Just thought i'd give everyone an uptade on the goings on. We've pulled out on a bid for Mellor because he wants too high wages and O'Grady because the fee is too much. Instead turning to Padrig Amond on a one year deal and either Rory Fallon or Marcus Bent (both on frees). Reynolds set for a return to Motherwell for around 300k. Morrison could be moving to watford for around 200k but that is only if we manage to sign a young striker on loan (kiern agard).

Can tell your a liar, firstly Stuart McCall has already admitted thta any move for Reyonolds would be a loan as they are short of funds, secondly, Kieran Agard has signed for yeovil a couple of weeks ago. Thirdly MM and GM are not so stupid that they would bring in Rory Fallon 22 goals in 149 games and/or Chris O'Grady 19 goals in 66 when he says he wants a striker that will score goals. Fourthly, we won't be getting rid of Clinton Morrison as we only have two recognised strikers as it is so we won't be selling madine or him; Also we havent pulled out of a bid for mellor, read yesterdays star; He is still our 'No.1' target. Apart from that you might be correct about Amond.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Not only that but just been told mellor will sign 3 days before season kicks off so we wouldn't have to pay him 9 grand a week

why are people anticipating us to play lump it up football next season and talking as though we are already playing it? erm let the season start first jeez

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Look at the article on Sheffield Star website - titled Owls look to take the aerial route.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh from corners if u read it right plantpot

Agree0 Disagree0

You asked why are people expecting us to lump it next season. I gave you a suggestion and you call me a plantpot. I know what the article says because I read it. The fact that GM sets his sides up with big lads in it also suggests we will 'lump' it. He said himself it may not be pretty but it effective - to be honest I don't care about how we play or care about you - so toddle off and get someone else's back up

Agree0 Disagree0

We used to play the long ball game, and it paid dividends. It may not be attractive football but we got results. Regardless of how we play, 3 points is 3 points.

Agree0 Disagree0

So why u disgruntled at long ball even though u have just admited it is effective. . Contradiction springs to mind

Agree0 Disagree0

Read what I said again. Then ask me if I'm disgruntled. I said I don't care how we play. And it was never me complaining about long ball in the first place - I just simply gave you a possible reason as to why people are expecting us to play long ball.

Am I the only one who is now starting to worry about next season?
Think next season we will use the 4-5-1 more often than not and our squad next season will be
Goal - Nicky Weaver with back up from Aaron Jameson and Richard O'Donnell
RB - Lewis Buxton with back up from Jon Ostemobor
LB - Julian Bennett with back up from Lewis Buxton as Megson doesn't rate Daniel Jones as a left back and will use him further forward
CB - Rob Jones and Mark Beevers with back up from Reda Johnson and Mark Reynolds
RM - Jermaine Johnson with back up from Chris Sedgwick
CM - David Prutton and Jose Semedo with back up from James O'Connor and Cecil Nyoni
LM - Giles Coke with back up from Daniel Jones
AM - Liam Palmer or Giles Coke depending on if Coke playing left midfield
ST - Gary Madine with back up from Clinton Morrison and Nathan Modest which will give us back up if we change to 4-4-2.
Am worried we not signed anyone else and can't see anymore deals happening, if we can't afford 300k for Danny Green and 500k for Chris O'Grady? Players like Danny Green, Jimmy Ryan are the types of players we should be after that will improve and grow for the future.
I hope the list that they announced for 9 new signings wasnt a smoke screen to get people to buy season tickets and using names like Jason Koumas to keep people interested all summer?
We all want the Owls to be successfull but its looking more and more like Mandaric finding it a bigger task than her first thought
Think he expecting this squad to be challenging by January and if it is will use his money then to cement the push from promotion and if not will fire Megson and use the money to get new players in for the new manager
I hope I am wrong but currently very worried

Hope you are wrong : we did apparently bid for two more players last week- unsuccessfully. How realistic those bids were, we do not know.

Agree0 Disagree0

So do I but so far the only bids we have submitted have been nowhere near any other teams valuation of the player? Are this bids just going in so they can show they are trying to actually bring players in but have no intention of signing them? We need to get more realistic with our bids, surely 300k for Danny green would have been value for money?

Agree0 Disagree0

Possibility that the name Mandaric and the thought of his millions encourages other clubs to increase their valuation unreasonably. Who knows ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's be sensible. Everyone is going to know that MM has bags of money and will be trying it on when they quote prices for players. No surprises that all four players we have taken on board were free agents. MM is simply being careful. I've no way of knowing this but I'm sure it's very likely that GM will have four more players - including two more strikers - in the squad in two weeks time.
