So Wednesday lose again and the excuse is one lapse of cocentration cost us. So Ok thats it excuse over till the next game. Dont get me wrong I did not expect us to win every game.
I did think we may be lower mid table maybe.
after 20 games I thought maybe 6 wins, 6 draws
and 8 losses. That record would give you a chance of survival. What we have got is way too many losses. We should have got something from 5 more games than we have.
What really depresses me is people including the chairman and the manager saying this is a tough league. I know it is but one thing is certain Wednesday will not survive this season. They are on course to lose 30 games this season.
Gary Megson would have got us in play offs if he had stayed last seaon but maybe we would not have got us promoted as the team had slipped a bit
early in the new year. MM made a change and gauranteed promotion. To do what? go back down again. We may as well have got beat in the play offs finished 5th and had another go at promotion under Megson this season at least we would have continued the upward feelgood factor. So next season do we try and get promoted from lge 1 again? Suppose we do get promoted next season back to the championship will the chairman and the manager make excuses by saying how tough the championship is and somehow imply that the championship is too difficult for a club like wednesday?
Then you hear people say Wednesday is a big club.
If it is a big club, staying up should not be unrealsitic should it? Dont want to fall out with Owls fans but I am in total despair when the manager and chairman of this club almost say you cant expect to stay in the championship!
I thought we had left the crap of Hulley,Grierson,
Allen and Strafford behind?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Eloquently put, and perfect sense.
I have posted along similar lines many times.
The bottom line I suppose is I/we just don't get it ?
What is MMs agenda?
Why would he invest the millions in acquiring us, appear so impatient for progress that he sacks the manager when in play-off positions, achieve the goal of that promotion , THEN stand idly by while it all goes nipples to the sky ??
Why has he not been as decisive this time around ?
Surely there's more at stake now than there was when he sacked Megson?
We are very close to starting next season where we started 2 years ago?
Surely its time for MM to admit that like all humans he's capable of making a mistake, correct it by sourcing a manager with a pedigree instead of a reputation , and support that new manager to get us out of this mess before its too late !

Prutton recall was just bizarre.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

DJ was struggling for a new name to put on team sheet .... and Prutts walked in !
Had a reasonable game by all accounts though - specially compared to Boothcrap !

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering Hemroyd didn't play I would hope Prutton had a better game than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he meant Prutton made a bigger contribution than JB has ever done, which is what I thought also. But you were just being anarse I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Handbag at 20 paces or what?

I really hope Hemroyd and Sible can stay injured for the rest of the foreseeable future.

Taxi for big mamma he is injured again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know it's only a game but I bought Sible on FIFA 13 and he is socslowmand immobile it's hilarious.
Maybe DJ should start playing Fifa 13 and learn something.

played very well? please! i don't care how we played we still lost! id rather play rubbish and win than 'play well' and loose!
Jones out and half if not all players with him!
garbage!!
rant over

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I don't think we even played well! They had 15 shots on target! and we had 5! It shows how much we were dominated! It's stupid. He can't say we played well when if looking at the stats we played that rubbish! DJ out!

bristol city next, should win that one easy.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

WHY ??
I'm guessing you've come to that conclusion based on our amazing form over last 20 games?
To win a game you have to score more than you concede and not done that too many times this season !
Bristol will be fancying there chances with our record !

Something odd has been happening in the last few weeks. Strange zombie like creatures with half a brain have been seen climbing from the sewers of Sheffield. It is thought these creatures are Blunts. They were thought to have become extinct in May shortly after Steve Simonsen launched a football into near Earth orbit. These creatures appear to have been revived as their team has managed a run of results while the Owls have struggled. If you know a blunt remind them of two facts. ONE - Wednesday's problems are to an unusual degree down to an erratic manager. He is not likely to last long and when he goes a few wins will ensure Wednesday's survival. TWO - the little pink chaps down the lane have an amazing ability to self destruct. To get promotion they need to keep winning game after game after game. These may be dark days for the Owls but come May with Jones gone we will be safe and who then would bet against some more comedy in the play offs from the piggies?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry to burst your bubble but odds are more favourable that we go down and they go up, if a new manager does come in and i hope one does he will only have the players we already have, if one comes in before january do you think MM will be giving him money to buy more players, be nice if it happens and we climb table, cannot see this happening MM as said that he is sticking with jones, with the players he as brought in the only place we are going is down if he continues to play boothroyd and sidibe.

Agree0 Disagree0

We only need 2-4 proper players in key positions and the team set up properly and we can stay in this division.
But the new manager will get that money, I can't see DJ getting any more .

Agree0 Disagree0

More like 12-14.
Jesting, it's true there are key departments that need adjusting with quality, but MM for what he is worth is bargain basement. He is Neto, but we need Sainsburys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he is, but cant understand why he wont front up for those 2-4 players we need.
Surely he would recoup that investment in the value of the club. - we must be worth more as a secure Champs club than one thats hanging on in there with skin of our teeth. Really don't get him !

Strange Bothcrap is not in the team and we play with passion and commitment, players run and challenge and we are unlucky not to share the points, (Cardiff's managers view not mine), is there a link there. Prutton in the midfield to give bite, our midfield was our weakest area last season and no quality players have been brought in to bolster it, almost every game we have been second best in midfield. Yet Jones brings in players for the "future", if we do not survive in the Championship there is no future for at least a few more season and we can't afford that. Time for Jones to get the message and either remedy the problems he has caused of go.

What's all the fuss we were just unlucky today; DJ said so. Oh hang on he says that every single match.....

I'm sick of this nonsense from Jones about how tough this division is and how it takes time to adjust. Tough? a division which includes such footballing super powers as Barnsley, Hull City, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Peterborough. Who needs the Champions League with quality like this? As for taking time to adjust how is it that almost all promoted teams in the last five years settled and certainly faster than us? I just have this nagging idea that our problems might have something to do with a manager who has lost the plot. It started with discarding Bywater a keeper with Championship and Premier League experience who controlled our defence well last year. Who do we get? One cap England keeper Kirkland a man who had a terrible record of conceding at Wigan and has now managed one clean sheet in 20. Then he signed two clapped out defenders, and for good measure shoved to one side O'Grady and Madine. We have had Boothroyd inflicted on us who has managed one goal in what 14? And he's a striker. We then sign as loan players a striker who has never scored that many and has been injured for nearly two years and a defender who was kept out of his last (lower league) loan club by a loan player from Wednesday. Managers are often unfairly criticised for players failings but it's hard not to conclude 90% of our problems are Jones related. We may not be promotion material but put the right man in and we should be mid table.

Dave Jones hasn't got a clue can see that with side he's picked today,
whether we win or loose he just picks first player that pops into his head

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We been a lot better team spirit

Agree1 Disagree0

Nothing to do with Bothcrap missing ??

Perhaps Jones will see it now - if its not too late for him already !!

Agree2 Disagree0

Gary gary lad you got to put them chances away

Agree0 Disagree0

Played a lot better today a lot like we can play and all without the main man bothcrap

Agree1 Disagree0

We down thanks milan

Agree0 Disagree2

To be fair 1-0 at Cardiff is not a bad result. If we can play like that every game we will have a chance. The issue is goals and Hemroyd or Sible just can't provide them.
However, we do have options but DJ will not utilise them.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Dec 2012 15:06:39
Prutton is in the team, I didn't see that one coming. Although I believe DJ is playing him at scrum half.
Nice to see Hemroyd injured and it will be interesting to see if we do any better without him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sounds like we're putting the effort in at least.

Playing very very well

But the shape put out on the field is unlikely to lead to an avalanche of goals.

Why are we playing two knock down players and why prutton he couldn't get in Scunthorpe side.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Looks like we need someone to get on the end of the knock downs...
Also Prutton might struggle now at this level. Well see.
No Semedo? not even on the bench.

Reasons for current failures?
1. Too many players were very good in league one but are they good enough for the championship? Lines, O'Grady, Buxton, Llera, even Semedo some would say, though the essence of his game is to stop the opposition. You need to play a system that suits him.
2. The quality of close season signings was questionable. We were crying out for a right sided centre back to replace Bathh, and a midfield general.
3. Loss of two key players; Burton for his organisation and Reda for his ability to scare the opposition in their box (and us in ours).
4. Inexperience; Madine, Corry, McCabe, Mayor, Rodri (I know he's not our player) and Palmer all look good future championship players. Not to mention Beevers...Barklay clearly has class but apart from 4 goals he wasn't what we needed.
5. Players signed and left to languish; Pecnic, Lee, Mattock, Maguire, Rodri. Preference has been given to loanees, and a couple of those are well past it.
6. Disorganised defending. I've not been impressed with anyone really.
7. Probably most important. The relationship between players and management has clearly deteriorated. Confidence has gone.

Not all doom and gloom though; Antonio's player of the season so far IMO.

So what now?
IMO start again. Sign a good centre back and a midfield general. Oh, did I mention changing the manager?
JR

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I find myself agreeing with you again, totally.
I still feel that if the managerial change is made SOON ( eg - tomorrow! ) and MM were fortunate enough to get the right man, and by that I mean a manager who knows what hes doing and can win back the respect of the players, with 3-4 good signings in January it would still be possible for us to finish clear of relegation and build for next year in the Championship.
But the next two weeks are pivotal, not only for this season but for the next few years, because if MM doesn't act we will be well adrift and we won't have a player on the books who wants to play !

Agree with you on 5 & 6 & 7 points.

Interested to read that Corporal Jones is allegedly pursuing Cardiff for compensation for being sacked. Could this be the answer to the otherwise unfathomable mystery of his not being removed - that he has MM over a financial barrel ?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Quite possible

Agree0 Disagree1

MM is a billionaire - if he wanted to pay him off he wouldn't even feel it !
The problem is MM would have to admit he got it wrong - thats the bit thats hard for him !

Agree2 Disagree0

None of us knows what funds go to make up MM's wealth. How much in disposable income ,how much in assets etc. Remember he is funding Wednesday out of his own pocket. The support he gives costs him personally. If you know how much he has available in ready cash, kindly let us all know.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously nobody will know exactly but there are published figures annually, easy to find. In April 2012, MM listed as having a business worth in excess of £1.2billion , with a reported personal fortune of £102million.
But regardless of the exact figures, the point still holds, £100-200K to pay off Jones wouldn't break him - if he wanted to ! He is trying to save face !
