whats the benefit and who are these kids we signed up? uto xxx

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Well we have little depth to our squad soI suppose first benefit is we have a couple of defenders. They are clearly for development squad, both released by Premier Clubs who presumably have stronger reserve squads than ours.
Its possible we can turn one of dev squad members into real asset. We took Caolan Lavery at similar stage and he hasbecoe an asset.
Few years back we took Whelan and Brunt who had been released and they became a success.
Young comes from very successful Southampton Academy and was captain of their development squad had a trial and impressed. Plays right back.
Sanders comes from Stoke City Academy. We need centre halves so will get opportunity to develop.

Not all will be a success but if you find a decent player a season will make it more than worthwhile.

Agree12 Disagree1

So its not due to loovens and gooch not signing as a scare buys. ? uto xxx

Agree1 Disagree5

It's a bit early to be a scare buy surely.
Especially with today's news.

Agree3 Disagree1

I don't believe till today's take over is written on the dotted line uto xxx

Agree5 Disagree1

Buying young is better than signing some old has beens that just want the pay check.

Agree5 Disagree1

This report has more credibility than any previous rumour. Radio Sheffeld which poured cold water on others has indicated it is accurate.
From questions uto seems to be glass half empty person.
The scare story question is something a fan of another club would put forward as a wind up.

Agree3 Disagree3

I can assure you i'm all blue and white! uto xxx

The trouble with the development squad is that they are mostly too old. IMO the development squad should be 16-18 year olds. If you are 21-23 then you are just not good enough because at that age you should be in the first team.

Agree1 Disagree2

Drogba, Klose, Ian Wright just to name a few didn't sign pro until late on, so it is possible.

Agree3 Disagree2

They are very much the exception. You only have to look at our own team, Wood, Beevers & Spurr are Div1/Champ players at best but all broke into our first team at a young age. If your 22/23 then the door is that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Drogba signed for Le Mans at 19 & and Klose for Homberg at 20. Both broke through into first team football not long after that, so hardly venerable old men. Just because you hadn't heard of them doesn't mean they weren't Pro's

Agree0 Disagree0

Drogba didn't SIGN pro until 21.
I'm not saying that you are incorrect, just that it is possible.

Good news day for Wednesday.

Two young lads signed for dev squad. Sanders from Stoke and Young from Southampton. Young said to be very close to first team standard and both captained teams at youth and development level last year.

Hafiz Mamadov, if he buys Wednesday it is superb news. He is billionaire and fills similar position in Azerbaijan to what Abraovic does in Kurdistan. In charge of all gas and oil exports out of country.

He loves football and acts rationally, did not sack anybody at Lens and team promoted to French top league in first season.

Expect our sponsors to be Azerbaijan on Fire next season. He has shares in Porto and is main sponsor of Atletico Madrid. He wants to own them as well.

Lens are just about best supported team in France, he has done hmework and realises with good team we will get excellent support.

Way hey are good times round the corner.

Believable12 Unbelievable5

Yet again I'm still waiting for the press conference.

Agree10 Disagree0

I hope we do get taken over and we get the funds to strengthen our team and maybe buy a few decent players and hopefully tidy up our ground because it's looking abit dated

Agree4 Disagree0

For one he isn't a billionaire he worth 130 million tops and second we have been here before. still waiting for the news conference or mm ti say something

Agree0 Disagree1

Past Hillsborough the other day and it is looking bad now.
Having said that, has anybody been unfortunate enough to drive past the Sty of late.
Makes ours look like Wembley.

Agree2 Disagree0

A couple of post have hit the nail on the head our ground needs improvement or if we get taken over maybe a new one

I have worked in Baku a few times over the years and witnessed the infrastructure grow at a fast rate of knots due to the offshore/onshore oil/gas resources.
This may be of no relevance but if Mammadov has his fingers in those pies he certainly be worth a few bob.
The Azaris also take their football extremely seriously.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I had not heard this chaps name mentioned anywhere prior to announcement. Think most of those who follow club have thought something in wind for a while. I was surprised to see players we had released saying thought we would do well and making complimentary noises for e.g Taylor.
Actions of Mandaric, challenge for promotion next season /put down of Jonathan Hope Qatari bid and clear out of players all indications bigger pot was cooking.
Hence think we should have known something coming!

Agree7 Disagree0

I think MM is a shrewd business man. I know I would keep my cards close to my chest.

Agree5 Disagree0

Heard this takeover talk before not believe any thing till signed sealed delivered

Mandaric been in talks with hafiz mammadov for a few months about him taking us over, I hope this ones true but in not counting my chickens, we've heard it before with a qatar group supposedly taking over, funny how its come to light when season tickets or up for renewell.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

What an personic comment relating to season tickets. 12,000 have already been sold for next season. Not sure if its you but persons make same comment reseason tickets if any rumour emerges between August and July.
Done some research, on takeover and heres what I have found out.

This is not a rumour, details were agreed in Monaco (Grand Prix weekend). Followed 2 months of intense negotiations, interest emerged earlier in year.
Reported in French daily L'equipe. Saying cost was E50 million. They are unhappy because they were hoping he was going to pump money into Lens. He has agreed to put money into newly supported club but wants to have club in English Premiership. He has Champion League aspirations and rewards on offer in Premiership are greater than other leagues in europe, hence desire to buy English club with potential.

Mandaric owned club in France and still has good contacts, this helped with getting Mamadov on board.

Agree5 Disagree2

What does personic mean.

Agree6 Disagree1

Personics is the trade name for a music recording retail system introduced in the 1980s.

Jeez, didn't you go to school?
;)

Agree2 Disagree2

Yeah 74 to 79.

Huge story Hafiz Mamadov has bought Wednesday, reported in L'equipe, Eurosport, Sky Sport, BBC Radio Sheffield.

Azeri billionaire already owns FC Baku and Lens. Has investments in Porto and Athletico Madrd.
E50 million investment to get us promoted.

Hopefully this will stop moaners posting.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

I'm sure the negsperts will still find an angle mate.
It's quite funny how they have been harping on about RU and our lack of ambition in comparison.

Sounds promising though.
