So Connor has gone back; Ok, unfortunate, but we need to get on with it. We can't rely on other clubs bailing us out all the time (Wickham, Fryatt). We need to move forward and sign a striker on a permanent deal fast! Other clubs manage it (Wells-Hudds, Phillips-Leicester). We always seem to miss out. Why not go back in for Leon Clarke, or Scott Hogan from Rochdale? I know we have financial restraints but if we continuously fail to land a semi-decent forward on a permanent basis there must be something seriously wrong somewhere?

The financial situation at S6 is. this due to low gates, poor marketing, over paid players and agents or other matters. How do other clubs with less income and higher wages afford to attract players

Agree0 Disagree0

I would suggest the financial situation at S6 is a lot simpler than at most other clubs. Because of our recent history we have very little debt to service.
MM will have set out a business plan for how we are to operate within certain financial parameters in accordance with that plan.
So provided we operate within the new FFP rules the situation is what MM says it is, and we can afford what MM says we can afford.
Not passing judgement just stating facts to try to answer the question.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason we can't get the players is that MM refuses to push the club back into massive amounts of debt to chase possible glory like previous chairmen and I think this is commendable. How many clubs at the moment would suffer if there was another financial downturn, quite a few in this league for one. Yes it would be nice to get all these big players and sign them on multi million pound contracts but at the end of the day I would prefer to have a club to support than to have a memory of a club destroyed by debt

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a world of difference between sensible investment, and putting the club into debt.
We are doing neither!

When will Milan learn that this is the risk in just loaning players in. He needs to get his finger out fast

Not entirely sure why people are again predicting doom and gloom now that Wickham has gone back to Sunderland. Yes he scored a few goals for us but we are a different team than when he joined and we are getting goals from all over the team now and I think Maguire has come of age and will fill the hole left by Wickham. Would be nice to get some more cover in the team but I think the team has more than enough as it is to stay up

A good option for Sheffield Wednesdays striker problems could be Leon Best who is available for a loan move from Blackburn Rovers after falling out of favour with Gary Bowyer and the fans at Ewood Park.

The fact is, if we don't bring in a striker before Fridays deadline, we are in big trouble.

We should have used the cup money to buy Dicko who went to Wolves 300,000 grand, he has goals in him and would score at championship level. Hoping midfield now chip in with goals because our strikers just aren't prolific enough.

Bit of a blow losing wickham he did fantastically well for us but its not the end of the world. we move on things have improved no end recently but it wasnt down to one man its a team game. we obviously need at least another striker in before friday but I wouldn't cut my wrists if we didn't get one. its nice to have a squad of your own players. Ps congrats to sufc for holding a reserve team to a draw in the cup.

Bad news indeed, but its the policy we have at the moment. We cannot afford the players so we get them fit and when they start to perform are called back.
We are totally reactive with the team position, not proactive like the top six.
For whatever reason we will not spend the money up front.

Pleased to see Milan was generous in his praise of what Stuart Gray has achieved in this turnaround period.
He also says he believes Stuart Gray has the knowledge and ability to take us towards our aim of Premier Lge and that he will be supported to do that.
That sounds like a commitment from him to move forward, which suggests that there is little likelihood of a takeover anytime soon?
I hope that also means that he has realised we can't make any lasting progress with 90% loan signings, and that we have to build a squad based on a nucleus of decent OWLS players if we are to achieve his re-stated aim of the Premier Lge.
He could make a show of intent by trying to sign Wickham, but perhaps that's too much too soon - but we can dream!
