth would they have to show Biggs the money. Never forget that Biggs is a journalist and as a famous newspaper owner once said never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Biggs is in the business of selling column inches the controversial the better. Moreover Biggs has never been fan of SWFC so if he can spread dissent so much the better. Let's wait and what happens.

Agree5 Disagree0

Hi Teat -
Yes I read that, but with the greatest respect to Alan Biggs, he probably knows as much as you and I, that is - as much as we are told!
Why would he have seen any proof of the money having been paid? The only people that will see that are MM and his advisors.
Neither does he have a column in the Financial Times, nor is he an authority on high capital business transactions I suggest?
So rather than write what he did, which adds nothing of any value to the debate, I wish he, like the rest of us would just be patient and wait for an Official announcement from MM.
At the end of the day whether the deal is completed or it stumbles at one of the hurdles, there is little that we as fans, or Alan Biggs, can affect.
Like most things in life its them with the money that hold all the aces.

The Star have always had a 'soft' utd bias, since Tony pritcsrds days, I note on their Green In app they have put in a Sheffield United Championship preview, not league 1, so take what their journos say with a pinch of salt. bring back Paul Thompson

Lens' preparations for their return to Ligue 1 have been hit after being handed a ban on signing new players. The northern club finally had their promotion to the top flight rubber-stamped on appeal after it was initially prevented - despite them finishing second in Ligue 2 last season - for failing to provide sufficient financial guarantees.
Could this affect us In any way possable edd just wanted to ask the question cause it's all leading back to the same financial difficulties.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Can any one clarify if RC Lens did receive the money or not.

The article does not make clear if the 4m euros "owed" by Lens was extra money promised by HM and not delivered - or, if it was inserted by Martel into his submission as a means of getting round the objections of the regulator. Hope it is the latter. Anyway, the French have seemed less than straightforward in their dealings thus far.

Starman closest to truth I think, majority of French press comments that can see little justification for ban other than spite and revenge for Lens winning the appeal.
A couple of articles suggesting that Lens have more funds available than half of the other clubs in the league, so hard to believe its related to money.

if our owners chairman etc mm and hm won't allow us to buy how can we sell, surely we need to keep structure then reduce squad size at the end of a good pre season and lavery is injured, isn't antonio one of our top young talents so I think we should refuse forrest and definitely think he's worth more then 1. 5 to 2mill imo uto xxx

First of all sorry Oliver (yesterday) for doubting your rumour looks like Antonio is leaving. To say I'm disgusted is an understatement, some people may say it's a good deal, sorry I don't think so. We were expecting with this so called takeover investment and a season to look forward to. Instead we have to sell to buy players, 2 things if this transfer goes through, Mr Gray spend the money wisely and bring in 2-3 players and lastly a big thank you to MM who in my eyes has turned this takeover into a right fiasco and he is solely to blame for bringing wild hopes of investment to Wednesday fans.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Patience - 9months, 46 lge matches, 138pts, and hopefully a good few cup matches to go!
Not even kicked a competitive ball yet.
Can't say I'm not surprised to see Antonio go at this time, BUT - if SG doesn't see him as part of the long term plan and there's a possibility of losing a key signing if we don't act NOW, then it makes good sense doesn't it?
For example if the money was used to get the striker that knocks 20-30 goals in this season, or he went to make way for Ben Marshall to play out wide, would there be too many complaints from any of us?
The time to be critical, if its justified, is at the end of the season, not before its even started

Agree7 Disagree2

Worst thing that could happen is that Antonio fails his medical!

Well said liveinhopeowl. It's about time the fans brown nosing stopped and a few home truths were told. A certain Revowl warned us of this fiasco ages ago on here and everyone jumped on his back including Ed. This all things just a mess that will end in disappointment anyway so let's move on. MM needs to stop the feel good stuff and serious investors need to be found ASAP before we end up in a worse mess than when MM took over.

Agree2 Disagree5

I assue that liveinhopeowl and Strad have never bought houses. Buying them can drag on for months and the paperwork for that is quite simple. Buying a football club is hundreds of times harder with reams of paperwork that will need to go back and forth between at least 3 parties and possibly more so takes a while. The only reason it seems to be dragging on is that the announcement of the takeover was made to early as the French press was about to leak it. I think a lot of people on here assume that all you need to do to buy a football club is to walk up to the current owner, give them money and that is it, when in reality it takes a lot of time and paperwork. MM doesn't want to spend any more money, HM doesn't want to spend money as technically the club isn't his just yet so to get any new players which is what we need we will have to sell. Antonio was a good player for the club but hasn't really developed in the last season, if we can get a couple of million which funds some extra players then that is fine by me.

Agree5 Disagree2

Nothing to do with sg not wanting Antonio in is plans, nothing to do with sg, he piks a squad out of what he's got, the owners of clubs now days buy and sell, look at forrests s Pearce, he's even done an interview on ow disgusted he is on sale of his players, and he ant even been in charge of a league match, sorry to say but my post weeks ago is the same, we will not spend 500. 000 this season

Did anybody else listen to the Football Heaven Managers Special last night on BBC Rad Sheff.

From reading between the lines I got the distinct impression from SG that the takeovers all but done (This week) he bit his lip when nearly saying it was completed and and chose his words very carefully when mentioning it.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Just listened to it again and I completely missed that last night. I have to agree it does seem like he almost let's the cat out of the bag then back tracks a bit and as you say is very careful with his words.

From the looks of things, the money from the sale of Antonio will be used to gesump Rotherhams bid for Stevie May from St. Johnson. highly rated Scotland under 21 player being monitored by various clubs. Very good goal per games ratio. Would be a great addition if it comes off! UTO.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I'm still not convinced he'll be good enough scored a lot in Scotland. We need someone that'll hit the ground running. Prove me wrong please.

I said when I had seen the Rotherham bid go in for May that I would like to see us challenging for his signature. He has a very good goals to game ratio and yes I know it's in the Scottish leagues but he looks like a natural finisher. On the down side and a personal note I will be disappointed to see Antonio leave.
