I don't see why the age thing is an issue, obviously we don't want to become dad's army and sign a whole load of ageing players, but if we think of the bigger picture, what kind of player would lavery be if he gets 18 months learning the finer points of an andy johnson type, I for one would love to see Kevin Phillips come out of retirement for one last year

Likes of Andy Johnson and Andrews would be of no use if promoted, think we are trying to bring players in who could form part of premier squad. Players over thirty more prone to injury and take longer to recover. Johnson has long history of problems. We play high tempo game not suited to older players. Not all players are good at passing on skills. A few reasons why younger players required.
