800k on him! Oh my God first time for ages we potentially have a bit of a transfer budget and we waste a large chunk,if not all, on the likes of him!
If he ends up as our front line attack then another struggle will follow yet again.

Chaz with you on both your posts above and below, Best is not good enough, and the Brazilian is past his sell by date and never played in this physical league, I am beginning to think SG has no ideas on the striker front, we have just been bought by a so called wealthy man who wants premiership football, is it another year of frees and surviving because that is the way I feel its going to go at the moment.

Yes Chazandhaz, I do feel like he is worth a year contract, has I have looked at his stats and experience and as I said on this thread, that his experience could rub on the younger strikers we have. Which you would of thought be progress to the player and club. The problem with some of our fans like yourself is if / when the takeover is ratified, you want to buy success. This dose not always work pal!! I believe building on our players potential is a key to the clubs success. savvi!!

Is as if some fans almost want us to fail. We haven't even kicked off the new season yet. Surely you watched the world cup? Its not about individuals its about the team as a whole. Start worrying and leave the negative comments if we are doing crap at least 5 games in yeah.

If Ross McCormack is worth £11m then Best would be a snippet at £800k. For those people saying he wouldn't even get 10 he got 6 goals in only 16 games last season. I'm not sure what he needs to do. Given a run of games he would be a good signing.

I'm 47 years old who's had a season ticket for over 35 of those so I've seen all the few ups we've had and might I add the many downs aswell.
I'm not and never have been one for advercating large sums of money on sighnings but that said I've never been one for wasting it aswell (probably due to my profession)
All I'm pointing out that IN MY OPINION Leon Best is well past being a 20 goal a season player that just about all clubs need if they are to be challenging at the very top.we've all seen,peticulary on this site,comment after comment of the need for a player who will take the chances the side are making almost on a match by match basis but honestly in my opinion it's not Leon Best!
To say in your words "the likes of myself" wants my club who I've supported all my life to fail is more than offensive and to be honest I can't put down in this post what I'd like to as I'd be kicked off.
In my experience the usual type of person who comes out with such comments are the ones who are what are considered "casual supporters" (AKA glory hunters)and in actual fact contribute zero to the club but for some strange reason think they are entitled to and opinion.
When you've been going and contributed as long as I have then maybe your points would be vallid but somehow I think not savvi?
Oh note for chetowl these comments are not negative they are constructive and are the opinion of fan or fans what contribute week in week out,season in season out and have seen most patterns occur over the years. because someone is not in agreance with everything posted it does not mean they are "NEG HEADS"

So let's say we have a small investment from the new owner as it's clear he is not going to throw millions and millions at it. Who do we buy? As its shown in the past few weeks any 20 goal a season stiker is going to be 7mil + and I very much doubt we will have that to renovate the entire squad.

As for the Age of the strikers coming in I don't see how it matters. If kevin Phillips decided to give it one more year i'd have him in a heartbeat! at 40.

Why are we looking at players way past there best 34 year old striker brondo and asking for more wages anouther season of strugling now wishing I had not bought a season ticket this is not what we were promised thought sg was going to sign players that were going to be able to play sat, tues every week and when is the take over going to happen all we are told is that somthing should happen next week then its the week after

Does that make me a less of a Wednesdayite than you?? I don't know why people say things like " I'm a season ticket holder" and feel that they have rights in what they say, it is silly don't you think?? getting really worried with some of these rumours ie best, andrews, brandao. last ting we want to do is spend a lot of money on wages of players well past their sell by date, who are just lookig for a final payday. best was shockingly lazy last season and that's when he had a contract to play for. let's go for some young hungry players, we've already got plenty of experience at the club. I would be amazed if what Chazandhaz says above is true. In a previous post on Whickham thread he stated "you've no chance of signing him". He let slip his true allegiane with this comment which is not to Wednesday.
Think the above is trying to justify hs negative stance.
Understand we have agreed terms for 22yro french midfield player (Tardieu). Think some of names mentioned are just options we have rather than number one targets.
Brandao not happy with offer we have made which indicates we are not desperate to secure his signature.
Some reasonable understanding about situation rather than selecting most negative aspect would help. The club are clearly functioning and after better quality targets than in previous years, its pre-season and if you are down now you have no chance.
By the way have been season ticket holder for 37 years and can still afford to be optimistic.

Chelt - I agree with you. I don't even think we need a 20 goal striker as we have players throughout the team who can score goals. Say we put all our eggs (money) in one basket and pay out for a 20 goal striker and he then gets injured. Brandao for me looks like he would play the same way at 24 then he does at 34. If a player still has it then what does age matter. Look at Pirlo!

TBH I'm far more worried about what's going on at Lens rather than who we are or aren't signing. I'm really surprised there isn't more chatter about in on here.
I was upbeat about the take over but its getting more and more suspect by the day if you ask me.

What is going on at Lens has zero bearing on us, the president at Lens agreed a figure of £38m with HM, he then submitted paper work to the French FA saying that they would be spending £48 hence the £10m deficit which HM is refusing to stump up.

Can't blame him really, plus!

regardless of that money chances are Lens will not be allowed up anyway as they have to close there ground for the French FA to regenerate it for the Euro 2016 competition.

As it stands the French FA have made Lens homeless and they have had approaches turned down to ground share, so there promotion will be blocked anyway.
