Bradford City, it's amazing what you can do with a bit of passion and support. COME ON WEDNESDAY.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

That year that Bradford City were in the top flight and we went down.
Wednesday should have stayed up!
Done sweet nowt since!! Bradford City did go down the following year.
But it was enough to end Wednesdays top flight days for good! Brad City will expect to be in championship in 2 years! I can sense gloom again!

Agree1 Disagree4

I back up what I said on last post.
Wednesday have not spent big for the 13 years since the top flight.
We had big debt of course for much of the time. Funny there is still a problem! I do accept I might be wrong about Bradford City getting up to championship in 2 years. I have some friends who support Bradford! I may be a bit paranoid.
The £2 milliom they have just gained
could help them get promoted twice.
There is no a lot of spare cash in the bottom two divisions! And of course
Wednesday could get up to premier one day I suppose!! It just feels like they never will!!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Says £1million on tv football.

Could pope be the player dj is going on about? Not worth anywhere near that at start of season but with all the goals he has scored thay may see him as the next alf hence poss 2.5m quoted uto

Believable0 Unbelievable8

Think pope would be worth while good striker but shouldn't be to expensive due to lack of experience in higher leagues plus look at le fondre now and he was a league 2 striker

Agree0 Disagree9

Pope is nowhere near another ALF, he was totally useless at Millers.
Hes just having a purple patch at his hometown club who he supported as a boy, Madine is a much better all round player and finisher than Pope and he's not thought good enough?

Agree11 Disagree0

Madine better player have a word!

Agree0 Disagree6

Pope had a reasonable half season in lge2 and never mentioned by anybody til recently. Madine scored 20+ in lge1 and in demand by other Champs clubs. Fact.

Agree8 Disagree0

Madine is not better than alf! Fact

Agree3 Disagree0

Think you need to read a bit slower mate everybody else is talking about Pope not ALF?

Agree5 Disagree0

What rhymes with Pope.
I know, ALF.

Chris Lines loaned out to MK Done.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Done, we have been, again.

Agree0 Disagree1

Not at all, the lad has quality but is behind after his injury and what a better way to help him develop his confidence again, especially if it helps MK sink the Blunts.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Jones talking about getting rid of Llera again?
God help us then he been our best player for last few weeks.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Where and when?

Agree3 Disagree1

This is just another wild statement by our negative expert come Megson fan club. Idle gossip in star, either tell truth or post on Weeds or Blunt boards.

Agree3 Disagree3

Another wild statement in Star and Yorkshire Post?
On the back of a public row between DJ and Lleras agent a couple of weeks ago?

It's rumoured in the Star that Jones is trying to resign Sidibe and Helan, but is prepared to let Llera, Taylor, Madine, O'Grady and Maguire leave.
Taylor has not won over the fans and has expressed his frustration at not playing first team football so let him go, Llera is 34 in August and it is said that the Owls are reluctant to give him a long term contract because of his age I can understand that. According to the Star Danny Bathh has said that he wants to start a new career away from Wolves and we would be his first choice of club, if we could get him as a replacement and bring in another centre halve than I would think it would be good business.
Maguire has not kicked a ball in anger, so I can see why we would let him go, O'Grady is a work horse and always puts in 110% effort, but he wouldn't be a first choice player here so maybe let him go.
Helan would be a good signing he has impressed whilst he has been here and I would be glad if he signed.
My concern is signing Sidibe and letting Madine go, Sidibe hasn't looked any good since he has been with us and only scored once, he is in his thirties so he will not improve and is not as good as Madine anyway. The number goals that Sidibe has scored in a season are six and that was in the Championship. O'Grady has scored five already this season. Madine has scored three this season from fewer games than Sidibe has played. So why are we considering letting Madine go and signing a player that is not has good as him.
I would say keep Madine and develop him into the player he can be.
I spoke to him at the training ground two weeks ago he wants to stay, he is passionate about the club and the supporters, he said he has never been happier in his life than he is now, he seems a very genuine lad who wants to be successful at Hillsbro.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Just speculatio in star no real basis on fact.

Agree1 Disagree0

Local Newspapers don't speculate they rely totally on having a good relationship with the club.
If its in the Star there is something behind it and if its not come from the club, its come from somebody who works there - or it won't get printed.

Agree1 Disagree0

You have to treat what's in the local rag with caution. To maintain access the Star avoids anything controversial, it has trotted out DJ's excuses all season with no analysis. The Yorkshire Post by contrast is a Weeds fanzine that always looks for the negative in Wednesday.

So Jones for the third day in a row is on about a new era of spending at Hillsborough!!!
gone are the days of buying out of trouble.
Yes we did overspend in the premier days.
which started the awful debt problems.

Since we let the top tier we have had 9 seasons
in the second tier and 4 seasons in the third tier.
Only three years ago Irvine could not buy is way
out of trouble in the second tier. Turner could not
buy his way out of trouble either a few years earlier.

Laws did have the makings of a decent side but
because of the debt the likes of Brunt and Whelan
were sold and no proper funding was available.
But we had loads of historic debt so I accepted the situation. We have not really been able to spend for aprox 13 years.

But when Jones comes out and says the days are gone of buying out of trouble it makes me feel lied to and cheated. As a second tier side in those 9
years Wednesday have not bought their way to safety! And very rarely got in the top half!,
Once I think they did that!!!!

The last spending of silly money was in the top tier
13 or 14 years ago. The top tier even then was
a different ball game financially.

But Jones implying we have done big spending to survive in the second tier for years is not true.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

This interview is another example of DJ not understanding the club, it's history, and not appreciating the supporters.
I know very few supporters who are expecting us to spend a fortune, personally I think £1-2million on the right players is all we need at this stage and that is well within the new rules.
I think the big problem we have is MM doesn't trust DJs judgement on players anymore. He has brought in a lot of players in the time he's been here, some are youngsters with time on there side, that's fine .
But he's already talking about selling on Taylor and Maguire who've hardly kicked a ball. Rodri, Mattock, Pecnic similar. Lee spent first half of season in limbo but been a revelation since he come in?
Coke & Prutton judged very quickly to be not even good enough for squad yet soon as they return they first team regulars?
Have to mention the JB and Mamy
loans! Nuff said?
I'm a critic of MM's strategy for taking the club forward, I personally think he should ensure we stay in this lge while he can spend a bit extra this year because next year that won't be allowed.
But when you look at DJs recent transfer activity and his judgement of players I have to say I can understand why he's not got his wad out !

Agree10 Disagree0

I totally agree with your comments

MM needs to make his mind up what he wants to do

He either backs DJ with money or he sacks him

Until then we are going nowhere, the new regulations come into force next year but I am far more concerned about THIS season

Dave Jones record of buying players is not good here at Hillsborough, so I can see where MM is coming from

MM still expects us fans to come and pay our money every game so make your mind up either put up or piss off

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Jan 2013 09:26:26
i am thinking more as the lack of money and transfer interest that the only reason MM doesn't sack Jones is that if he appointed a new manager not only would he have to pay Jones off but give a new manager money to spend to build his own team and I think that this is the major stumbling block as MM doesn't want to put his hand in his pocket for transfers

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Absolute rubbish. he got rid of Megson and Irvine.

Agree0 Disagree2

Been said a number of times before on this page that DJ must have a large payoff clause in his contract. As the poster above mentions MM isn't one to stay loyal to a manager if things aren't going right so there must be some reason why DJ is still here and I think its the fact that MM doesn't want to pay for new players and DJ's severence pay

Agree1 Disagree0

Well if it has been said on this page a few times it must be true.
