Looks like Mandaric isnt that bothered about bringing players in, Megson once again forced to look in the loan market, biggest club in league and once more settlin for championship reserves.

I would say GM is our best signing in years.

Mandaric is too good a businessman to repeat the dreadful errors of the two Davids, Richards and Pleat. They spent more money than they had and landed us with the double problem of relegation and massive debt. We did not recover from that debt until MM arrived. He will spend what is safe .His call.
We cannot know what the sums are.

To lifelong Owl- MM told us what the sums are , he said he has £5m available for this transfer window (Star + SWFC), still got quite a bit left then ?

What he is prepared to spend now does not represent the sums as a whole nor how they affect his planning for the future.

Partially agree with lifelong owl. Certainly about Dave Richards. And the defending was terrible at times under Pleat. But I've always believed the Paul Cock incident was our turning point. Danny Wilsons inexperience as a manager and obvious disdain for "the two Italians" (who didn't fit his idea of good honest players, despite them being two of the best players we've ever had) meant that he cold-shouldered Di Canio, Harry Redknapp said Thankyou very much, and the rest is, sadly, history. Throw in a 0-8 at Newcastle, a trio of very expensive Scotsmen with barely a 100 appearances between them (R.I.P Phil O'Donnell - not your fault you were injured, you had a nice left foot) and there you have the pivotal moment.
Oh, and nice one Dave Richards. Sack Big Ron as a bit of revenge and then mozy on over to the FA and forget all about the club you supposedly 'loved'.
P.s I'm not bitter, I just drink it.

Very accurate recollection "bitter drinker" .
We discovered too late that Dave Richards was a man with a mission - we thought it involved the club but it turned out to be ..... All about Dave !!
Let's hope we are not making the same mistake again ??

One further point - I think the fact that he was nominated for his knighthood by then Sports Minister , Richard Caborn (A BLADE ! ) says a lot about what he did for (to!) the Owls ?
