Gary Coulibaly has signed a deal with bournemouth, so will not be joining the owls

rhys mccabe - this could be his season highly rated player could make the difference he will get plenty of assists from set plays I reckon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wrong Coulibay this was not guy on trial with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Coulibaly has been on trail with us this is another Coulibaly and on his profile it says they expect him to sign for us after the trial

Agree0 Disagree0

Double check mate, he's a striker. The one we've got is a midfielder

I don't think Wednesday look as strong as they did
at end of last season!
Cant see much happening! I didn't expect much
but did think we would sign up a big lad and smaller quick front guy! instead of Rodri and Cog from first part of last term or Howard and Lita from second part of last season!
Don't seem like they are even going to do that!
Very disappointed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too people keep going on about how Milan saved us but now he's penny pinching and leaving us behind other clubs in terms of strengthening our squad ask your self this Milan is there any point in taking one step forward and the two back we had a good second half of season we now need to push on and invest get your wallet out ASAP

Load of rubbish this post is,, prob a school kid or sumat,

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been a wednesdayite since 70s had mates who no longer go for prices etc I can't afford a season ticket usually pay on day but seen ticket prices for next year, I usually go in can't by the way £31 quid for categary a games well you have done my empty pockets Wednesday, will go but not every home game its just not worth it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Prices are higher, but so are the outgoings of any club, some fans simply can't afford to go others use it as an excuse. Fact is if we were in the prem they would be higher as per costs of Policing etc, don't think for one minute MM or board are trying to rip fans off, but outgoings have to be covered by incomings or we will be back where we were, in a mess. Before I'm slated, I know if prices were lower SOME more may attend but will it be enough, sorry but sometimes perspective has to be introduced, an Owl since 1967.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why a school kid because we don't share the same views I guess when I'm payin my match day admission I have a right to feel cheated when I see no investment you want to get real yes he saved us and I like every other owl is grateful but the blind loyalty sum show him is a joke there's teams with less revenue and attendances beating us too players because he counts every penny

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sayin throw silly money around but we need to improve our squad as early as possible to give the staff time needed to forge a winning side

Agree0 Disagree0

Op here not wanting to fall out but
my point is: I know money is tight
But Does anyone think we are stronger now than at the end of last
season? I thought we would have got
some of the guys who helped us at
the end of last season! We wern't world beaters but we got good results!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yerhh school kid,, the window has only bin open 10 dayz or woteva! Jones has already said he is getting 5 more players! The development squd is starting to look good, we are in the championship, we have had a year exsp in the championship! The younge player are going to get a more of a chance this year! What more do you want?? Look at were we wer ova the years,, u should b gratful and get off there backs! Were doing ok n so is MM & DJ! You need to get real, not even many other teams have got any players in yet,, n MM has already said there is the january window as well, depending wot we need and were we are! I am totally happy with were we are and wot is going on,,,

Agree0 Disagree0

Only fools rush in.
We have signed most promising guy we had on loan last year, when others arrive yes we will be much stronger than last year. In last 25 games we were 2nd best team in league. So yes we were strong in second half of season, if we only improve 5% on this we will cause problems for all teams.

OP! I am not phoney and I am realistic!
I am glad we signed Helan! Lots of potential a bit raw but a good signing! Just need fill in the Howard and Lita gaps and maybe another midfielder then we are OK I think!
I hold my hand up if I was wrong but at the time of my OP we looked weaker than end of last season but this is the type of thing I wanted to happen! to continue the progress that occurred as the season wore on!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hers my bit.
Anybody who posts comments on here are Wednesdayites (usually).
Each poster is allowed free speach, even if they only go to one game a season.
We are all here for the same reason, to see what is happening to our club, who is being let go, who is signing ect.
Stop slagging people off if you disagree with there post, because your post might not be reasonable to others, but you don't get slagged off.
Negative comments are welcome just as much as positive, that's because if we all thought the same, there would be no reason for a banter page, right?
SWFC is ours.

Alex Pearce?

Speaking with a friend of mine who works for a football agency he says one of the biggest problems this year is that chairmen of clubs especially in the lower leagues are inflating the value of there players more than normal to try and increase their clubs earnings under the new fair play rules. This he says could bite them in the a*se as clubs don't want to spend the extra money so they are left with an unhappy play that wants to move.
The other way this is a problem is that there is increased interest in the players who are free of contract as more teams look at them as the fair play rules cut incomes so the negotiations are taking longer as the player speaks to more clubs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No just that not as much money is floating round system and even those with money means they have to be careful how its spent. Transfer fees are much lower epect for at the very top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Transfers for unwanted players have been for lower than expected prices as the clubs want them off the books to free up squad places or wages. The fees for players in demand that the chairmen/managers don't want to sell have gone up hence only the bigger clubs are signing players at the moment as they have more free cash in the budget to spend.

What's all this development squad rubbish? We bring in players of 19 and 20 and are told they are for 'The Development Squad'. Why are they not good enough for the first team squad at this age anymore? Too young? Didn't a certain Alan Hanson say of Alex Fergusons decision to play a load of youngsters that 'He'd never win anything with kids' and those kids went on to win the league? May I suggest that if our youngsters aren't good enough for the first team at 19, 20 and 21 then they never will be!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on. We can only hope that DJ will revise his commitment to "maturity" in the coming season and occasionally give some youngster his head. Howard and the like have been effective players in their time but persisting with them at this stage is depressing. Why not give Lavery a game from time to time?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you have missed the point, a development squad is to bridge the gap between academy and first team. The stanard of football and physical requiements have increased markedly over last 25 years with leagues now having footballers from around the world being drafted in. Many of those British players now playing in Championship would have been playing at top level years ago. With most sides in Premiership now having a majority of overseas players the standards of players have increased in lower leagues. Hence step up from academy to first team is a leap. Like everything else change is necessary to deal with new situation and a development squad has been shown to be a useful tool to achieve this. With regard alex Ferguson he was one of first managers to send promising players on loan to other clubs to develop them, Previously loans were for shipping out unwanted players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really hope DJ doesn't occasionally give any youngsters his head.

Comparing us to Manchester United and their youth system is a tad unrealistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think the original poster was trying to suggest a direct comparison between us and Manchester United, but to point out a general principle. The choosing of players from past times is, at best, stopgapping and, Howard apart in his short spell, the signings have not been a spectacular success. In fact, in the cases of Sidibe and Bothroyd they positively hampered pur progress.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I personally disagree because we haven't had the same policy or stature as Manchester United to attract the pedigree of youth players which are an instant success, especially to win leagues.
Therefore, I feel that our club is doing a good job with the development squad and as previously mentioned on this page, things will not happen overnight.

Agree0 Disagree0

OOnly 2 loan signings failed rest were a success. As season progressed and scouting improved players did more effective job. First poster was simply inaccurate.
