I don't wanna be a spoil sport but why are we assuming this mammadov has got loads of money to spend? He might not have any! Surely if he did we would see some action by now

Believable9 Unbelievable17

I smell crackling.

{Ed029's Note - Nope.

Even worse then.
Give Mammy a chance ffs.

Agree10 Disagree2

Surely the fact that he bought RC Lens and gave em £20m for transfers and has just given em a further £15m

Omg why do people jump straight down the pessimistic waggin he's not been officially permitted as chairman by league yet so he can't spend money. Right now discussins with possible targets are happening but nothing finalised because he not allowed to spend yet.

Agree8 Disagree2

He won't spend a penny until he gets clearance by FA which should be either this week or next

Agree14 Disagree1

Most players on holiday, he hasn't been here a full week yet give the man a chance. Its going to take a little time to sort out who manager wants and how much will be available. You say we assume he has money what planet are you from he's just bought us for nearly 50,000 000 where I come from that is LOADS of money - if to you that's only pocket money why didn't you buy us and in less than a week you would have bought the Brazilian team - - - or- someone might say he might not have any money (daft aren't they thinking that about you) UTO

Agree7 Disagree0

In all fairness he has a point, when man city got taken over the signings came flooding in

Agree0 Disagree10

Once again we're going to be left with the unwanted scraps that nobody else wants. Like I've said, the new owners nothing but another name above the door.

Agree2 Disagree15

You really think he has just spent close to 50 million to see us slip back into League One? What planet are you on?

Agree13 Disagree1

'There will definitely be no takeover'.
Made themselves look daft before and they will do again.
Hence, Negsperts.

Agree10 Disagree2

I'd guess transfers won't happen until 1. gets clearance to officially become owner 2. gets the staff in he wants either a new manager or director of football then we should see some movement. I'm guessing nothing will happen on players for another 2 weeks.

Agree8 Disagree0

If he signs no one who cares our club is in decent hands for once, we have chance of rebuilding which takes patience and time, no quick fix, would you put time back 4 years with lee stratford!exactly, might take 2 or 3 seasons to build a play off team but i'm prepared to wait

Agree5 Disagree0

I see the term "negsperts" is raising its head again. Pity! When I argued long and hard for the removal of David Jones I had to endure streams of abuse with the word "negspert " at the centre. I think it is fair to say that those of us who campaigned for his removal were proved to be right in the end, "negsperts" or not.
We are all entitled to our opinions, some will turn out to be well founded, some plain wrong. No one should be called names for simply thinking other than the rest of us.

{Ed040's Note - well said

Fair point, but I also endured a torrent of abuse recently from a couple of fans on here for having a positive opinion, as did many others.

However, I can personally refrain from using the term until it happens again, but to be fair I have nothing to do with what gets posted and what doesn't.

Agree1 Disagree0

I will admit I used the term negsperts but that wasn't against people like yourself who had a measured and well argued opinion it was more the people who were being negative just for the hell of it. Even when positive things were happening they still got negative, rarely able to back there opinions up while shooting people down who had a positive opinion with backing. A case in point are the people who are complaining that we haven't signed anyone yet. Give the man a chance to get settled in his new job, not to mention the fact that the FA haven't officially signed him off as chairman yet so he isn't likely to spend any money until this happens. I will try not to use the term again however as I know it does annoy people.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks for your very good response. Hope the others have the same courage as you and sign their posts.

Agree0 Disagree1

A negspert is not someone with a different opinion - we all have those! It is someone who consistently sees the worst and brings a tone of gloom to each post. A few hints of that already with complaints that the new man is not splashing the cash despite not yet having finalised the takeover!

Agree2 Disagree0

I did have to laugh at the 'simply thinking different to the rest of us' though.
In reality the negative posts have been from the minority.

Agree1 Disagree0

Oops, read that wrong. LOL.

Don't be expecting any transfers to happen soon. As far as I know the FA haven't signed off on the takeover although this should be done shortly it just takes a few days to go through the paperwork. Having bought a house recently and seeing the paperwork for that I assume buying a football club will involve ten times that paper. Also as our budget has changed considerably probably most scouting that had been done previously can be pretty much ignored and a whole new set of players will have to be looked at, obviously this will have to be on taped footage and not live at this stage.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

I very much doubt that a whole new set of players will have to be looked at. However, I can imagine he has been able to cross off some of his cheaper options from his list and add more desirable, if not more expensive targets.
I still think there are a number of players out of contract than I'd be happier for us to sign with only about 2 additions being brought in for fees. We should continue to build slowly but I do feel like we need to at least pay what would be considered a substantial fee for a proven goal scorer.

Agree8 Disagree3

Agree with the first poster. This owner will want us promoted a. s. a. p. as he did with Lens. Forget mediocrity, expect quality compared to what we've had. Few of the current squad will survive.

I'm pretty sure SG will have been prepared for the takeover and prepared targets on the basis there's new owners coming in. After all they've been in talks with big mamma for a few months now we didn't know that but I'm sure the staff did, if expect signings as soon as they have clearance
