To all the doubters that have been saying recently that they don't want Megson back because they don't like his style of play should realise this... Football is a results business simple as that. I wouldn't care if each player did a cartwheel every time they got the ball as long as the result at the end of the game was a Wednesday victory. When Megson first got the managers job he said on radio that sometimes you have to play a certain way to get you out of a certain league. This proved to be right because even though the football being played wasn't the most attractive on the eye it worked hence last seasons promotion. Also the players that he signed along with the ones that he inherited moulded together perfectly as we can see now as those players are the only ones that are performing this season when given the opportunity. If it's true that Megson is still on wages at Hillsborough then this means that we are paying 2 managers at the moment which in a business sense is absolutely crazy. It also means that Megsons re-instatement would be easily rectified.

Believable20 Unbelievable5

Totally agree, about some of our less informed fans assessment of Megsons time here, they obviously couldn't appreciate what a superb job he did with little or no financial support .
In support of those views I repeat below what I said in another post on here .
I bet a lot of his critics would like to see him back now ?
Some of those who were saying ABSOLUTELY STUPID things like - - hes took us as far as he can ?
They said this about a manager who twice won promotion from Champs to Prem - on one occasion incidentally his team went on a long unbeaten run at end of season to clinch it (ring any bells lads?) - BTW Dave Jones has never done this!
They said this about a a manager who took over relegation threatened Bolton, went on to beat ManU amongst others and took them into Europe ? - BTW Dave Jones has never done this!
Well to those fans and MM, the price of sacking Megson so we could DEFINITELY be out of Lge1 this year, will probably mean we're back in Lge1 next year.
I would have put every penny I have that if we had backed Megson we would have been settled in the Champs next season one way or another !

Agree16 Disagree3

The above posts are absolutely spot on. I had my doubts about Gary Megson but now I realise and admit I was wrong. The togetherness and stability that he brought to the club was nothing short of outstanding which only goes to show how good his day to day man management skills were. He proved to be an expert at getting the best out of what he'd got considering his financial backing was reasonably lower than a lot of the clubs that finished lower than us last season. You can bet your bottom dollar that he'd get better performances out of Bothroyd, Taylor and co than the current manager is capable of and Madines confidence after last year would have been booming and Megson would no doubt have him banging them in for fun this season too. Instead we've got a manager who isn't capable of geeing the players up or making them feel proud to wear the shirt who's team tactics and selection as been nothing short of disastrous and when it comes to his transfer activity I'm appalled. Slowly but surely this club is going backwards and the most frightening thing is when we go down theres no way this current team that Dave Jones has put together will get out of league one. Infact we will probably struggle to make the top half of the table. By that time Milan would surely have to act and dismiss Dave Jones and all us Wednesday fans will be cursing him for not doing it now while the season is still young enough to replace him with a manager with a winning mentality who demands better than what we are having to suffer now. I bet this is killing Megson seeing what's being done to he did for this club, his club.

Agree11 Disagree3

I agree that we should have kept megson.I'm sure we would have gone up through the playoffs anyhow.
Even if we had lost in the play offs we'd probably have gone up this year and been a much stronger position to compete.
As it is now we will probably go back down and it will set us back years.

Agree7 Disagree7

No way will megson be coming back as much as ppl would like him to

Agree8 Disagree1

Perhaps not, but theres a lesson for MM , and the fans?
If its not broke why try and fix it ?
Megson , with very little support it has to be said, slowly built a ream which climbed the league and picked the whole club up off its knees and made us all proud again!
Look where the attempted quick fix got us, In a few weeks Jones has wasted all the hard work of last season.
Sometimes the good things in life are worth waiting a little while longer for .

Agree8 Disagree1

Well said , we should all be sorry for Gary and how he was treated, and I know he will be hurting just as much as the rest of us if not more.
We had a manager who had proved himself in the top flight and Europe , managing the club he has loved all his life, and MM decides to trade that for a person like Jones .
Then this week MM says trust him to do what is right for our club.
Can we? For a start MM why do you believe the man who couldn't have got everything more wrong since start of season will suddenly be able to win more than 1 game in 3 to end of season to prevent relegation?
All you are doing by stalling is making it harder or even impossible for the next manager to have a chance of rescuing us!

Agree7 Disagree0

Yes so he can then turn around and say we should have stuck with Jones. Let's not fall for it lads.

Agree2 Disagree1

Megson returns and if he fails we get relegated, lose the manager again and even worse lose the chairman who stopped Wednesday becoming the new Wimbledon. We seriously need to get our heads out the clouds we haven't been a top flight club for so many years now and we won't be again for many years to come if at all. Be happy there is a Sheffield Wednesday fighting for survival in the Championship it's far better than being known as AFC Wednesday in non league football playing at the local park!
Great things take longer than 6 months to happen.

Agree2 Disagree2

Thats just the point and your missing it . In your own words - it takes longer than 6months. So why didn't the chairman give Megson time ?
It was the chairman who was impatient not the majority of the fans, and its cost us dearly !!
In answer to your other point, lots of fans like you are mixing up business and loyalty.
MM bought us purely for business not cos hes a fan. His investments so far have largely been in the business, not on the playing side.
More important for all fans to realise is that if a buyer comes in with the right offer , it wouldn't matter whether we were top of Champs or bottom of Lge1 , if the money was right MM would sell , in a blink.

Agree5 Disagree0

Hooray to that

Agree5 Disagree0

I don't think he will come back and although i would welcome him,its maybe not the right way to go.
But neither is keeping DJ.
He has made too many mistakes.I've never known a manager make so many bad signings and be so set in doing the opposite to what the fans want.
He hasn't moved the earth at other clubs, regardless of this strangely big reputation he has and i don't think he is the right man long term.
Look how Mcarthy has turned Ipswich round and he is a man for the long term.
We need someone similar.
Yes its great being in the championship and on an even keel finincially but DJ needs to go.

Agree2 Disagree1

Afc Wednesday get a grip son where's your passion and pride not to mention ambition just because your happy fighting relegation year in year out doesn't mean we all are some of us want the glory days back ant there's nothing wrong with that . If we can't achieve that at least aim as high as possible !

Agree4 Disagree0

Well said proud fan.
We all know even if MM and DJ dont know that there was no reason for us to struggle this year. If our expert manager had brought 2or3 (proper) experienced players in key positions our basic squad could have held its own this season. Instead hes brought in kids and upset everybody at the club .
Nice one Dave, sold your house yet?

Agree4 Disagree0

This is what is annoying. We had a good team.It wasn't going to pull up any trees in the championship but we could have survived.
3 good(proper, as you say) players is all it would have took to give us that extra bit of quality and experience
There was no need for us to be struggling like this.

Agree4 Disagree0

Get rid of DJ and bring in Poyet. Bring back our loaned out players, send back Bothcrap etc., and start again before it's too late.

Agree3 Disagree0

We are not going to get the big name managers you folks keep on quoting, get a grip. However, Megson is a possibility and should be back.
I can only assume its the horrible, disgusting, inferior piggies promoting such propaganda.
UTO, FTB.

Agree3 Disagree1

Only saw Mcarthy and Poyet mentioned and they aren't managers we couldn't have attracted
.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCarthy def would have been interested he got family loyalties with Owls.
But I for one dont see point in putting names up cos fans dont get a say in manager otherwise jones would be history . Jones put a good word in for next manager by sayin even Mourino couldnt get them to play. That will put loads off n he knows it .

Agree0 Disagree1

Mourinho joining the Owls would be like the queen shopping at Aldi.

Agree1 Disagree1

It won't happen ......... we've ripped up his application cos MM couldn't understand a word he said .......... he was talking sense !!

Agree0 Disagree0

If your all so clued up on how to be a successful manager why don't you all put your names forward you seem to have the confidence and know how of the business. Get off footy manager and look at the real situation here to many times do Wednesday fans sink their teeth in and bite instead of getting behind the team. Who wants to go out and play infront of a load of boo boys!?

Agree0 Disagree2

Spot on mate!
You keep cheering all the way back down to lge1 that's just what's needed .
Open your eyes and take the blinkers off you might see what's really happening then

Agree2 Disagree0

I think mm needs to see how much we want dj out we should get some cards printed with we want dj out for the bristol city match and finally he might get shut off dj quicker

Agree0 Disagree0

To any fans that do not want to sack DJ and would not want to re-instate Megson, I have to ask you .... How many players has DJ brought in? 18? That is a hell of a lot of players. Ridiculous amount of players! And how many of them are actually any good??? Haahaha its an absolute joke, DJ has brought in so so so many rubbish players no better, if not worse than what we already had and people still say trust him. personS! How many players have Huddersfield brought in and were are they in the league??? Didnt DJ let Beevers go to Millwall? Who are now 5th in the league!?? Rob Jones to Doncaster who are flying at Top of league 1 and he is there best player! How can you trust this manager. I am always the last person to ask for managers to be sacked! I also was fuming when we sacked Megson it was totally out of order, but there are fans out there that agreed with sacking Megson and appointing DJ and now are saying trust DJ give him time!! Well your all personS! Bring megson back before its too F*****G LATE!

Agree2 Disagree1

Megson is not liked at many of his previous clubs in spite of success, they can not all be wrong. In his last few matches in charge of us we were struggling, did you go to Chesterfield? It was not all rosy.

Agree1 Disagree0

Jones is average, his record says so.
He couldnt pick a good un from 14 or 15 attempts. So i don't hold out any hope that he will fix it in january.
The squad isn't good enough and if he stays any chance we did haveof staying up will be gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Still recovering from a nightmare I had last night .
I dreamt that Bothcrap scored a hat-trick against his old club to beat Cardiff and save Jones job.
MM was so grateful he gave them both a 5yr contract ..... IT WAS HORRIBLE !!!

Believable19 Unbelievable4

You need to make an appointment for the doctors, having dreams that scarey cant be good for your health

Agree9 Disagree2

Don't worry we all have stupid dreams from time to time - Bothroyd won't get 3 all season let alone in one match.
Probably what you had for supper upsetting you.
You'll sleep a lot better on Monday when they both gone !

Agree11 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 12:48:02
Why don't the fans just sing "Ginger Mourhino" like we used to do when Megson was in charge

Dave Jones is a so called intelligent guy, he is waiting to be pushed so he gets his pay off, let's hope Cardiff do us proud

This club is OURS we are it's life blood

Agree5 Disagree5

Agree about Ginger Mourinho but what has this got to do with original post/thread?

Agree4 Disagree3

Bring in gary neville

Agree5 Disagree2

How can you call yourselves wednesday fans wanting cardif to beat us ...come on DJ do what you did last season and make us start winning again

Agree4 Disagree2

Dream on - DJ has lost the team and the fans, end of !

Agree4 Disagree2

Only 1 name for me = Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - young dynamic manager with the training and work values from Man Utd Management

Agree5 Disagree3

My first choice would be Megson, but being realistic that is unlikely to happen , so I think Solskjaer would be a good shout.

Agree4 Disagree4

Solskjaer already said no to villa so why would he come to us?

Agree1 Disagree2

He said no to Villa because the job obviously didn't appeal to him, for his own reasons.
He might feel the same about the Owls?
But until you offer somebody a job & terms, they have nothing to consider and nothing to turn down, put simply - - if you don't ask you don't get !

Agree2 Disagree0

Its Bothroyd that is bothering me most about DJ.
I'm absolutely mystified and its really annoying me to the point where i don't want to go any more.
I would love to see Rodri given as long a spell in the team.
I've not often wanted a manager to leave.
Eustace yeah and trev towards the end, although that was a big error,he was doing a far better job than we gave him credit for but we were spoilt at that time and wanted more.
But jones is just doing such a bad job and making so many mistakes i can not believe what's happening.

Agree6 Disagree0

Fernando Bothroyd.
He has lost it.I don't blame jones for signing him because he was a good player but its time to send him back now and give someone else a go.

Agree2 Disagree0

Solkjaer is winning leagues with Molde and he is in his own country, so why would he leave for anything less than premiership?

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 10:29:17
paul ince favourite to take over straight NO show me the way to oakwell pls

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Christ I hope this isn't true,we will be totally doomed with ince in charge,BRING BACK MEGSON!!

Agree13 Disagree5

Just been for 10000 bank loan putting on cardiff pay money back monday ,1875 profit thanks jones you made my xmas ,by the way jones you ARE A BAD MANAGER,wilkinson, charlton and big ron who by the way ,never heard them say they were good managers, but were, get burton back with you as soon as possible because boy do you need him.

Agree0 Disagree2

He's still paying Megson why not bring him back and let him finish the job.
I bet the players would love him back?

Agree4 Disagree4

Well, personally I say that if Jones will not get some results in the next two matches at the most then we ask our good chairman Milan to really do the right thing and make a good change. I mean a change to a manager with heat, influence and eagerness ... shall I throw my hat in the air and say what about DiCanio? he loves the club as he had played passionately for and was fans favorite and has an attitude (temper) that we may need in this club to get the best out of players .... look what he has done for Swindon for example !

Agree1 Disagree7

The same players that helped MM show GM out of the door? Apparently he had also lost the players respect.
No manager on this planet could get goals out of Bothroyd and Sidibe. It would be easier to draw blood from a stone.

Agree5 Disagree5

I'll be putting a tenner on the Owls to beat us. Should get 6 or 7 to 1 Stranger things have happened.

Redbird

Agree1 Disagree2

Put 10 in charity box rather than bookies pocket the players have given up.

Agree1 Disagree1

Would love to see MEGSON back, should never of been sacked anyway,at least the guy has some pride and passion about wednesday,he really cares about the club, and I bet it's hurting him just as much as it is us,he is wednesday through and through,u could see that just from his reaction when we done the blunts last season, happy days indeed.

Agree6 Disagree3

Totally agree, I bet a lot of his critcs would like to see him back now ?
Some of those who were saying ABSOLUTELY STUPID things like - hes took us as far as he can ?
They said this about a manager who twice won promotion from Champs to Prem - on one occasion incidentally his team went on a long unbeaten run at end of season to clinch it (ring any bells lads?) - BTW Dave Jones has never done this!

I would have put every penny I have that if we had backed Megson we would have been settled in the Champs next season one way or another !

Agree3 Disagree2

^^^ Love that comment, you cut megson and he bleeds blue! Would of liked for him to see have seen it through instead of being sacked

Agree4 Disagree1

Heard today Jerome was offerd to Wednesday an DJ turned it down as he didn't want to pay 30% of wages instead he goes for his team mate freebie goal scoring Sidbe (Not). time up for DJ another mistake what is costing the club immensely. Tyrone Barnett, Chris wood, dj cambell, Simeon Jackson, James vuaghan, tudgay, Beckford, Chris Martin ill stop there, all these strikers were available an who does he go for Jay I can't be botheroyd an mama save Sidbe !!!!!
Milan I beg you to make a change he's nothe man to save this great club think it from a business view you really want to be in League 1 orwhat?!

Believable5 Unbelievable4

100% agree so many better strikers were available and he went for players who have come to the end of there careers well done you clown

Agree5 Disagree2

Defo beckford or vauaghn would have been better option.

Agree6 Disagree0

Mr jones has got go.. give Lee bullen a chance.

Agree9 Disagree1

Jon toshak with bullen as no2

Agree0 Disagree8

Bothroyd has played crap in most games agreed. But when we signed him originally I (and a lot of others) thought it was a good signing.

Agree9 Disagree0

Coaching staff no good end of.

Agree6 Disagree2

At the beginning of the season if you had the same list to choose from but added Bothroyd to it, you'd have taken Bothroyd all day long so its very easy to say all this now he hasn't worked out how we'd have hoped! As for the comment for Jerome, I very much doubt he was offered if Pulis had plans to play him in the coming fixtures (which he has)

Agree1 Disagree1

Great post, totally agree with all that u have said,dj has totally lost the plot,he just has to go,Jackson,Barnett to name but a few, both would score the goals that we need,I even thought that might go in for emile Sinclair, instead he went to the bloody dingles.

Agree2 Disagree0

I have to disagree about Bothroyd I didn't want him purely from his goal scoring record. But he was a talent and should have done better than he has. What is bothering me is that he has constantly under performed but keeps his place whereas other players are given the odd game or part of a game and Jones says they have not taken their opportunities and doesn't even have them on the bench

Agree3 Disagree0

I think you are repeating what everybody been saying for weeks!

Agree1 Disagree0

Dj has 3 games left if we lose against Barnsley and Bristol city in the mini league he's gone. Pauli Di canio anyone?

Agree1 Disagree3

Why do you people think it makes sense to replace a nut case with - a head case !
Di Canio is and always will be an accident waiting to happen why replace one disaster with another.
Apart from that , purely on football, he hasn't had two seasons in management yet , and all that? in lower leagues !
By all means throw names in the hat but surely we all want somebody who has half a chance of succeeding cos we cant afford ANOTHER failure .

Agree4 Disagree0

Could be some management casualties over the Christmas period that would interest us. Most managers who are available are so because they have failed elsewhere. The only one who hasn't failed is Megson. Come on Milan I can understand you backing your man just as dj is backing his players but you have the power to admit you mistake, bring back Megson and still be well thought of

Agree2 Disagree0

Lee bullen sould stay as u21 manager for now
not ready

Agree4 Disagree3

Di Canio would not come to wednesday again becasue he hate us

Agree4 Disagree1

Jerome was offerd to Wednesday was a lie
his manager said Jerome and K Jones was not going out on loan and he played last night

Agree5 Disagree0

Wouldn't want dicanio back
He's a hothead and will probably fail like Keane has at a higher level.
On top of that, imo he walked away from wednesday because he wanted to go to a better club.Although he did take a sideways step imo but he wanted to go to london and probably got paid more at the same time.
He used crap excuses about not being treat right etc because he wanted out.
Good player but i never want to see him back at hillsborough.

Agree1 Disagree0

I disagree, I think D I Canio, would be perfect. Passion and commitment. That's what got him into trouble but if Danny 'Turncoat' Wilson had supported him, we wouldn't have imploded quite so dramatically over the years.
And that was the start of it.
The next step down the line was getting rid of Wood. Another passionate, effective player and since he left we have never had a decent centre half.
Finally, Ben Marshall, pure quality yet MM could not keep hold of him, yet payed the same for Antonio.
UTO FTB WTID WAAWAW

Agree3 Disagree1

So Di Canio has passion and commitment? I have loads of that too should I get the job?
Surely to give somebody a job you should ideally have some evidence that he can do it?
DiC has had less than two years managing in lower leagues being backed fully so hes had no problems to deal with?
How does that prepare him to take on a team thats struggling to stay in a very tough Champs who have a chairman who is impatient to get in the Prem without providing the manager with the resources to do that ?

Agree1 Disagree2
