My take on 'the vision': This season the only realistic finish is survival. DJ knows that the senior players he has brought in are only capable of achieving this much. Him and MM knew this when they signed them. The younger players (Corry, Mayor, McCabe, Madine, Rodri, Antonio to name a few) are all talented prospects and are learning the Championship and the level of play at which they will have to reach for NEXT season. Obviously DJ can not come out and say 'we are aiming to scrape survival' but DJ never lied and said 'we want to do a double jump in to the Premier League'. We will NOT get relegated under DJ.
Wednesday have scraped through the last 15 years and MM saved us from financial ruin. He did not plan on saving us and selling us on straight away. He plans on making a large (£20m+) profit on the club and the only way to do that is to make it a sustainable and profitable business. The only way to make the club sustainable is to build slowly from the ground up. MM will sell SWFC when we are a club that look like we could push for promotion to the Premier League.
This is a more long-term view of the club's situation and it is not ideal but it is achievable but only realistically the way that MM and DJ are going about it. Not looking for an argument nor am I 'deluded' so save your breath, just a paying customer like yourselves with a perception of my own.

A well thought out synopsis of , as you say , a long term view of the clubs situation. I think your interpretation of "the vision" at the start of this season is one I would happily concur with.
My proposition is that our "failure to date" this season has prompted a reassessment of "the vision".
I totally respect your wishes and not wanting to dispute it at all, but would like to put just two points to you for your thoughts because as I said I believe MM is taking an increasingly shorter term view of his involvement:-
1) Given that MM is c.75yrs old , will he sit easy with the patient but sensible approach , particularly if we do not manage to secure our Championship position this season?
2) I would concur that MM would be looking for at least c.£20m return when he sells. But given that he has probably invested at most c.£30m? and Leeds, as a recent example, is reported to have changed hands for c.£200m, I suggest he would have no problem finding a buyer willing to pay a sum which would easily give him the return he was looking for.
Only an educated guess at MMs investment of course, it could be a lot less but would be surprised if it was a lot more?
The Leeds figure was widely reported and surely we would be worth, at the very least, half as much as Leeds and probably a lot more, which even at that would be a handsome return ?
If you do decide to comment I will leave your comments unchallenged , just interested in your thoughts?
Eloquently put both of you
Thank you! Somebody who knows how to respond to a comment like an educated human being, we were due.
In answer to your points:
1) I hadn't really considered MM's age that's an interesting point, you're right I can't see him sticking around for more than 5 years.
2) But teams like Leeds that have this kind of money in them all have strong Championship squads with the foundations in place for a bright future. My point was that DJ and MM are laying these foundations that can entice buyers that want to take a solid club forward.
Thanks again for being respectful of my view makes a change from the usual comments I and others receive on here.
Thanks, you're welcome.
Enjoyed the chat .
At least a £100 million for the club is purely speculative and extremely unlikely, in my opinion.
Of course its speculative ! Unlikely?
All I was doing was pitching in the current market.
Given that Leeds has / is changing hands for a reported c.£200m , I wouldn't have thought it totally unreasonable to expect somewhere between £50-100m for a club with arguably bigger potential, certainly a bigger base following.
The value would ultimately be determined by the buyer, and what their intentions for the club were?
I respect and agree with my fellow posters observation that Leeds have stronger foundations at the moment.
But in recent times, ManC. and their owner, have proved that with intent and investment anything is possible in 2-3 years.
Before anyone jumps on that I'm NOT suggesting we are going to be the next ManC, I'm just pointing out that the possibilities are , in the main, limited by the Owners ambition and their disposable funds.
Got to disagree that we will stay up.
I know that we weren't going to get promoted. That was just drunken talk after the great season we had.
We wont have Rodri next season. He was for the now.
I can see that we were planning for the future and we would have to settle for low down the table but i don't think anyone thought we would be this bad.
DJ has made a lot of mistakes which he never admits to.He belittles fans views and his previous record isn't as fantastic as its made out to be.
I believe that jones is an average manager and has cocked up and maybe had some bad luck as well but if he stays we are down.
I think we are anyway tbh because his ideas haven't work and we need fresh ones.
Meant to say that his ideas haven't worked and can't see that changing. By the time MM finally sacks him we will be too far behind.
Not unlikely. Extremely unlikely.
I have no doubts that an investor with the same funds as the owners of "Man City" would further our status.
But at the same time I am being realistic and it really isn't going to happen.
As much as I dislike Leeds, they have been stable now for a few seasons in the Championship and they also have a rich history, which attracted a wealthy investment.
I distinctly said I wasn't comparing us to ManC. I was merely pointing out that the owner wanted progress so he bought it . You cant buy titles or trophies but it is possible to buy progress.
As for your other points, stable for a few seasons ? - Leeds were in Lge1 in 2009-10 ?
Rich history ? - it pales in comparison with ours! - They were unknown before Revie .
I would suggest Sheffield Wednesday, because of their history, are much better known around the world than Leeds
Could you elaborate on why you don't think we will go down?
Because atm we look like a squad with big problems, both quality wise and morale wise.
I have never known so many new players come into a club and not get a game.
I'm just interested to know the reasons why some people still believe in jones because i'm finding it very hard to.
Leeds are more famous because their history is much more recent.
The 30's and 50's a is a bit of a long way back.
The Owls were one of the first clubs in European competition in the early 60's , 2-3 years in succession, which made them famous all over Europe .
Thats more recent than30s, 50s ?
Very defensive of Leeds, I suspect I'm talking to a Leeds fan on here again, you don't seem to know much about our history ?
Finally fans that can see whats really happening??....
I can see the sense of the first post in this string about MM and DJ playing the long game but what I can't see is the sense in perpetuating a losing approach over so many weeks to the point where it puts league survival in jeopardy. That can't make sense. Going back down to League 1 would be the worst thing possible if, as we all know, MM is trying to grow his investment before selling. You would think that an intelligent manager/owner team would be doing more to carry fans with them instead of allienating them and leaving so much, as they obviously see it, unexplained.
I can't understand why he hasn't spent more on team to make sure we stay in Champs this year, can't afford to go down if he wants to sell.
Jesus about time that a message on here that makes sense. Thanks great read
All posts etc I've read have put the Leeds takeover around the 50 million mark. Never saw anything quoting more.
It seems newly promoted teams either go straight through this league ie Norwich and southampton or struggle around bottom to mid table, this is probably due to the parachute payments the prem/championship clubs keep getting. Our challenge will be to consolidate and build as Leeds seem to have done or continually be looking over our shoulders like Barnsley, Peterborough and Bristol city as this league will get tougher year on year
Leeds are a good comparison. They spent 3 seasons in League 1. They did not struggle when they gained promotion - so why are we? Then again they didn't drop players who brought them up, they built on that team. And they didn't sign the Kirkland, Taylors and Bothroyd's of this world.
Yes everybody sayin solid Champs side like Leeds . Only been up two seasons !
Deffo Leeds lovers.
This is their 3rd season. Your deffo not Carol Vorderman are you mate?
Been up two seasons - this is there third Carol ?
