Lachman, Bus and Dielna have all been told they can go though they are still under contract.

Lewis Price is having talks with Rotherham.

Dom Howson saying that Wednesday want to make one more signing tomorrow in addition to McGeady, who is having medical tonight.

He also suggests Wiggins might not be the only player moving out.

Graham Dorrans, serge Gnarby or Watfords Adlene Guedioura?

2.) 01 Feb 2016 14:43:57
Most likely Adlene Guedioura, I'm hearing.

Been at club not long hope we made profit lol thing is not good enough for us but good enough for prem apparently he's not settled in Sheffield so he wants move on best of luck to him I say.

2.) 31 Jan 2016 20:24:28
I'd be quite happy to get back the 750K that he cost us.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 14:46:09
Apparently deal worth 200K. We're taking a big hit, if true.
Over 500K loss on a guy who contributed nothing.

4.) 02 Feb 2016 07:14:29
Would rather get an unhappy player out and take a hit on his fee than have him sat at the club taking a wage and possibly affecting morale. It's not like we can't afford it anymore. Shame he didn't work out as he seems a good player, he must be if he hasn't played many games and still moves to a premiership club.

It looks like the end of the Rhodes saga, ( something akin to War and Peace re this site! )

Middlesbrough agreed deal with Blackburn for reported 9 million plus a possible 2 million of add-ons.

boro are too srrong now.

2.) 31 Jan 2016 13:14:58
Apparently we could have and were willing to match what Boro are paying but we were looking for a summer move rather than in this window. We would need to clear out some of our strikers before signing Rhodes, its one area we have a surplus of players and that will be easier in the summer. Ah well, other targets out there and with Hooper and Forestieri, and Joao and Nuhiu as alternate options we don't have a terrible strike force anyway.

3.) 31 Jan 2016 15:59:47
Just when we thought it was all over, it isn't now.
The epic Jordan Rhodes saga continues, as Boro' pull out of the deal.

Norwich manager Alex Neill says he thinks Hooper's future might be decided in the next few days and he is certainly open to him going back out on loan. Does not rule out a permanent deal but indicates extensive negotiations as of yet have not taken place.

Norwich meanwhile are very close to signing striker Steven Naismith from Everton, though Dutch striker Sebastian Haller rejected a £6.5 million move to Norwich. If Naismith deal goes through it might increase our chances of signing Hooper on a permanent deal.

According to reports in East Anglia, Norwich have put a £3.5 million price tag on Hooper. His contract is due to expire in the summer, and he clearly does not figure in their plans, though I believe they have the option to re-new for one year.

Is he worth the gamble? Would he make the difference to our play-off hopes in view of his recent performances? Should we offer less or move on and perhaps try again in the summer?

Beauchief Owl

1.) 07 Jan 2016 12:02:37
Offer less, I reckon.

2.) 07 Jan 2016 13:48:59
Well looks like bloke that told me a rumour was wrong thank god for that like I said before not worth 8 mil but I still would not pay 3.5mil for him if I was owls I'd hang about extend his loan at most then offer him a precontract agreement if he does start to score.

3.) 07 Jan 2016 18:14:33
He has started showing signs of being a good player, but got a lot more to prove until we spend that type of money.

Two players worthy of consideration, perhaps?

James Wilson, Manchester United, is apparently available for loan to a Championship club.

Royston Drenthe, now a free agent and available.

1.) 10 Sep 2015 11:55:18
Need better than Wilson, people think he's all that because he plays for Man utd, if he scored 3 in 14 playing for Watford he wouldn't get a mention.

2.) 10 Sep 2015 14:17:39
Carlton Cole available on free samoras on a free I know they getting on abit but worth a season deal?

Bristol City have just had a £9 million bid accepted for Andre Gray! Middlesbrough trying to buy Rhodes for £12 Million (having already bought Downing for about £7 million). it's crazy in the Championship.

All of which puts into perspective the sensible approach of DC. Matias, Joao, Mcgugan and Wallace for about half of what Gray will cost and a third or a quarter of what Rhodes would cost.

It also demonstrates the tremendous challenge facing us this year as others such as Wolves, Hull and QPR get their chequebooks out.

One of the problems with a big price tag is the pressure to perform not just from the fans of the club you move to but the media too. I think the new players at our club have less pressure on them not just because of their lower price but also their unknownness (is that a word). The other reason I prefer our approach too is we are not spending lots of money on one really excellent player then having to fill out the squad with much cheaper players, we have spread the money about and got a lot of good players in all positions.

2.) 19 Aug 2015 09:31:43
Good post Beauchief!
Reality is - the UK market is well over-priced.
Our new management recognised this , and other than Wallace and McGugan , they have traded abroad.
This means that you need excellent overseas contacts. Judging by the exciting players we have brought in, it appears that we have this well covered.
Well done Chansiri & co!

without wanting to poke the bear: but does the good business plan, contacts and transfer dealings. which we have to say is a departure from where we have been, does the well done extend to GR
