I'm as excited and optimistic as anyone, but a young lad with promise, a big lad with a decent touch who couldn't hit a cows bum with a banjo, a likeable hard working jock, and the new Wayne Rooney from a country I can't remember, do they really make a strong strike force? Its a funny old game though and hope to be wrong.
Maybe my half full glass is just topped up with realism but the devil of doubt sits on my shoulder warning me that I've seen and heard it all before.

I seriously hope we don't sign Kyle Lafferty there is no way he is any better than what we already have we need a proven Goal Scorer. I can't see us buying a big money striker though because all the Strikers we've enquired about have all been on loan.

Ben Marshall has already distanced himself from the deal. He himself has said that every year he seems linked to us but nothing materialises. With no formal approach made. I doubt this one but I would love it to be true. UTO

Between 5 strikers, Matthias and sogou have we not got enough goals between them.
Plus, they may already be here with different tictacs being used. 451 isn't going to result loads of goals, playing 442 or 433 will give more opportunities.

If we get better quality ball into the box we might already have a 20 goal striker. I have said before if we can keep a tight defence we only need another 20 to 25 goals more than last season from the team to be in the play offs. Plus we need a better return than 5 home wins, this might happen if we set up at home to attack from the outset.Any way not long now to see who CC picks and how we perform.

I agree with Lincoln, there is enough quality in the side now to create far more and better chances than we did last season. I know we have brought a few in from abroad who are "unproven" in this League , but they are all proven quality footballers. If they have the desire they will do the job for us, and if they don't show the desire they will be moved on and replaced.
With the style of football we are going to be playing , simply because the Chairman has demanded it , there will be far more chances and goals in the team than there has been and inevitably they will be shared around.
As for the 20 goal striker that everybody keeps on about all the time , you can't have one at the start of the season you can only have one at the end! At the end of the season we might have one or two, only time will tell!
Buy one? - Just because Joe Netbulger got 22goals for Melchester Rovers last season doesn't mean he'll do the same in our team with other players around him. e.g. £50m for Torres with class players around him - can't fail can he?
Some will remember ManUtd went all of 20yrs without having a 20goal striker and they didn't do too bad! You can be very successful without one?
What would you rather have - one player scoring 20goals or four players who get 10+ goals apiece. Plus if one of your 10goal players gets injured at start of season there's still 30+ goals there, if your 20 goal man gets injured - you know the answer!
It doesn't matter who gets a winning goal - so long as somebody does!

What I'm really saying is why the obsession with "20goals"?
What if your "20goal man" only gets 19goals , has he failed?
If you have a few regular goalscorers spread through the team but none of them score 20 goals does it really matter?
We only scored 43 goals last season if we get double that, 86goals, this season but no one player gets 20 goals does it matter?
Surely the only thing that matters is "somebody" gets the winning goal?
