We are interested in Lewis Grabban and Craig Mckail-Smith

We should go in for Roger Johnson and Jamie O'Hara Johnson and Loovens would be a quality Centre Half pairing.

Don't think that Johnson is the answer. Very inconsistent for us, even allowing for his injuries.

The same Lewis Grabbon who Cardiff offered £3m for? - yeah ok!

So we are going pay three million for grabban.

I said we were " interested " in Grabban not that we're offered money for him. Course we ain't going to pay 3m. Not worth it. Wish people would read a post properly!

Matthew Etherington released by Stoke. One of the best crossers of the ball in football. Overcome his gambling too. Worth a punt I reckon

To old to many problems as a person not right for the club and would be to expensive wage wise

32 now and don't think he is what we are looking for. We want thirsty young players with ambition. Plus I think centre backs should be our priority, especially if Loovens and Guchi don't sign new contracts.
Agree9

Take it your jocking that you think a player of his calibre would even consider joining the likes of us? If you were serious your deluded as we will be bottom five at bes when it comes to wages.
Agree13

The likes of us?. Nothing like a bit of pride and ambition in your club is there mate?
Agree5

The likes of us reflects where we fall in terms of wages/ambition and realism.
Fact is whether you like it or not why on earth would the likes of a player like Mathew Etherington want to play for a club of which at best will be fighting for survival from start to finish (possibly) and possibly have a relegation on his CV and oh by the way be paid much less than 90% of the rest of the championship clubs? Really makes sense.
Just to let you know "mate" that I've been a season ticket holder for nearly 35 years and have seen many downs and a few ups in that time and will continue to do so but I'm also a realist and I'm not prepared to judge my clubs through Rosie coulered specs like most of you do so I suggest you get real and prepare yourself for yet another bumpy ride in 2014/15 FACT

Good job Burnley's manager didn't think the same last season when he lost his best striker to one of his rival clubs. I remember them being candidates for relegation at the start of the season. He clearly had other ideas. So let's get behind the massive and have faith in SG. He is far better than DJ at getting best out of players so I have faith that start of season will be better than last. If you put just 3 wins In that formidable losing streak we would have been pushing for the play offs. Now there's a scary thought.

Burnley can be put in same bracket as Blackpool, Palace even Derby. Recruitment is really important where we failed last year in not getting in strikers only Nuhiu who hasn't settled. With the injures to Gardner etc and Madine getting sent down the season wasn't going to go for us. I'm always ambitious about our seasons. Just have faith stop being defeatists.

If buts and maybe? Any statistic can be manipulated to suite any event but the fact is we finished where we finished and to be fair taking all circumstances into account we punched above our weight in terms of squad and first team we have but it still doesn't alter that we were fighting of relegation for a second season for 3/4s of the season
Agree12
Disagree1
Oh and by the way why does everyone keep saying that Burnley were one of the favourites to go down last season? At the beginning of last season hey were 12s for promotion and we were 18s? Now I'm not a mathematical genius but even I can work that one out

I'm not a genius but I look at Facts. At the beginning of last season (before a ball was kicked) Burnley were 16's for promotion, we were 12's. Burnley were also 4 - 1 for relegation, we were 6 - 1. And stats show Burnley most likely to be in bottom 6, ie involved in a relegation battle. But look where they ended up. All this can be verified in following mail article

So YES, Burnley were more likely to be involved in relegation battle than us. Fact. So make sure you check facts before quoting.
