Leeds have received a mystery £5m bid for 20+goal striker McCormack today - from another Championship club who not been named?
I wonder?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Wrong call
It's Fulham who have put in the bid
Nice though to think we may be competing soon

Agree4 Disagree2

No chance! Lol! Would be nice tho!

Agree3 Disagree0

I heard it was derby not us

Agree3 Disagree2

Derby

Agree2 Disagree2

Don't see why we shouldn't put a cheeky bid in for Jamie vardy worth a shot

Agree6 Disagree2

The bidders are still not known publicly.
Press are speculating on who it is, Sky have put Fulham in frame but not been confirmed.
Norwich also been in the hunt recently.
Derby and Cardiff have said it is def not them.
But only Cellino and the bidders know at mo.

Agree3 Disagree1

Would rather try a 5m bid for Connor. they can only say no

Agree2 Disagree1

Does anybody know when the football league give there go ahead on the takeover uto

Agree1 Disagree0

It's Fulham

To all my owls' mates who post on this site: The tone of the posts we have been putting have to change now, for a simple reason. We have a very recognised owner in football arena who is not only loves the game but also know how to invest in it and how to develop it properly, he has proved that already in clubs he owns and also the ones he has shares with. Hence I am, and surely most of you, very optimistic about the future of our club who has been in turmoil for many years now, BUT NOT ANY MORE! In addition to that he is very much loved and respected by the people who have worked with him. I am absolutely sure and have no doubt about it he will take our wednesday forward. So by mentioning the old tune of below par players or lower league ones etc that time has gone now, so find yourself a new line of either high up players to rumour about or leave it to Mammadov to do it his way THE BEST WAY with our undivided support all the way please. good times are coming, you will see! NDS

Agree10 Disagree0

Sorry put appear to put a bit of adampener on the take over situation but I just think some people are getting a little carried away with the amount of cash they think will be available so splash out. Let's take this one step at a time and keep our feet on the ground.

Agree7 Disagree0

Well Leicester are reportedly after another foreign striker so who knows. I don't think Vardy is prem class but woud do us a job in champs. Plus he's an owl

Agree6 Disagree0

Need to be a bit more patient, I think. It would be good to think we will make a "marquee" signing to get everyone excited but the takeover needs to be formalised and a target identified in line with the style of play and plan that the new man endorses. My guess is that we won't see anything significant until well into July.

I don't think we are missing out on anybody. I think it's all going on behind the scenes but can't be finalized or made public until the new owner is officially confirmed by the powers that be.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Everyone seems worried about us not signing up every Tom, Dick and Harry who's suddenly out of contract. With Mammadov's millions, I don't think he's particularly bothered about other people's cast-offs! Right now he's probably weighing up the pros and cons on the managerial front. Once that's been decided (to make sure the man in charge gets the people HE wants), he'll probably open up the cheque book and make generous offers to the clubs involved (both national and international). I wouldn't be at all surprised to find a few more foreigners on our wage bill given the new owners knowledge of foreign leagues. Exciting times. patience everybody. UTO!

Agree5 Disagree2

Even though we supposed to have new owner, we will still get nothing, get ready for league 1

Agree0 Disagree10

You think he has just paid 40 million for a club to see them sink to the pub league? I smell bacon!

Agree8 Disagree0

Mind the gap blunt it's getting bigger.

Agree7 Disagree0

Supposed to have a new owner?. Oink oink, go home blunt

Agree7 Disagree0

Mexowl, you say Mammadov will get a new manager to buy the players he wants, that is not his style. Mammadov likes to finance the club but not interfere too much with the team. He has stated before in the french press that by his own admission he doesn't know enough about football to start picking players and leaves that to people who are more competent. As long as they don't go mad on the prices they pay all he cares about is getting the team to the top

Agree1 Disagree0

Where am I supposed to have said that? News to me!

in my opinion as well as fryatt another player I would of gone for now moved is lloyd dyer, were losing out we need to crack on scouting fast and bringing in players before were left with scraps, this take over has been going on for 3-4 months plus, sure hm had players in mind to get if successsful, I know this isn't champ manager but sure we can move a little quicker for players? any body dissagree? uto xxx

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Although I agree with you that we are missing out on certain players, we have got competent people at the club who I am sure know what they are doing and will act accordingly when a player of interest becomes available. It may also be worth noting that players we may be are interested in are not free agents and therefore have not been approached yet. I have every confidence that the club will have players in place if not for the start of pre season then shortly afterwards.
In Mammadov and Milan we trust.

Agree9 Disagree3

The abve is your opinion, it may not be the new regimes.

Personally think Dyer is flash in pan playe like JJ. Fryatt can do a very good job at this level but has had long abscences due to injury. Hence I am not that botheed we missed out.

We have een told thee will be a couple of quiet weeks and that is what I expect. Bullen said there had been changes and one or two things had gone off behind the scenes. I have no knowledge what changes have occurred but think its certain to involve our list of potential signings.

I think Gray has done excellent job ut lack of word from him suggests there may be some changes to management coming.

Mandaric left DoF post open and you know he did it with a possible takeover in mind.

If we do recruit manager / DoF expect someone with proven track record joining. Hope we keep Gray in coaching position but not sure he would want lesser role.

Agree4 Disagree3

Agree to all your points and we have given these four players too much time, if they really wanted to stop they would have signed by now let's move on Mr C

Agree2 Disagree1

The 4 players have contracts that run until 30/6/14 and we have offered new terms. They don't need to accept now, they can wait for a better offer which may make us increase our terms. They will all sign at the end of the month if no-one else comes in for them.

A little further down the line, a new stadium would be nice. Time to leave Hillsborough, the past and all the negativity behind.

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Question is where would it be sited, we need around 40,000 because if in Premier league you would get well over 30,000 for several games and evenue is important.

We can get 38,000 in now and hard to see them reducing size which would reduce potential revenue.

Can see positives but location is a problem.

Agree5 Disagree1

Not sure about that. The last 10 -15 yrs have been dire yes but we've had some good times there. I for one like the ground - could do with some / a lot of money spending on it but I like it where it is and the history that goes with it. I hate these grounds that are way outside the city or part of a 'commercial enterprise centre', much prefer to get in amongst the houses, struggle to park, spend hours trying to get away from the ground etc ;-), its all part of the experience.

Agree6 Disagree2

Cant leave Hillsborough! Just needs updating, quite simple really, and then if we did start doing well and got back into the prem we would just need to extend it and make it bigger cus inoe it would be a sell out virtually every week

Agree6 Disagree2

Some of you are hard to fathom at times, new Chairman not even got official approval yet and you spending his money on ground!
Way, way down on list of to-dos surely?

Agree3 Disagree1

Do we really need to extend it AND make it bigger?i say we just extend it and save the making it bigger money

Agree2 Disagree0

What planet are you on? Why would the new owner spend multi millions on a new stadium the same size as the one we have? Especially when we already have a good ground that needs the minimal of investment in it. Building a soul less wrap around stadium with no history or character. I would expect our attendances, in the prem, to be averaging around 28-30 000, as they were before. Yes the big games will sell out but the current stadium is plenty big enough. Our current ground is an Architectural Gem and is the only football ground featured in nicholas pevsner's architectural guide to England for the North Stand, which is an amazing feat of Engineering, likewise the South Stand was designed by Archibald Leitch the first notable football stadium Architect. Being situated next to Hillsborough Park ensures that Hillsborough will always be Sheffields world cup venue as it is ideal for fanzones. Then there's the small matter of history such as the boxing day massacre. Finally - how much money do you think this guy has? Also what negativity are you talking about. Hillsborough isn't even in that bad shape just a new scoreboard and a bit of tarting up. The training ground could do with upgrading to match other academies, but we are lucky to have such a good historical ground with nearby training facilities.

Agree6 Disagree2

Should we make it bigger and not extend it then?. save money that way.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think filling in the two gaps at either side of the south stand in a 2014 contempory style, maybe new seats on the north and just tarting it up generally. One easy way to make it look more modern from the outside is changing the cladding on the kop - which is a modern stand. This is a big area and changing that faded basic blue corrugated claddding. Just look at the impact cladding has had on the bullring in birmingham or even the allianz stadium germany. The allianz stadium changes colour. In the winter olympics the ice hockey arena acted at a giant plasma screen Imagine that on halifax road - a giant billboard!. Either way joining the gaps would put us around the 40k mark, which is enough, and there are plenty of ways of marrying the old traditional unique aspects of the ground with a modern contemporary 2014 architecture to symbolise a new era. If I was to redevelop any area it would be the west stand. I don't think it works well as an away end as it is difficult to split the top tier from the bottom without fans annoying each other. This would have to be done respectfully for obvious reasons, but could also be part of the joining together phase with the south stand. A new press box would go in the corner. A decent Architect would have a field day with the redevelopment of hillsborough. They ought to put it out to open tender and see what ideas come back. Hillsborough is definitely the place to be though.

Agree1 Disagree2

Did you at any point consider that extending and making bigger are the same thing?

Agree3 Disagree0

Of course Brighton, but didn't think there was any point pulling you up on it as I thought it was a mistake. Surely it wasn't a joke? Anyway returning to my original point its unlikely that the new guy will spend his money on the ground, if so there is very little to do to bring it up to speed - and if he wanted to invest in the ground there is plenty of scope for improvement without leaving Hillsborough.

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah it was a terrible error of judgement on my part. let's get back to your compelling vision for the future of hillsborough

Agree2 Disagree0

I've done Brighton. Think i've bored you all enough for one thread!

Agree0 Disagree0

Brighton, get yer tongue out of your cheek man :-P. You make I larf!

Looking forwards to the improvement.
As previously mentioned it will be fantastic to put a name to the negs, so they can be ignored.
