Even Leon Clarke has signed for Swindon. Is there anybody out there who wants to play for The Owls?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Not being funny but would we want Leon clarke back did you seen him play talk about headless chicken that can't kick

Agree4 Disagree0

I agree, but do you remember when we loaned him out to league 1 when we had him, think i scored 8 in 7

Agree3 Disagree0

Their defences must have been poor worst striker I have seen in a owls shirt ever only other player that could not kick a ball was lee chapman good job he was good with his head end of day no point panic buying we need a team that is going to last we have only been debt free for 8 month still early days yet it will come sooner or later the better we get the more better players will want to play for us and if you learnt anything from last season it isn't going to be easy like some fans think

It seems to me that Mandaric is not completely behind Megson MM obviously has money but dosen't seem prepared to spend it and get us moving forward We paid (rumoured) around £350,000 for O'Grady who i think scored 9 goals in 49 games last season but he is not prepared to bid more than £250,000 for Le Fondre who has scored 56 in the last 2 seasons and already has 3 this season We are playing the ugly route one football because with the players we have that is all we can play 2 big tall strikers and no wingers Bids for 7 different players in the last week or so seems like we are panicking already, with ALF playing like he is it is adding more to his value every week and alerting more and more clubs to his ability. We have left it too late i believe and whoever (if anyone) that comes in between now and the end of August is more than likely gonna be a rushed panic signing and we will probably not benefit from it in any way what-so-ever I hope i am proven wrong and that we do all get surprised by us signing ALF AND another winger but judging by the way GM always talks in press conferences/interviews etc i am afraid we will end up with neither and end up watching ALF score 20+ goals again this season for Rotherham or whoever is fortunate enough to snap him up Rant Over

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Everything you say is right. Ask yourself WHY he doesn't want to spend? I can only think of ONE reason which I've already posted earlier , any other ideas ?

Agree0 Disagree1

Without MM we wouldn't have a club anymore.

Agree2 Disagree0

Nobody is disagreeing with that, we're all aware of that and will be eternally grateful to him . The question I'm asking is WHY did he buy? Do you think it was because he's secretly been a closet OWL all his life ? OR was it just good business? What has he got planned next ? I believe it's to make a profit on his investment - ASAP ? It's the only way to make sense of the close season --- unless you have a better explanation ? The NORMAL thing to do would be to protect your investment --- if you are in it for the longer ride ? But on balance he has hardly spent anything - despite promises to the fans buying season tickets, and Megson that he would invest in a team that the fans deserved ? What's changed in a few weeks ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally throwing money about isn't the answer. GM gave Milan a list of 9 players he would like - Bennett, jones, Semedo, prutton, Lines, O'Grady. Maybe Batth. 7 out of 9. I would imagine Mellor, Le Fondre would have made up the others and where the majority of the money was going to be spent. I don't recall MM ever saying I'm going to spend "millions" but i do remember him saying there will be money made available. We know he will sell the club for a profit but I disagree that he will do that immediately unless there is a huge offer which let's face isn't going to happen and I don't think he is under any illusions. GM is fully aware we a very light up front but what can he do - every club has a wage ceiling - even Arsenal & Man Utd do. GM chose the players he wanted - MM has delivered the majority - I firmly believe that before the window shuts we will sign a striker we have been after. As for selling season tickets - I bought one the day after the renewal came out - I have a feeling just after Christmas bur can't remember it was that long ago - announcements of how much he will spend and we will buy him don't interest me - I love Sheffiled Wednesday and I'll be there no matter where we play or who plays for us. Forget the boardroom now we have suffered enough thinking about that - concentrate on supporting the players we do have.

Agree2 Disagree0

That's OK so long as you don't join the ones "baying" for Megson's head when we don't win every game. The players we've got are the ones MM was prepared to get, not all were on the list of nine. (In fact only 3 were on that list- believe me) if you accept that MM is not going to invest QUICKLY in the team - then you can't expect RAPID progress?? I can live with that so long as it doesn't result in a string of conscientious managers being sacked ---- as usually happens with MM . Just look at his track record & don't expect him to treat the OWLS any different JUST BECAUSE IT'S US There's no sentiment in business (& MM) he'll be gone turn of the year --- which is coincidentally when all these loan signings run out , but I'm guessing you noticed that already?

were to offer neil mellor 8k a week and 2 x pie peas and gravy at half time (free) to lure him to hillsborough

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit extravagant with the pies aren't you---- we're not made of money

Agree1 Disagree0

Besides Mellor wouldn't eat peas, far to healthy

What o earth is going on. We are debt free, but can't sign Jack Sh*t, and we are playing like amateurs. The scummy Blades are millions in debt yet they have brought players in and have won 3 out of 3. It's official, we are the laughing stock of Yorkshire. Well done MM

Double swoop two strikers bryant & may 39p may have to stretch our budget though

Believable2 Unbelievable0

They'd be worth every penny , I've heard they're a match for anyone

Another frustrating week and despite the disgusting performance mid week MM and GM are still yet to show any real intent of moving forwards and out of this division

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Anyone who believes GM doesn't want to move us forward doesn't know him, but he needs help and SUPPORT from MM

Megson's article in Star / Yorkshire Post today makes it plain that MM's cash is NOT available to build a successful team (despite his promises before the season tickets went on sale ?? ) Work it out, he has spent about £350k and got most of that back from players out & wages saved. He doesn't have any problems finding money for "Executives & Back-office" staff does he? I predict the OWLS will be sold on for profit before this season is very much older --- it's the only thing that explains why MM wouldn't INVEST in the playing side NOW . Give me a better explanation if you can ??

Believable3 Unbelievable4

That is frankly a ridiculous idea: who would pay Mandaric more than the amount he has already invested in paying off debts and investing in the playing side earlier this year. Mandaric needs future revenue flows to make these initial investments worthwhile

Agree5 Disagree2

You should remember the valuation of the club was over £30m , MM paid c.£10m to settle all the debts we were told. The club is now financially sound. Whether MM would profit from a sale is beyond doubt, all he needs is a suitable, interested buyer

Agree4 Disagree0

I think OWLS are a real bargain for anybody for £20million & that would be double-your-money in only 12months for MM .

Agree4 Disagree2

He has invested behind the scenes because we had NO behind the scenes to make this club work. The previous regime were worse than useless - the appointments he has made give the club a stable footing - without the infrastructure the business fails and the club ceases to exist. Look at everton - the bank won't give them anymore money so inevitably they have to make do - if they have the staff and I'm sure they do the business will succeed, however if they have a board like we did who don't pay enough attention to the back office they will go the same way we have done. MM and GM won't be held to ransom either - they need to get a player who wants to be here for the right money and wages. If it was me I'd give ALF & Mellor what they want and Koumas et al but we have a club to protect and by God we don't want to go through what we did for the last 15 years under the previous shambolic excuse for a board

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm the last to condone even starting down the road to ruin again BUT nobody has yet responded to the point that ---- MM promised to invest in the team before the season tickets went on sale and SO FAR he is approx BREAK EVEN on transfer dealings. THAT IS NOT INVESTING so it's certainly NOT breaking the bank I say again the ONLY logical reason for HIS course of action is an imminent sale for maximum return. Give me another LOGICAL explanation ?

With over 300 players on the PFA Free Agent list, who are desperate to play, why on earth are we struggling to fill the slots that we have. Sod looking at average players who want David Beckham wages, and are only coming for the money. Look at players who would be grateful and proud to put on our shirt.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I'm sure they are being looked at , but I'm guessing they are not free-agents who've been released from their previous clubs because they are all hard-working, highly- skilful, super-fit, tee-total, and above all for MM -- cheap
