I am absoultely sick tonight.

If Le Fondre was one of our main targets, will someone please tell me for the love of god why we could not get this deal done for the sake of about £50,000.

I had much faith in Mandaric and Megson - we should have the financial muscle to get this type of deal done. If a Championship club are willing to take a gamble then why arent we.

Why waste money on O'Grady who has hardly had anyone on the edge of their seats - and use the money to put it towards a proven goalscorer despite his goals being in a league lower. The O'Grady deal is a strange one - we had Mellor last year who scored 20 goals or so(i know they all werent in the league) we had talks with him - there was unlikely to be a fee - just higher wages - yet we spend money on O'grady and probably pay him a handsome wage too. I dont understand this football club sometimes.

Then to top it off we lose the most proven scorer in lower league football to someone else for peanuts.

Gutted.

Id be ashamed if I was MM or GM tonight. You have let the fans down.

Fail to see how Megson gets bracketed with MM where transfers are concerned. Megson gave MM list of 9 players. MM & Aldridge decide they will only get those they can get cheap or for free - Megson wanted Mellor & ALF !! How can you blame him ???

Agree2 Disagree1

Already slagging off a player who az only played 15 minutes for us !! get a grip !!! ogrady deserves a chance to impress and see if he can make a differance !!! small minded rant !!! if MM and GM thought ALF was worth half a million quid they wud av got their man weeks ago !! there is bigger and betta players out there for the same money !!!!!!!!!!

Agree1 Disagree3

I must admit ive been crossing my fingers for weeks now hoping ALF would sign for the mighty Owls and have been scratching my head wondering why we sigm the less than prolific O‘Grady for a decent fee but aint prepared to push the boat out to sign a player who has scored over 50 goals in the last 2 seasons albeit in league 2! Championship clubs have been after him so they obviously think he can step up. Im more than prepared to give O‘Grady a chance, who knows, he may be a revelation in the blue and white stripes! But we desperately need another striker to progress this season and i just hope its not a last minute panic buy! People keep on bout Cody Mcdonald but GM said his bids were for lower league strikers, Norwich are in the Prem!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just my opinion. I don't rate O'Grady and Megson has defended our offers all day long - if le fondre was a target why wait until a week before window shuts to offer what we did. Poor business in my eyes.

I'm not necessarily slagging O'Grady cos I'll give anyone a chance but I just think mellor and le fondre would have been better.

You say there are better players than alf for £350k plus £150k add ons. Who exactly are you referring to? If you're on about this macdonald from Norwich then he had one season last year with gillingham where he did well. So who else is there??

has any team in league 1 spent half a mil on a single player ???? me thinks not ! so to slag MMoff for not goin the whole hogg on the ALF bid is daft ! so lets move on from a player who only ever scored a few goals in league 2 ! MM will coff up but only on a player is established in this godforsakan division or someone playin higher !!!! UTO WTID FOREVER

Believable1 Unbelievable3

MM is not going to coff up -- full stop!! if he was going to coff up - he would have coffed up before now . It's like "Catchphrase" -- just say what you see !!!

Agree2 Disagree0

100% agree with ya !!!!!

Agree0 Disagree1

A few goals, you mean over 20 in the last three seasons!

When I posted at least a week ago my observation that MM had lost interest in putting further investment in the OWLS , I was criticised ?? I see a few more posters are now questioning his actions. We could have had ALF last week for another £50k ?? Would ALF make a difference ?? --- obviously Megson and a lot of the fans think so, but we don't sign the cheques !! We are approx break-even on our dealings since end of last season. That is not the ambition that MM was shouting about at the end of the season, just look back at what he said about "taking us back where we belonged" and doing it "sooner not later" .... so why he has changed his mind.. I repeat what I said earlier , I believe MM is looking for , or has already started negotiating a way out . I am not criticising him, its an observation. For me it's the only thing that explains his change of heart. Its not personal for him, its business . Lets face it MM was never going to be here long term ??? AND it could actually be in our favour if a buyer came in who WAS with us for the long-haul ??

no new striker for this weekend's match then, but gm says mm is working hard to get one in, lack of ambition mm, remember being back in the championship is worth 6 million pound in tv revenue, surely that's worth buying a striker for.

hello sheffield how would yous like Glasgow rangers and Glasgow Celtic to play in England?

Believable6 Unbelievable5

No thank you

Agree3 Disagree3

I can't see how it would work and would be unfair on the rangers Celtic fans having to travel silly distances to watch their team

Agree2 Disagree3

They would have to join League 1 cos thats all they are good enough for.

No, they are not good enough to challenege.
