All those who are shouting for us to get a new chairman. Do you want us to go and rush into getting a new chairman like Leeds have and get someone like Cellino who tries to sack the manager before he has taken full control of the team, or would you like MM to make a careful considered decision and find someone who has the money to take the club forward but do it in the same controlled manner that MM used to get us from lg1 to where we are now. Personally I will take the later

Yes and so would the vast majority of true Wednesday fans. It is only those who live in Walter Mitty land that think money grows on trees and billionaire persons are born every minute.
Progress we have made as a club in last couple of years is substantial.
From evidence of last weekend you know new Leeds owner is going to be a nightmare.
If radio sheffield asked questions re club as a whole it may help to get across progress made re scoutig and academy set up and what promise they are showing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I agree with everythin you say apart from the academy. Not convinced about them or the development squad (cum on this is the old fashioned reserve squad under a different name) there results are'nt all that good. How can a development squad include people in their late twenties an early thirties?

Agree0 Disagree0

Accept Development squad is a reserve team by another name. However we have continually dafted in young players to try and unearth some quality. Caolan Lavery was one of the first brought in and he has now shown the potential of that system. We have a very promising striker on our hands.
When was the last time previously we brought in a young player like this and he came good. It is many years ago.
The results of our reserves and academy teams have been poor for years. This year we have had some good victories but have a couple of youths showing real promise. Frank Betra is a promising young forward who has been on the bench and 16yro Jack Stobbs is an extremely promising goal scoring rght winger. He too made bench for Millwall game. Charlie Dawes has also shown some talent and regularly gets on scoresheet. We were drawn against Chelsea in FA youth cup and although we were outplayed by an exceptional squad in the last 20 mnutes our players started to come to terms with their opponents. We lost 4:1 against their full strength team and they had been demolishing reseve teams of all top clubs by similar and greater margins and did not play all of their stars. This was after we beat a talented Crystal Palace side who have reputation for producing high quality youth sides. Our best academy side in years. what's more Iam reliably told the next 2 years intake includes some exceptional talents. Our under 18 side recntly beat Leeds 5 : 2 and it included under 16 players. On same day our under 16 side beat Leeds U/16 team although had several players involved at older age level.
It is quite a while since we had as much to smile about at youth level. By the way Leeds youth set up has been consistently good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everything said about development squad is true and will certainly bear more fruit in the future.
But for the sake of honesty and accuracy we can't take too much credit for the development of Caolan Lavery, other than last few months of course. He was well known prospect within the game long before he joined us.
But we did persuade him to join us ahead of other clubs who were courting him.
It was reported at the time that Coalan thought his prospects of breaking through into first team football with a big club were better with us and so far he is proving himself right.
Thankfully he has Stuart Gray to oversee his further development now and not the other bloke before him whose name I have quickly forgotten.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you undeestimate how much Lavery has come on. He had been courted at confeence level, prior to joining us. Three years ago would not have been aware as had no scouting.
It was difficult finding him a team to go on loan to last year and it is only because Sheridan has links with club he got loan this season, he was tipped off about how well he had done in last few months. Sheridan took a chance and was rewarded. I was suprised how well he did against Leeds and has shown up well since.

Think does not have to improve much more to be a egula at Championship level.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have also brought through Liam Palmer! Hayden White is also now playing 1st team football at Bolton & we brought him through.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not underestimating how he's come on, he certainly has.
My post was simply for accuracy.
The DevSquad is doing very well we don't have to over-egg it, let's just stick to facts.
As I said he was very, very well known in the game, we didn't "discover" him, he actually spent two years at Ipswich before he even joined us, so hardly a discovery!
He had lots of offers from a large number of League clubs including two other Championship clubs who made no secret of their interest. West Ham were also rumoured to be interested, but?
It was all widely reported at the time, there may have been more.
But he's been "famous for his age" since he was very young, and having been at another Champs club previously for at least 2years, we can only claim a little credit - so far!
Watch this space though because he has a bright future!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you are reading too much in what I stated. Accept what you said about him is true beng at Ipswich and being promising talent. But had been on trial at Cambridge and playing for Oxford (or vice versa). I was refering to improvement since he joined us which has been significant, this was what I was refering to as development. Ipswich released him if he was that good you have to ask why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats wrong with the facts? - they are all available so why ignore them?
He's never had anything to do with Oxford or Cambridge!
He wasn't released by Ipswich, just the opposite!
He turned down a Pro contract there because he wanted to move, and they weren't happy about it.
He had trials at Spurs, Sunderland Leicester etc. and had other good offers.
He chose us for the reasons I gave - He thought he would breakthrough in to first team football quicker with us than some of the other options he had.
We are producing some good kids of our own but Caolan Lavery isn't one of them.
Thats all I'm saying, Lavery was a brilliant capture for us because he wasn't that much of a gamble, and potentially a star of the future, most of the hard work had already been done before we got him.
We have continued that good work but please give credit to Caolan.
The coaches will tell you he has worked hard since he joined us to earn his chance.
You said he'd only "been courted at Conference level", as if we'd turned him from an ordinary kid in to something special. that's not true and an insult to Caolan and you obviously didn't know about his history at all.
He's always been special!
He had 8 International youth caps before he even came here.
Give credit to our Dev setup for what they've done because they are having some decent successes, and in time it will get even better, no doubt about it.
But making stuff up just undermines all that good stuff they do.

Not seen anyone try so hard to be sent off as frimpong in a while. Three very easy reds for ref to decide on. Three points to the Wednesday and agent Wilson whinging about extra time.
Good weekend, loads of positives at present; 6 points safe and game in hand on clubs around us! Transfer window doesn't mean much to us shopping for loans either, re-opens soon. Wawaw
