Funny how all takeover talk has stopped now the action has started!

As long as we keep playing and getting results, who cares? Our defence is second to none, midfield is doing its job and even the strikers are starting to get goals. Last season's younger players are starting to show maturity and we have Stevie May waiting to make his debut. The sale of Michail has left us with as bit of money in the bank to bring in another winger/striker, so things are looking up. The acid test comes on Saturday v Derby! UTO!

Agree mex, Derby game should tell us more what we're about this season. Personally would be happy with mid table without all the usual heartache this year, give us something to build on. As for the takeover, I'll admit I've been one of those that've been lambasting the doubters for doubting, I never thought it would get to this stage and still not be complete. Now the more I read and hear the less likely it looks like it'll happen and I can't say I'm particularly bothered anymore, will just be happy to watch good football and cheer the current set of lads on. UTO (0v0)

Saturday is as tough as it gets in this league as favourites to win title. It will give good indication if we can compete with top half dozen teams in this league.

Nice to see no rush buys but I would still like to see some more players coming in uto xxx

Yeh but Gray isn't the type to just get in a squad filler. He wants to improve the first team!

6.) 16 Aug 2014
I think SG has been clever, May will get goals at this level and our defence and options in goal are excellent. I'm optimistic but only slightly, mid table would do me but in this league that's a tough ask. If your not conceding your not losing. WAWAW

Mid table would be a realistic and healthy finish for us this season.

decent result today, wish I could have been there.

Black dog (first post) I think the takeover is dead in the water; it's been going on for too long to me for there to be any mileage in it and do we need it as badly at the moment. SG has done a brilliant job this summer; masterly.

9.) 17 Aug 2014
2 games done and not conceded a goal, that's a good start when you look at the 2 teams we have played. They are probably 2 of the better teams in championship so well done the lads - keep the momentum going. Defence looking very solid midfield could be a handful for anyone in this division and strikers starting to gain confidence and finding the net more than happy at this point UTO

Totally agree with everything on this thread.
Thanks to the amazing SG, and how he has developed the players, we now have a team who can hold their own in this division.
My "only" concern, and it raises the takeover question again?, is can we expand the squad enough to cope with the long season ahead relying on MMs limited investment?
The team is now good enough but the squad is very thin, a few critical injuries ( heaven forbid) and we could be struggling again.

Have to agree with you howler it is a concern, but I do think we have enough not to be hanging around relegation area this year. I think we have moved up a level UTO

Early days but we look solid at the back and in midfield. We could add a decent winger & a forward on loan then I see no reason why the play offs couldn't be achieved. We should have beat Derby ad with a better forward line would have. Hopefully May will settle in and be ok and we have Lavery to return but Nuhui & Madine aren't good enough. Nuhui has bags of effort but can't score and Madine could score if only he put in some effort!

Not too sure on nuhui comment McLaren said they had real problems trying to contain him (his comments not mine) so it would appear he is starting to cause opponents problems which surely leaves gaps for other forwards UTO
