For gods sake will the megson fan club give it a rest please. Yes he turned us around and had us in a play off position but it seems he gets better and better the longer he's not here. However auto promotion did not look guaranteed and dj got a far better tune out of the team, just look at the run he took us on and we still only secured promotion on the last day of the season. I too was disappointed when he was sacked and thought it very harsh but it happened and mm is not going yo re-employ him. So please let it go and give your support to whoever is hired. We can't move forward by looking backwards.

What difference does it make who gets the job of replacing Dave Jones? The damage is already done. No way can we stay up this season it's way too late now. MM could have prevented this several months ago when it first started to become clear that DJ was destroying us but of course he hung on in desperation trying to justify sacking Megson and replacing him with DJ. MM has to take some if not most of the responsibility. Remember under Megson when the players played with pride, how even if we lost the players gave the opposition a real good battle. How Megson used to take the players to the top of the kop to take in what it was like foe us fans. Remember how other managers used to say we were by far one of the best teams in the league and this was proven by our promotion. Great days. Dave Jones destroyed all that. Ok he was in the bosses seat when we actually got the promotion but we all know that it was Megson that got us there. DJ then went on to rip that successful team that Megson built apart. He replaced the players with lesser quality players and don't even get me started on his team tac tics etc. This team is now a shadow of the one under Megson and it lacks everything from ability to pride and from fight to passion.

Whilst I don't agree with many of dj's decisions I think you are looking at the megson era with rose tinted glasses. with promotion we had to strengthen as the players we had just weren't good enough for the championship. dj had to get new players with very little money so loans were always going to be used. Megson is not the answer although the 1 thing he could do that we need now is instill some belief and pride in the players. dj might aswell have been asleep in the dugout for all animation he gave off!

Ffs let it drop about megson. He's gone, live with it. Very overrated manager an funny how no-ones snapped him up. An don't tell me its because we were still payin him. His contract finished ages ago

Meg son won't be returning under MM, but had to respond to - overrated!
DJ used to say " look at my record", perhaps you should look at Megsons record because he's got a much better CV.
At least he has won promotions to Prem, he has taken a team in to Europe and got good results there, and he proved in his short time here he is more likely to get players over-performing than under-performing in DJs case, because he is if nothing else, a great motivator!

Some good points here, I agree that MM could have acted sooner and that DJ was at times shocking in terms of tactics and some of his transfer dealings, to balance that if we look back with hindsight Alex Ferguson was close to being sacked but was given time and turned it around spectacularly, sometimes with backing and support managers do get it right. Sadly DJ didn't.

You said "Remember how other managers used to say we were by far one of the best teams in the league and this was proven by our promotion. " This is true, but that was in League 1, the step up to the Championship is massive, many clubs struggle to continue to perform as they did in league 1 when they get promoted, this is not a shock and that must be considered. DJ did a job to keep us up the first year, his ultimate failing was that he didn't build on that in the way that we as fans would have hoped.

Whether GM would have done better is open to debate, we will never know. Perhaps giving him the chance to come in now and attempt to save us would answer that in some part but I doubt very much if he would return under MM or even if MM would want him back.

Either way, DJ made mistakes, the players must also bear some of that because they simply haven't been good enough. MM could have acted sooner, could have poured money in too but DJ was responsible for transfers and let's be honest here he brought in and sent out a hell of a lot of players and he didn't get the best out of his squad. He's gone now, GM is in the past too. let's hope that MM gets the right man in now and we need to put this whole GM thing to bed too and get behind whoever is coming in 100%.

For now, we need to get behind Gray.
