Who would have thought we would be in this position, June 10th hafiz mammadov reportedly worth over several hundred million to take over Sheffield Wednesday, three days to go and we are selling a player so we have funds to buy other players, brilliant.

Spot on pal

The truth is we've sold a player who lots of fans have mixed feelings about, and who was not available through most of our successful times last season.
If we sold him next week after the R-word has been announced nobody would bat an eyelid.
The crucial thing that is overlooked is the bid was on the table, the best time to sell is when you have somebody who wants to buy. And if we have players lined up who we might lose if we don't do the biz now surely it makes good sense to get it done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Once the announcement came out about the takeover and that they were still in the early stages of the takeover I kind of guessed we would still be waiting till at least the middle of august if we got lucky, and more likely the end of it, till the takeover got completely sorted. The fact that the announcement on June 10th came about because the french press were about to leak the story so HM and MM thought to make it public themselves. If they had had the choice they would have waited till at least due diligence had been done before letting us know so it would seem the takeover took a lot less time. So to answer your question, yes I did think we would be in this position at this point. It will happen, yes we may need to get a few loans in to tide us over till the winter window but there will be money to spend at that point.

June 10th is just over 8 weeks ago!
How long would you think is a reasonable time to transfer ownership of a £40million pound + business?
Particularly when that sale has to satisfy not only the necessary requirements set down in law, but also the requirements of an independent regulatory body, the Football League.
The time its taking doesn't concern me at all because surely it will be worth the wait? However long it takes!
I just wish some of our fans would be more patient and understanding of the situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

No take over, No money, no money been paid to MM for the club. It has NEVER reached the stage to be put in front of the FL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mandaric came out and said antonio didn't want to be here so atleast we got something and it wasnt a di canio carbone job where we got a 1 pound or less! we wants pride and passion playin for our team not players with can't be bothered selfish attitudes! mm and hm will have a plan and patience is a virtue for sg and our massive fans! if it was going to die the deal of the takeover surely it would of happend by now!? uto xxx

I can't help but feel after seeing forest sign two players today that they got Antonio on the cheap. It's rumoured to be between £1.5m and £2m. Forest then on the same day bought Britt Asombalonga from Peterborough for an initial £5m possibly raising to £8m. Somebody needs to get a grip, us for selling one of the only players we have chased and paid for in recent years or forest for paying a possible £8m for a league 1 striker. If you look at it I think we could of got more considering forest's need for attacking players. Peterborough obviously played hard ball and well done to them as they can now afford to buy well. And we might be able to buy 1 player like for like.

First of all I would like to wish Antonio the best of luck.
I've just read a article from the Nottingham post and Antonio says he believes he will flourish and score more goals with the service from Reid, Vaughan and lansbury. Is it just me or does anyone else think that could've been his problem, the fact that he doesn't realise that we signed him to provide the service not for someone else to provide. It's alright somebody giving him good service but if he blazers it behind and over the bar then someone needs to tell him it still doesn't count as a goal lol.
Although saying all that he can win games on his day.

Nottingham Forest fan here. Is this antonio any good and would he even make the Forest bench.
I hope you owls stay up this season I think you are to big a club to go down.

Have a good season and try not to be to unhappy this season.

I don't think we will be struggling to stay up mate.
Anyway. Antonio's is a good player, on his day, but last season there were more off days than, say, ON days. He's big, strong, and decievingly quick. The one thing he can't do is cross a ball. Old pearce might want to sort that out on the training field with a few balls if he's wanting a winger to put it on a 50 pence piece.
Good bit of business for us anyway, more than doubled what we paid and get rid of a player I suspect probably wouldn't be first choice for us next season.

Put it this way he's not as good as Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles who you had to sell, not consitant enough for me so good bit of buisness as far as i'm concerned.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh it's our old friend cooperred.
Firstly I like Antonio, he's a good honest lad that works hard although some fans slag him for been lazy in his defensive duties but I disagree. He's a strong runner with the ball and not afraid to run shoulder to shoulder with the defender. My biggest problem with him is his touch and basic ball control, far too often he loses the ball because he simply doesn't have it under control and frankly his quality of ball into the box is disappointing. He very regularly gets in great goalscoring situations and fluffs it. Can be very frustrating.
As I say I like the kid and on his day he can be superb and win you the game. I wish him the very best of luck.
In conclusion I would ask myself this question. If Wednesday was to pay £1.5m - £2m on a player and it was Antonio would I be happy? I have to say probably not because I would expect for that kind of money more consistency. I've tried to be as honest as possible. I hope that helps you. One final thing is it wouldn't surprise me if it came back and bit us on the bum but I wouldn't be surprised if he spent some time on the treatment table.

Didnt forrest get matty fryatt? uto xxx

He will definitely make your team but that's no indication of him being any good as at the minute you are a selling club rather than a buying club. If you are seriously interested rather an a banal wind up merchant then the issues He suffers from are a lack of final ball or shot and is injury prone and slightly over weight/bulky. I think if you pay two million he is over priced and indicative of a team/manager panic buying. Similarly I think you might have too much quality in depth to be relegated. but we said that when you were in the premier league! Enjoy.

Antonio being sold to fund signing of Stevie May.
He would be a 20goal striker!
Great deal if we can pull it off?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totaly agree with you would be a very good deal, I saw a few st johnstone matches on the box last year and he looks a very good young player, if there was 1 realisticy priced striker I would have wanted more than any other it would be May. Anything under a million is a steal I say

Agree0 Disagree0

Kelhar signed up!
Top defender from evidence against Toon last week.
Keeper dept and back four strengthened significantly and we not even got the R-word sorted yet!
But there's time left in this window, then loans, and another window to follow!
It doesn't all have to happen now.
Be nice to see a few more optimistic posts lads - I'm convinced we will be very competitive right through the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

With antonio money if we can marshall and stevie may then rest loan deals based on current events I would be satisified uto xxx
