No hope of signing anybody now. Absolutely unbelievable signed 15 players and no proven goal scorer. We have signed Frostieri, Pudil, Turner, McGugan and Hunt who are good players and a promising player in Joao. The rest to me look unsuited to Championship. Also I know folks say give team time but if first impressions not good very few turn it around and to my eyes we have deteriorated each game. In last game defence appeared to have lost confidence which they acquired last season.
Carvalhal sounded lost in interview after Middlesbrough game and it was not an encouraging sign.
Can anyone truthfully say football we have seen is the attacking entertaining football Carvalhal was brought in to provide.

I couldn't disagree more. I think everyone we've brought in has been the upgrade we have needed and yeah it hasn't went so well so far but I hate to point out the obvious but we've only played FIVE games! Good lord

Disagree more? You serious? It's clear from day one we needed a proven striker

i do think that we have the individual quality, but not much else at the moment.

They have brought in more striking options in matias, joao, lopez, moudou, and frosteriri. I know I butchered some of those names so no need to correct me you know who I'm talking about. Then brought in better options on defense and midfield so you guys keep complaining all you want but it's not going to change anything. So they didn't get the guy you wanted we'll get over it. The team in a whole is still head over heels better than it has been in years. And if you can't get excited about the potential we have then go be a Chelsea fan.

Spot on AmOwl!
I know you're only stating the obvious but it really is amazing how many of our fans can't see it! Or refuse to?
We've been lucky if we got one decent signing a season for many years! - now they're not happy with 14 in a few weeks - unbelievable!
Also loan window opens in about a week and there's another transfer window in January? I think its safe to say the rebuild will continue?
But don't forget our Chairman said this is a two year project - not two months!
Get real guys!
For those who don't know the disagree box is below, feel free to click away, this and AmOwls post will still be the truth!

Come on seriously though we've signed 15 players and which ever way you want to spin it a proven Goal Scorer was the one position we needed most and for CC not to prioritise that baffles me.

I'm sure they tried hard for a striker. But I'm happy they didn't go silly and pay stupid money for one, I'm very happy with our transfer activity and stronger squad in depth now. Uto

After reading the facts why the deal fell through for Hooper I changed my stance regarding this particular player, well called the Chairman.
We are after all running a business lest we forget.
He was to cost 2 million for 8 months work, with no value in May next year, plus he wanted a box,or the deal was dead.He obviously wanted to play for the club,so as far as I am concerned its on your bike time.
As for box ticking or not ticking boxes, this is an opinion site not a popularity contest.
The only other comment I would make is very recently I said had we had the firepower last season of 7or8 clubs we would have been in the Prem, now this season after yesterday that has gone up to 10.
Lets hope when the results take a hit, which in IMO they will, the panel also take the flack.
Otherwise I can see by January CC looking isolated.
I know people do not like stats but I know 2 people who spend midweeks, and weekends filling out tick boxes on players in every aspect of their game, corners, tackles, headers, one on ones etc etc.Who wants this info, the clubs.
The truth is we still do not have IMO the firepower to reach the top 8.
Regarding the Chairmans target of the Prem by 2017,if we do not have 2 regular high scorers on board in eight months time, to earn the points for the 2016/17 season, I am afraid he will have to wait.I do however trust the guy to get us there, the Champs is IMO the toughest I recall, butwe have made significant progress. The problem is we are trying to win games in a different way from SG in his time. Frankel mentioned the defence looking uncertain, that's basically because the ball is coming back to them at the rate of knots,so when you score 2,1,1,1,1,1 in all competitions just the same as last year, one mistake and your in trouble that's the pressure they are under for 90 minutes.

Have to agree with most of your post South, very measured comments in the main.
But I have to correct your little dig about box ticking, you clearly misunderstand me. If I wanted to be popular I wouldn't post half of what I do.
Just the opposite in fact, I express my "extremely considered" opinion and like I say if others don't like it get clicking! The truth is the truth and doesn't change - opinion is something anyone can have and whether its based on facts or not seems irrelevant to many?
I was attempting to point out a few home truths to some of the regular moaners on here who are never satisfied. In particular that our Chairman has clearly demonstrated his intention of keeping his promise to the fans to take us forward and I like you firmly believe he will do just what he says.
He has spent millions already, brought in 15 quality players at this level, and very publicly tried to sign "the striker/s that everybody knows we need" to quote a few posters! But because he hasn't met "their wishes" (yet?) , like AmOwl says, they're still complaining.
Like the Chairman said its a 2 year project!
Like you said if we haven't got "the strikers" in 8months! ready for next season that will be a totally different story, perhaps.
But this is just one month , and 5 matches in to this season , so I was stupidly hoping we might just cut DC and CC some slack and support them in what they are desperate to achieve for all the fans?
Ridiculous aren't I? Please feel free to click any box you choose, or none I don't care tbh - just stop moaning!

Good afternoon Howler

I think you misunderstood the box ticking bit. Not phrased very well either on my part, so there.
I was defending your right to post any message you choose, and not to be concerned with who ticks what, and therefore somehow this invalidates the accuracy etc of your thoughts. Your opinion is always well considered, and although people at times see it from a different point of view. That does not mean they are right or wrong for that matter, neither does it mean if they tick either box, that makes you right or wrong either. An opinion can be made not imposed upon others.
As you say it does not matter, an opinion is just that, what people think of it is their view only, but it is the right of comment that matters as much as peoples opinion.
As you can see from my earlier post,I pointed out that we had made significant progress with the new recruits, and I trusted the Chairman, and supported his stance on Hooper.I thought that was cutting him a significant piece of slack, as for ticking boxes, I've grown out of that stuff.

Me too South, I'm too old to care sadly!
I wasn't referring to you either regarding "cutting some slack" its just some of the perpetual moaners on here who are never satisfied, happily spending DCs money, but moaning again when they are asked to pay a bigger contribution to what they want. Cheers for now South.

Well I do sometimes fly off the handle and speak my mind without thinking things through all the way, But I just can't stand nay sayers that are never happy and can't be pleased no matter what someone does. It was seen that they did attempt to bring in some PROVEN strikers as some like to call them but the deals just didn't work out and they won't always so sometimes you just have to make due with what you have and I personally think once they get rolling we will be fine. I'm kind of excited about the prospect of what our team could look like if or when we make it back to the premier league since DC has to money to build a Tottenham type team to atleast compete and not be relegation fodder every year. And hOWLer I'm down with you man I'd totally meet you at the pub and drink some beers with you if I ever came back to England!
