Not seen much comment on these pages about DJ interview with Rob Staton. He is normally cautious and does not over blow players abilities. Previously when asked about youngsters he said no one pressing for a place in first team. In this interview he said there were 7 first year pros pressing for a place. To my mind this is excellent news and suggests we have a lot to look forward to.

I don't understand. If we have seven first-year pros pushing for a place, does that include last year's young signings? Corry, McCabe, Mayor and so on are not first-year. Are they now seen as in competition with a new crop of youngsters? Sounds like an awful lot of bodies - or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

If you listen to Rob Statons interview with DJ available on Twitter possibly on Radio Sheffield site, you can judge for your self. I will listen again to words he actually uses and use verbatim quote.
I think we took on 5 or 6 new professionals from Academy plus there was one high profile defection (Hayden White).
I found it unusual as he made clear in interviews last year he did not think we had any to step up. So looks as though we have brought some players through (at last).

DJ stated the following;
" we have taken on some first year professionals who are now part of the development squad, there are some really good players, who have come back ready and are making an impact. " "We ae looking to push 6, 7, 8 yes 8 players into first team next year".

This sounds to me it would not include McCabe etc as they are not first year pros. Possibly Corry could fit the bill as still in first year. I suspect Nortey would be included as he would fit the bill, but not sure he has signed but think he was one development squad member on trial.
I have never seen a comprehensive list of Academy or Development players for over 12 months. New website failed to produce this information.

Before any false rumours start bout him trainin wiv us, tv teletxt says Jason koumas has asked former club Tranmere if he can train with them {Ed001's Note - he trained with them all season, he was already set to train with them, it was all arranged then. I can only think his agent (I assume he still has one) has put this story out in order to remind people he is available to play!}

From the recent posts on here I can only guess that Simeon Jackson has the same agent, his name is on here constantly.
