The size of the fee means absolutely nothing!
The ability of the player on the pitch and how they blend as a team, is what gets you places not how much they cost.
How many big money signings did Bournemouth & Watford have in their squad, or Burnley the year before that.
History is littered with players who cost massive fees and were total failures.
Lets forget about spending money and judge the players on what they've done on the pitch come the end of the season . please!

I feel ya hOWLer but sometimes you do have to spend money to make money so man if I was a bigillionare and I knew moving my club up to the premier league would make me an even richer bigillionare i'd spend what ever it took. I think for some the dollar sign translates to them their commitment to doing what they are telling us they are going to do aka be competitive and not mediocre. I may or may not agree but it does make sense though. But let's just hope it works.

And I wouldn't say Watford was a small market club last season either looking at their player values they probably doubled if not tripled ours. And Bournemouth was a Cinderella story IMO.

In fact last season only 2 teams had a combined lower player market value then us and that was Brentford and Birmingham and most were considerably higher so the fact that we did as well as we did does say something. I could post the list if your curious but its a lot of typing LOL.

Don't disagree with what you are saying American but I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying .
We are going to spend a lot of money on the team, investment as you say, and that's already started in fact.
My point is that every time we announce a player, certain posters express their disappointment that he hasn't cost multi-million bucks (in your currency)
The size of the fee may not bear any relation at all to the value they will prove to be to your team.
Lots of unknown players have a terrific season and then they are suddenly worth multi-millions!
Equally , look at players like Torres and Andy Carroll who clubs paid 10's of millions for and then go on to contribute nothing.
The size of the fee shouldn't be a measure of the players value to the team, he should be measured on what he has done on the pitch through the course of a season IMO.

Man I agree with you 100% I'm just kinda playing devil's advocate here. But I agree with you and understand exactly what your saying. I think what Bournemouth did last season was great and they are going to be rewarded handsomely but unfortunately that just doesn't happen very often. I will say that the players value is a way of measurement though and quality even, Its all a huge uphill battle either way though cause getting to the premier league is only half the battle the hard part is going to be competing with clubs that are able to spend HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS(POUNDS) on players like the Man City's and Uniteds and Chelsea's. But it sure would be nice to see it happen. I like the way the leagues are structured though its not something we have in the states and it makes it very interesting.

Just watched him on utube. He looks good, but we are going to need a creative midfielder or 2 to feed him
