First post here. not looking for abuse, just wondered what you lot thought of these out of contract players. No "Earnshaw is toss you muppet, f*** him!". Just a decent discussion on these players. I'm not saying they'd all be worth a punt, although a couple definitely would be.

Sam Hutchinson - would be a quality signing. Young and talented. Would definitely like to see him line up for us.

Nathan Delfouneso - again, this guy would be a major coup. Can't see him coming here however, was getting rave reviews last year and would probably ask for 10k+ in wages. Would definitely take him, but can't see it.

Robert Earnshaw - age works against this man (33). and seems to have lost some of that goal scoring prowess he once possessed. A risky punt given his age, but has he got 15 goals in him?

Michael Chopra - didn't score a goal in 18 appearances last term but we all know this mans capable of scoring a goal or two. Wage demand dependant, I think he'd be worth a contract. Only 30 year old, so he's got a couple of year left. Another risky punt, but he's experienced in the Championship and I'd definitely take him.

Keith Treacy - anyone have him back?

Brian Stock - I really rate this guy. He's 32. but maybe has the experience we're looking for. A couple of experienced players and some young, fresh legs is what we need. Could Stock be the experience we're looking for?

Chris Eagles - If he isn't given a contract or doesn't accept an offer of one from Bolton, I'd snap him up. Eagles is quality.

Darren Ambrose - absolutely love this guy. Think he'd be an excellent signing.

Matthew Etherington - same as Ambrose. Would be pure quality in this division.

I think the only player missing from that list is Jason Koumas.

Hutchinson deent player proneto injurybut young enough tobe worth a go.
Chopra too much baggage has gotin way of football.
Treacey good crosser of ball but lacks industry.
Delfouneso I have never seen himperform always had good write upsand lots of promise but consistently not lived up to expectation.
Earnshaw past sell by date his game based on sharpness and edge went couple of years ago.
Ambrose and Etherington think they are not player they were, but no expert on current ability of them.

To be truthful I would hopeour sights are higher than names on this list as all would be free transfers.

{Ed003's Note - Chopra has signed for a team in The Indian League.}

If be really pleased with Eagles and Ambrose. Add some young'uns to that plus a striker like Stevie May and I'd even be ecstatic, haha!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was wondering where you'd gone koumas, not linked yourself with us yet this pre-season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol. Was a spot of irony, as we hear the same washed up names year in year out and this time the only one missing was Koumas.
Anyway, Hutchinson is the only one on that list I'd like to see join permanently.

ED you say Chopra has signed for a team in the Indian league! wot tribe?? lol

Ed,
I have lost touch with the goings-on in the corridors of power. Can you tell me please: is David Richards still with either the Football League or the FA? Just curious.
