Hope we're all happy now? sounds like we're after that little fat thing from Rotherham and down the snake we go. Gone backwards again and another fine mess you've got us into.

The clubs a joke and the supporters are top if that list.

Holloway or bring back dave jones! Please!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rob Stanton has spoken to Rotherham chairman and no contact has happened between them and swfc about Steve Evans. I hope he is soo right

Agree0 Disagree0

Well its just bin on tv that they "understand" we Av approached rotherham

Agree0 Disagree0

Tasteless and stupid comments by one of our fans, if he is one of ours which I doubt it very much, naming Rotherham manager li. fa. ! I don't even like to say it. My apologies to rotherham's fans on behalf of our good majority owls' supporters. He is a good manager and may be a good person, whether he'll be our manager or not, doesn't really matter. I wish you didn't post it Ed! (NDS)

Steve Coppell has quit as DoF at Crawley, where is he off do you reckon?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Of all the suggestions I've read, that is probably the best. Fantasic record and fantastic guy. PS I'm not his agent. JR

If Warnock gets the job I won't be going, think a lot of people will do the same

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let's face it. We should accept and support anyone who can dig us out of this mess - for mess it is - no strikers and Jones' famed building looking like rubble. A tough job for anyone- needs a tough, resilient manager. Whoever is to be our next man, get behind him for all our sakes.

Bye bye I will.

Just been on some of the betting websites and for some reason Warnock is favorite to be manager. Really can't see this happening as this would alienate a huge proportion of the fans and I don't think MM is that stupid. Other favorites are Pearce, Cotterill and Appleton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Steve Evans has shot up the betting list today.

Cant wait to read this site on wednesday
all the rumours about the managers in the directors box the posters "have seen" at Tuesdays game {Ed001's Note - Appleton was at the last game oddly enough, but I wouldn't have thought Mandaric could possibly be that stupid could he??? He must have been there as an ex-Blackpool manager, I hope for your sake's anyway.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too ed. I was poster who replied to your last post when I said Appleton ad Blackpool connections. Don't want him {Ed001's Note - that was Ed003 you replied to mate, but your point still stands.}

Danny Wilson has expressed an interest in the job - he's done it before, is currently out of work so no expensive compensation package, and clearly loves working in Sheffield. Why look any further?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Danny Wilson was the beginning of the fall! He was terrible! No way do I want him! He ruined us getting relegated from PL

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he's useless, please post sensible comments

Gray is in charge for the Leicester game with Bullen as his assistant, which rules out a new man being in charge before the game. Still could have named the new man by them though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've heard Gray and Bullen will be in charge at the weekend too although the new man should have been named by then. This gives the new man time to assess the squad but also a full week to settle the team into a new regime.

Here we go again!
Worrying about our next one to fail?
Think back!
Only success in my time of watching the lads ( 60 yrs ) has been when we appointed 2 big names --
1. Big Jack got us up and going from the lower reaches
2. Big Ron did the business in style in the early 90's.
Formula?
Is there a "big " someone out there?
I don't know, but some of the names being bandied around fill me with dread!
Of course, I forgot Wilko! Who did a great job also, and has been terrific in recent times as stand-in chairman.
Formula?
Former player!
So take your pick from 2 Italians. I'm not convinced. So, where do we go from here? Bring back Meggy? Could do worse, but MM will not retract.
For now, I remain one of many long-suffering ex-Sheffield Owls not looking forward to my long drive on Tuesday night.
Sleaford Owl

Believable0 Unbelievable0

60 yrs. same as me then. You forgot to mention Catterick who could have bin our best ever if the chairman had backed him when he wanted to sign Joe baker. That p----d him off. He went to Everton and the rest is history. winning the league an beat us in the 1966 cup final

Agree0 Disagree0

Steve Evans. he's a big un

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, sorry to have forgotten " Big Harry ".
That was some team back then, until 3 of them went down!
Remembers Spurs had gone almost half way through the season unbeaten - until we did them at Hillsboro 2-1. I think we had about 65,000 in attendance, but correct me if I'm wrong ( things always seem bigger when you're young ).
I suppose looking back, we have had at least 2 very good spells since the late 50's, and some silverware ( v Man U - which makes that very special ).
Compare that to SUFC! Absolutely nothing! So it could be worse!
If things are going in 30 year cycles, we are due another spell about 2020 -- reckon I can just about hang on till then - how about you?

I was bang on the halfway line standing at the front on the terracing on the north stand. Crowd was about right. mclaren was in goal an made a wonder save. Seems like a past life dunnit? Happy days

Agree0 Disagree0

Trevor francis he did allright.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remeber 7-0 against the league leaders west ham?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya harry caterick did a fantastic job and brought players through like fantham, kay, swan and spent very little money, but when he did want to bring in joe baker the board would not back him so he went to everton and look at the job he did there

Thanks dj for the buzz of promotion except from my kids being born I can't not remember a time were I was as buzzing as that day but from then on we have gone back words. Mm finally you have done the right thing now get somebody with Wednesday in there blood. Chris waddle David hirst des walker what a dream team. I'd go for di canio

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a load of bull!
Hirst, waddle and walker what planet are you on?
Tell you what why not also invite hodge, bannister, Cunningham, mad don, chapman, stainrod, Shelton, viradi, sterland and so on and so on!
Wow what knowledge some people have NOT!

Agree0 Disagree0

Waddle has recently signed for Hallam as a player and not done anything as a manager since his brief attempt. He was knocking about in the Wragg over 40's league as a player up until he recently signed on with Hallam, my old man played against him past few years in the Wragg League, it's a graveyard of ex pro and semi pro players haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

It does make you wonder why so many fans want ex players as manager. Can't think of many occasions where this has brought success? NB

I think Warnock would be a good shout until the end of the season possibly by then a takeover will have been sorted and a long term manager can be installed with some money to spend. just a thought

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not a bad suggestion but would the fans accept Warnock?
JR

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock? What planet are you on?
If ever he managed sheffield wednesday would be the day when me and several thousand other passionates would turn our backs on the team I've supported for the last 40 years!

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock is the ultimate sworn enemy. it cannot happen. we would feel betrayed. god help us.

Agree0 Disagree0

So if Warnock comes in and gets us up the table and keeps us up you still would not want him astonishing, who then an ex legend with little or no experience or another out of work merry go round manager good God think with your heads not with your hearts, Neil warnock will get any team fighting it does not have to be a long term appointment just to keeps us up and as him being our sworn enemy grow up and get over the years of banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here here

Agree0 Disagree0

The man is a blade. it, s in his blood. they are brought up to despise us. it, s not just banter, it goes deeper than that. if he comes as manager watch the gates drop by at least 5000. MM will be aware of that fact

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter rubbisH Wilson got the same garbage and nearly got them promoted, staying up is the only consideration end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing is I don't think he would fire us up the table. Speaking to some LUFC fans today and they said Warnock was terrible in his last season there. He had money to spend but spent it badly, his tactical decisions at times were apparently bad and they also said that their team looked devoid of passion in his last few months in charge. Add this to the mutual dislike between him and the club I just cannot see this working.

I am another who didn't call for DJ's sacking at the start of the season but I'm not going to come on here saying oops sorry I got it wrong because by the end of last season DJ hadn't done anything particularly wrong apart from some god awful boring tactics and not playing a few players for some unknown reason. As far as I was aware DJ didn't fail his brief in his first two seasons, when he took over from Megson he was to get us promoted which he did. The second season he was to keep us in the Championship, yes it was a close run thing but he did. This year he was supposed to push on and get a lower mid table position from my understanding and obviously this hasn't happened. It has taken this long for him to be sacked as up until the Derby game we were showing improvement in every game but then it went badly downhill again.
