Why are people so negative about free transfers and see it as a cheap option? Good players are coming to the end of their contract all the time and in a lot of instances the club there at don't want to lose them its just the player doesn't want to sign a new contract to keep their options open and its a way of getting bigger wages as there's no transfer fee and there is also the issue with agents fees so they are far from " cheap options". If they are quality players then they're quality players whether there's a fee or not! I think (hope) there's some good times ahead in the near future! UTO
Totally agree. There are no free transfers, money always changes hands whether a fee to a club or for "signing on" fees and agents fee etc. If we could sign Matty Fryatt this summer on a "free transfer" would the fools say he was a no hope, cheap signing.
No they wouldn't but signing Fryatt? We've got slim and no chance and slim as left the building!
Kirkland, Semedo and Mattock to name a few are some players we have got on free transfers and they have been great players for the club. Still think that we may get Fryatt, it all depends on if he will lower his wage demands to get football at a club he enjoyed playing at.
Replying to the OP I'm glad that there are some sensible people on here too many seem to think if you pay a fee that's were all the clubs money goes i. e. without a thought on wages, paying fee;s is a very minor part and yes even if the fee is a million quid or more that fee is dwarfed by the players wages over the time he stays with the club.
Another season of let downs in the transfer market just wait and see
Has someone just said mattock has been a great signing? Are u serious? Did you not see then last few games? He is a total liability!
Replying to the 3rd poster, if and it may be a big if Matty Fryatt leaves Hull this summer it will be on a free transfer. That is the second posters point, there are very good "free transfers" available. There are very few players bought for transfer fees these days, there simply isn't the money about outside the Premiership.
At last sensible thread, just tink its worth pointing out we have spent money on actual transfer fees every season Mandaric has been here.
Reminders Halen, Antonio, Maguire, Taylor, Madine, Reda Johnson, Morrison.
It is not MMs fault that some have not worked out although some evidence we have some deent recruits.
Fully accept good players available on frees but as indicated previously on this thread even free players are expensive.
In seasons gone past all we have done is bought in bulk, too many average players and by releasing lots of players already that looks set to continue as we need to fill our squad! I agree we should get frees in if they are good squad fillers however the majority of the money should go towards buying 3-4 quality players including a good goal scorer
Let me get this right, you would rather us spend our limited money buying three or four players rather than try and get three or four players of the quality of the likes of Fryatt who are out of contract. If that is what you are saying I am glad you are not the owner of the club.
In all honesty we. the fans. can go on and on about who we want and do not want, but at the end of the day it is all down to S. G. , M. M. and our financial team as to whom we get. I know it is good to moan, groan, complain, compliment and praise players/staff/Management but in the end the hierarchy have the final say and we only pay our hard earned cash to them to make the decisions so let us get on with supporting the teams on and off the park and hope we do a lot better than the season just passed. I for one, and I think there will be thousands of others will turn up week in week out and voice or opinions and support the lads in blue and white.
