Right sorry about this, I don't believe that we as a team are strong enough. I can't recall many goals direct from corners or from set pieces last year, and I am talking about heading the ball. There doesn't seem to me to be enough physical presence to scare other teams or indeed to bundle the ball in or just a good old fashioned header from a corner (remember Pearson, Shirtcliff, Lyons) someone who is 'up for it'. We can't walk the ball in, the championship won't allow that, and until we get some strength then I can't see much happening. I really hope I am wrong, but I crave the success

Just been on Sunderland rumours site, re Wickham, virtually every
mention is from someone who thinks he should be sold on (and the rest of their forward line when it comes to it). Would this be a good time to make an offer?

Are his wages too high? Would he fit into the new playing style?

I'd like to see him back. Certainly better value than one or two players we've been linked with.

Wickham may have been tempted if Gray was still manager but I don't think he will come to us at the moment. He also got fairly established in the Sunderland first team last year so for now I don't think he will come to us.

Just read we might be targeting a striker from Celtic last name was Stokes I think Anthony was his first name.

Hope not, he's only had very limited success in Scotland and done nothing in England despite several attempts.
He even failed to shine during a loan spell at "the other side of the city" so what chance would he have with us?

I thought Stokes was a decent player with a decent scoring record and a fully pledged international.
Only issue is, we went down that road last season with May and IMO the gulf in class between the SPSL and Championship was blatant, quickly.
Some are still hoping that May will magically come good.
