From what I know Rhodes is injured if Rhodes is unfit/injured he can't pass no medical can he? It could be just me but I think we will get the big signing of a 20 goal a season striker. Maybe this could be why we ain't got the signing yet and from what I've seen DC isn't scared of spending money. UTO

You can do a medical in certain cases. As he only has a slight muscle strain from the reports I have seen, you could do the majority of a medical and assume he would recover from a simple injury. If he had a broken bone or a serious muscle tear or anything more serious then you couldn't do a medical as there is no guarentee that they would fully recover from that.

By my reckoning and based on CCs comment of 2 players per position I think we are short two wingers/attacking midfielders and are full in the other positions for now. I bet we get an unknown attacking midfielder from abroad and a known name for the winger. Sturgeon a Portuguese u21 mentioned but not sure of the named player. I doubt Ben Marshall.

Striker might wait till Christmas.

Dielna and Helan would be the first names. Not sure if one of the new lads can fill in but think Dielna will get the nod

What's peoples overall thoughts of the prep and Preseason so far?

There's been some really harsh views on here so far, that I think are really unjust, but what's everyone else feeling like?

I'm impressed that all business is done quietly, I think the players that have been added will improve the squad, still think a winger is absolutely needed, and a striker would be second for me.

So, from doom and gloom that I felt when SG left, I'm in a better place now - would still rather have had SG, but am certainly looking forward optimistically.

Things have moved along well apart from a striker but to be fair everybody wants a 20 goal striker. If we can keep defence tight just another 20 goals from the team would put us in the playoffs. as for ticket prices if DC can get us to Premiership I will pay whatever to see us get there.

Pre season is completely different this year to many others given the changes seen. Results truly mean nothing as the players need to gel and take on CCs tactics.

We have a chance to really make something of this season so let's all get behind the team and back them vocally no matter what.

CC needs a few months at least to impress his style of ply on the team and there will no doubt be games where we are too hung ho and get smashed (let's hope not many) but it will happen early on. What we have to for once do is recognise the fresh start we have as a club and back them. Not just immediatley call for change and dent their confidence as a new team. Let alone the fact half are foreign and may need a year to understand the championship.

This is another reason I vote for not paying big bucks on a striker YET. Xmas maybe. Service and style of play was our restriction last year plus a lack of confidence from our strikers. I believe with the new approach chances will come and thus confidence if we back them. Bus is untested and maybe 20 goals. May had no service. Lavery injured. I think all 3 can improve and so we should not gamble big money on 1 person YET.
I missed Atde off as jury's out for me. He's like crouch but less goals. Not sure how we get the best from him. He holds the ball up but is that enough.

Three of my thoughts:
1: ALF is not the answer and is not proven at championship level as 20 goals a season
2: like or hate the new structure with Roeder, he was not a great manager, but it seems to be working ok on the transfer front with players being bought quietly without drama
3: new board is shrewd with loans. No transfer fee, vastly reduced agent fees and probably wages with good quality. FFP savvy

Agree with you Ian80 apart from your Roeder point.
Since Paul Senior came on board he has been the Main Man as far as recruitment is concerned, so it would be stretching things to the limit to give Roeder any credit in that area. Jonathan Hill's opinion is respected far more than Roeder's.
You will have noticed very little noise from Mr Roeder in recent weeks?

Can I ask yo a question hOWLer do you secretly work at hillsborough because you seem to have a lot of insight and talk a lot of sense? or have you bugged the offices

Truth is hOWLer , we don't really know who is doing what behind the scenes!
I too, wasn't over the moon when GR was appointed , but he may have been influential in some of the recent acquisitions - we will never know.
Suggest , for now , we get right behind all the Chairman's men , and maintain a positive and united ( hate that word ) stance. After all, we have had more excitement this summer than for the past 10 years or so , combined!
I just hope that the coach can gel them together in time . We have not been creating enough chances in pre-season matches , so there is still a long way to go. While we do desperately need our 20 plus goal machine , we also need to feed him well . That's not happened yet.
Ben Marshall would have that sorted quick , but I don't think that's happening either.

Keep your voice down Cams Grandad - you never know who's listening! (lol)
All I will say ( for yours and Sleafords ears only mind you ) is Mr Roeder's skills and "influence" are in big demand elsewhere - or I bet that's what he will be hoping anyway!
