had a feeling we would come up short tonight. to depleted at the back. llera is to dodgy for me would play maguire up front with afobe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I must admit I was depressed from the word go today. Praise heaped on the team and head coach. It just had to come to an end with a Danny
Wilson BUMP. Onyewu and Loovens
out leaves us in trouble I think!

Gray Out lol

Agree0 Disagree0

That Wigan game has been doomed from the start, cancelled because of Europa league then abandoned! I'm just glad it's all over to be honest. The next game will be the key game, see if we can bounce back. Unlike we did with DJ.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its difficult team performing two igh tempo displays in short order. Only Lee and Maguire had buzz about them, Maghoma, Afobe, Semedo, Palmer were not as sharp as nomal.
Nuhiu put himself about but lacks composure in front of goal.
I have noticed drop off before when worked hard in previous game.
We missed 3 sitters (Nuhiu 2, Afobe 1) and Maguire shot when should have passed to Afobe for easy chance. We also got their keeper to pull out two incredible saves.
Second goal of theirs was poor defending by us, so you coul argue sloppy at both ends cost us.
Biggest blow Semedo injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Until players such as nuhui, maghoma, maguire and afobe look for players in better positions we are not going to progress. in the last two games all these players have been guilty of this. we don, t create enough opportunities to waste them when they come along. BI

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats just football BI!
Nobody plays perfect football at any level, but definitely not at ours.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is why we need wickham, he's always moving and looking for openings and creating options. We simply don't have a good enough attack without him. Going back to the home game against reading when we had wickham and fryatt we looked unstoppable. That's the difference between bottom of championship and playoff contenders.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbeatable! Based on ONE game!
What convenient memories we have.
We also lost to Blackpool, Derby and Forest with Wickham & Fryatt in side.
We weren't unbeatable then were we?
So perhaps it is a TEAM game after all and Wickham or Fryatt can't win the league on his own.
Perhaps they need 9or10 of our own players to help them?
Might be wrong but I think Reading game was only game we did win with both in side?
Why do some of our fans think that ONE 20yo kid can solve all our problems?
And I'm not saying he wouldn't and doesn't improve us.
But we might never see either of them again in our shirt so please move on and look for the strengths in our own players and not their weaknesses.
We don't have as many problems now as we had a few weeks ago and that's down to one man - Stuart Gray, NOT Wickham or Fryatt.
Gray is our best signing for years, and WITH BACKING I am confident we will progress.
One defeat in twelve is not a bad record with our squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, OMG! All he's saying is we lack quality upfront! Nuihu not good enough. Fryatt and wickham are proven that's what he is saying, why do u feel you have to justify and praise the team all the time? because I bet your one of the negsperts slating the team under DJ! And suddenly now we are the greatest?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, OMG?- so now if you positive against somebody being negative you are a negspert.
Somebody has lost the plot!
Its obvious now what you mean is if anybody thinks different to YOU they get slagged off! And why not use a word that doesn't even exist because then you can't spell it wrong!
Some of our fans don't seem to be able to stick to the actual game, and tactics, and performances etc.
It has to be Marshall fetish, or Wickham envy, or Fryatt fancy, just don't get it?
Why not look at the bigger picture, yes Wickham was finding the back of the net, but that was mainly because the team are playing better, and that shows because even without CW we've been scoring and the goals are spread around the team as well.
So take the Conner pictures down off the bedroom wall and move on. Support the lads actually wearing the blue & white instead of the daily lusting after one sat on a bench in Geordieland wearing red & white.
If and when he pulls our shirt on again we can treat him same as our lads!

Agree0 Disagree0

So we don't need quality up front then? Nuihu on his own and Maguire out on the wing? Come on surely u must know we need a striker? I know we are playing much better and looks better to watch but we need to take more chances, we miss so many!

Agree0 Disagree0

Never said we didn't need more quality up front, blind man in a fog can see it!
But every team in the world is looking for a "goalscorer".
A goalscorer is somebody who is scoring goals, what is he when he is not scoring?
Is Fernando Torres still a goalscorer, he's only averaged a goal every 4-5 games since he went to Chelsea, a third of what he scored at Liverpool or Madrid. Decent midfielders score more than that and we've seen him miss sitters in last couple of years that Nuhiu would have scored!
CW had a great spell of scoring when he was here, but there's no guarantees he will pick up where he left off if he comes back! In fact history, odds, and sods law says he won't.
What winds me up, is most of our posters think there's only one player in the world able to solve that problem.
And that player is not one of ours and never likely to be - so how can he be the answer?
We have to find another way?
Even if we do get him back again on loan, and great if we do, we still have to find the permanent solution.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best should be decent for a few games until he can't be bothered anymore.
If he scores a couple of goals during the next month, I would be happy.

Times are relatively good right now but Woods, Hodge, Pressman, Bolder & Springett were international class keepers. Sheridan played in a World Cup and was 10x more creative than Kieran. Palmer could break up play and get box to box adding his fair share of goals. McGuire is on fire but is no Bannister, Varadi, Hirst or even McClean. Let's enjoy while we can but not get carried away. The current team is giving us everything but is work in progress at best. UTO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree but we were fortunate to see all the players you mention.
Anybody under 35yo not really seen that many quality players in the blue & white stripes so you can understand the joy at the moment.
I think our biggest star at the moment is Stuart Gray.
I am already convinced he has come of age as a manager with perfect timing for us and we are going to reap the benefits.
I've seen enough BAD managers to be able to recognise a GOOD one, and what he has done with our squad is remarkable. I hope MM, and whoever replaces him, give him some support and let's see how far he can take us!

Agree0 Disagree0

Different league and class, but I enjoyed watching Marshall a few seasons ago.
First time we had an exciting I winger since Waddle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like you say different league and class, totally.
Waddle destroyed the best in the world for over 10yrs!
Marshall not yet guaranteed a place in a Champs side at 22yo?
Proves what I said earlier that a half decent player been looking like a world beater down at S6 in recent years.
Wickham same, half our fans think he's a world beater.
For me he's a half decent player who can do a great job for us and hope we get him back on loan, but I'd put money on him moving from club to club making a decent living at the game, but he won't go on to be a great - unless he signs for us permanent then Stuart Gray could make him great!
But to be fair Waddle was unique.
We've had many top intl wingers on the books down the years, some real crackers too, but Waddle was a different player to all of them, and any others I've seen. Had a style of his own!

who needs Mourinho we've got stuart grayeo

Agree0 Disagree0

We had the Ginger Mourinho and now we have the Grey one.

Agree0 Disagree0

When it comes to players old the older generation, I would like to see Hodge in goal, with full backs Worthington and Nillson, with Nigel Pearson and Des Walker as centre halves, midfield John Sheridan, Carlton Palmer, Danny Wilson and Chris Waddle, up front Di Canio and Hirst. That was a team I would pay double to see, but today's team has got me thinking of safety and has bricks to build on. I can only say I still support the team and for the first time in a long time the Manager. I often wonder if M. M. thinks he delayed too long in sacking Jones, but as time goes by we will see. GOOD WORK STUART AND BEST OF LUCK.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only player in recent years who when playing for us would threaten some of players we had in 90's was Scott Carson who was unbelievable when he kept goal for us when on loan.

In addition names mentioned above Dalian Atkinson. Benito Carbone, Mark Chamberlain, all had lots of talent. John Harkes who ran and ran and was a key part of team are worthy of mention.

Used to like Peter Shirtliffe and Emesron Thome at centre half. Dan Petresscu was not a bad full back either.
