We need to buy and use players like we did in the 90's get a creative attacking midfielder, someone like John Sheridan, a bulldog meathead in the centre, like Danny Wilson, pacey skillful winger, like chris waddle, and a beast of a striker who can score from anywhere like Hirsty {Ed046's Note - Chris Waddle was not blessed with pace!!!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Waddle used to fly past defenders.

Agree4 Disagree0

Waddle never flew past em as such, from memory most times he beat players was from a standing start and with a little drop of the shoulder to gain a yard.

Agree0 Disagree3

Waddle used to beat players 3 times before delivering an assist best player ever to pull on the blue and white

Agree4 Disagree0

Exactly, he flew past em with skill. His brain was fast, which to me, made him look very quick.

Agree2 Disagree0

Still think Sheridan was our best blue and white wizard.

Agree1 Disagree1

Hard to split the waddler and shez agreed

Agree1 Disagree0

Waddle did'nt need pace is trickery was enough, i remember when he made giggs look silly.

Agree3 Disagree0

Its as easy as that then, just sign good players :)
Worthington and king shuffling down the left. One runs past the other and recieves a pass down the wing and crosses it for hirsty.
It was so easy but effective.
We are missing a certain kind of player but i don't know if they exist any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Waddle had the flashy moves but is my third favourite player behind hirsty and sheridan.
Its hard to split them but maybe sheridan gets the nod over hirsty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget des walker in all this he was the spine at times.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hirsty was better than Shearer till he "hit the wall" could have been a Wed and England legend !

Agree1 Disagree0

Biggest mistake the board ever did was sacking trevor francis. Mind you gary megsons passion was behind us going up last season. It rubbed off on the lads clearly that is what is missing this season.

Just a question for all those fans who won't hear a word said against MM :-
We are in bottom 3 and January is the last chance to bring players in to try to ensure we stay in Champs.
New rules say we have to stay within the balance sheet, but in addition owners can spend up to £3m this year. (£2m next, £1m year after)
MM has said that any players brought in this month have to be funded from outgoings.
So in effect we have to sell before we can buy and we are not going to take advantage of this £3m like a lot of the other clubs are. So by end of month some of our better players will have been sold to raise cash ? and all the better players will have moved anyway ?
If MM genuinely wants to take us forward, why wouldn't he put the money up now and get the players we need in now at start of month, and then sell others in rest of month to get some of that money back in?
Not a DJ fan by any stretch, but hes been saying all season we are starting from behind other clubs who have had seasons to build for this division and we just got promoted and have to catch them up, I for one would like to see evidence from MM that he plans to do that.
We haven't had one "flagship" signing this season, all the players we've signed have been promising youngsters, or players considered over the hill by other clubs.
You may say Antonio but he was identified by Megson last January and I would still put him in the promising youngster bracket.
I am talking about players tried and tested at this level who still have something to offer.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

You do have some valid points, but I still chose to standby MM. Is that ok?

Agree6 Disagree2

Me too

Agree3 Disagree1

I'm a bit disappointed by MM.
I thought he wanted to make money by getting us into the premier or at least sell us as a club that was knocking on its door.
But it looks like he wont put enough money in for us to even be a mid table side.
2 or 3 quality signings and we'd have been a club in contention.
Instead we signed maguire, pecnic who for some reason aren't any good, except i've a feeling they actually are, wasted money on the bothroyd and rodri loans and tried to replace rob jones with players no better.
Got a keeper when we could have stuck with what we had and signed various full backs and wingers who never get a sniff.
Now we are playing most of last seasons team with a few loans chucked in.
I've spoken to megson since he got sacked. He's careful what he says but the jist is that MM is a **** and a money hungry one at that and he wouldn't work for him again.
I think he knows more than we do what MM is like.

Agree5 Disagree1

Never mind eh at least we will be able to blood the young guns in when we are in league 1, McCabe Corry ext.

Agree1 Disagree1

Raise funds by selling? Oh dear... that would leave about £50 in the transfer kitty then. Mind you Ray off of Eastenders looked quite sharp in the Queen Vic's team last year. He's packed a few pounds on since then though but he'd still look slim in Sheffield though lol!

Agree2 Disagree2

The transfer has only just opened.

Agree2 Disagree1

Maybe, but try reading the club statements MM has said selling must fund any buying ... no more money from MM.

Agree1 Disagree2

Agree with the origional post MM isnt that bothered about wednesday at all by feb this will be proved

Agree0 Disagree0

I will TRY. Give it some time FFS, before people start with the doom and gloom again.
Was amazed to see MM still in charge on Jan 1st.

Agree0 Disagree0

Difference this time its MM whats kicked off doom n gloom .
were in bottom 3 and MM has said we have to sell before we buy.
Not a rumour thats fact so what does that say about MMs plans.
Im DJs biggest critic I would see him go tomorro but to be fair to him now what can he do?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about DJ, but u fortunately it's what we have got.
I hear you about MM but why not save you pessimism until after the transfer window.
He has never given any clues before.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got to be grateful to MM but at the same time get a bit angry because the bloke is loaded and he just wants more money.
For the sake of a little investment we could be so much better.
And us being so much better has got to be better for his pocket in the long run.
I just wish he could sell up tomorrow to someone who wants to take us further.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still can't blame a business man for wanting to make money.
Which Wednesday fan could take over and pump money into the club? Because before MM there was nobody.

Agree1 Disagree0

You can't blame him.
I was happy he did take over.
But now he's not spending much money i'm thinking "come on pal at your age just retire and spend it while you can enhoy it"

Agree4 Disagree0

Fair point.

i just dont get why dj seems to think getting rid of players like beevers llera etc is acceptable by replacing them with loan players, is that stability or not? what you think? uto xxxxx

Believable3 Unbelievable0

MM has said the only money DJ can have for players is what he raises by selling !
The only players anybody going to want are our better players, so when we sold them we in lumber if DJ don't get the buys right ?
What the point in millionaire chairman ? he allowed to spend £3m of his own money this year but not even spending any of the profits we made!

Agree3 Disagree0

Remember when Kevin Keegan sold Andy Cole to Man Utd and the fans confronted him? He signed Shearer a few days later and they loved him!

Beavers, Liera, mcCabe, COG, Madine, Antonio all sold to rivals and Bobby Charlton coming in along with Gary Lineker next week

Dave Jones pulls off deal of the century and Wednesday win the Champions League for the next 5 seasons

Mandaric is leading us all up the garden path, he is only interested in himself and his profits

Agree4 Disagree2

Lots of lads been critical of MM over last few weeks n getting there ear bit off .
If this window don't bring a bit of stability for rest of season I think MM can get ready for a lot more backbiting.
£3m nothing to him and its not even money he would be spending, it would be invested cos we got to be worth £3m more to a buyer in mid table than we would be fighting relegation or even worse back in lge1 .
Makes no sense at all !

Agree0 Disagree0

I just can't see Lineker coming

Agree3 Disagree1

Agree with MM digging into his pocket for £3 million, he has to back Corporal Jones or sack him

I can assure you Lineker is keen to come, his bar in Tenerife is not doing so well and he needs the money

What about this for a real red hot rumour.......................Maradonna was only seen TODAY in Rawson Spring ordering a burger with extra fries and claims DJ wants to win the fans over

DJ as we all know was a centre half in his playing days and Marradonna reckons DJ is going to show us how a defender SHOULD play, he has been having coaching lessons off Stuart Gray and will turn out next game

Marradonna also claims MM sits and looks at the fans and thinks what a bunch of mugs you lot are paying to watch this every week and lining my pockets, he has been asked to write scripts for Coronation Street

Agree1 Disagree0

You should put that crack pipe down pal before you pop that last brain cell.

Agree2 Disagree1

Another piggy bacon comment above, lol wat a joke this blunt is x

Agree2 Disagree0

It's quite ironic that a piggy would even mention Maradona.
They probably wouldn't be in the pub league if they had bought him when they had the chance. Ouch

It's also about time Calamity Kirkland was dropped as well. He's let in some soft goals this season and that first one from Burnley was a joke. Had he got money on Treacy for the first goal? Time for Bywater to be given a run.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Agree agree agree agree agree finally sombody talking sense, agree! uto xxx

Agree6 Disagree2

Absolute rubbish you cannot blame him for any goal hes let in CK has to be one one the best keepers in this division

Agree3 Disagree5

Kirkland has something on DJ

Why else would he play every week, look at his recored and he is steadily going to the dogs

Bywater back ASAP

Right you have 1 Mil to spend in January, who would be your signings! Mine...

400k Aaron McClean (Hull) Pacey and can score in and around the box
300k Leon Barnett (Norwich) Pace and experience, good in the air
300k Marvin Elliot (Bristol City) Athletic, box to box midfielder with plenty of experience
Loan - Rest of season Jeremy Helan (Man City)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

McClean as only scored 6 in 41 games, not being funny but is'nt that a bit bothroyd standard.

Agree1 Disagree0

Aaron McClean gone to ipswich
