As an Owl now resident in Swansea it is difficult to avoid comparisons:
1) Sheffield is almost three times bigger than Swansea
2) The country round Swansea is mostly small villages while Sheffield's catchment stretches many miles beyond the city boundary.
3)Swansea has to share its ground with the local rugby team and not very long ago nearly went out of the football league altogether.
4) They made the rapid transition to the Premier League with very little money but with two managers each of whom insisted on playing a passing game in spite of having no big stars. Martinez and Brendan Rogers operated on a near shoestring budget.
My reason for drawing this ( perhaps unwelcome) comparison is to question the idea that we cannot play good or successful football on the pitch without massive investment. Money, of course, helps in recruitment but only if we recruit the right players and only if those players are then directed properly - oh and before you question my loyalty, I am a lifetime Wednesdayite
Welcome to the world of football.
Yes money has been made available to manager to strengthen and the process has been going on over several years.
We started to play a passing game at beginning of season and we struggled for various reasons. We changed style and did well.
Worked in Swansea for a time. think you will find Sheffield is over 5 times as big
Not only that my massive friend. It's still Wales. Ouch.
According to census Sheffield 552,000
Swansea 239,000. Sheffield, of course, has much bigger suburbs - that figure is not recorded. Any road up Sheffield is a lot bigger. {Ed003's Note - Never believe anything that comes from government organisations,but I agree you are really really really really big,was going to say massive but that is boring}
Could be worse I lived in Llandudno for a bit and had to watch Colwyn Bay play. That was cringe worthy made us look like barcalona! {Ed001's Note - bit harsh! My uncle was chairman at Colwyn Bay for a bit. Mind they were terrible, though they are doing much better now they have a new chairman, not sure what that says about him!!}
Small world. Lol, if you can't insult Colwyn Bay without putting your foot in it, there is something terribly wrong.
Brilliant. {Ed001's Note - I am just amazed anyone else had even heard of them!}

If there is going to be a takeover I think it will be done by December, and if they are going to invest in players they will look at how we fare with what we have. Nobody throws money away. If we perform well early in season they may just tweak things around a little, and if we don't come up to expectations well - there's always the January window
Nothing will happen till next year
Just hope its not Gok Whan who is taking over. I can't abide pink n white stripes!

Heard someone yesterday said Maguire looks a bit tubby this player in my eyes deserves a starting place with nuhiu put Antonio n jj out wide where they can put that killer ball in and like nuhui says he relies on service. I would play Mc cabe n prutton in the middle with prutton being the holding midfielder with Mc cabe the creator / playmaker. And I would also give Palmer the chance too. fir me it's Kirkland Johnson if fit llera/ zayette Gardner Palmer. Antonio Mc cabe prutton jj Maguire n nuhiu for me
Gardner n zayette if he signs than llera as they used to play together
So where do you play Helen??
He blends in with jj cause he is never always fully fit so what woud your team be?
