Stuart Gray to finally be confirmed as Manager today!

Star says before weekend, Telegraph says today?
Time will tell - but at least the frustration is over, the players will be happy, and any players we MAY be trying to sign know who the manager is going to be!
That was the bit that foxed me with the wait - surely any players thinking of joining us would want to know who they are going to be working for?

Ok heres what I think will happen (not a rumour )if MM is staying with us he will give SG the job until the end of the season then I reckon he will get Steve Evans to take charge for next year as he is a big admirer

Radio says that SG as said he has got job and that they had tried to get Billy Sharp, that sums it up for me, Stuart hasn't got the charisma to get good players to us, he is a coach not a manager Mr. C

No, we didn't get Billy Sharpe simply because he DOSNT WANT OT PLAY FOR US. WHY? IT'S SIMPLE, HE'S A PIG FFS!

Beisdes how can you question SG's influence on players coming in, he's signed up a USA international with 60+ caps, 2 world cup appearences & the honour of playing for the likes of A. C. Milan, Malaga, Newacstle Utd & Sporting Lisbon so don't say he hasn't the charisma or the influence to bring in good players!

Well, put it this way, we signed him 2-3 days after his release at QPR so there might have been others interested, we just got there 1st. If he can stay fit then we have a great defender to partner Loovens I think!

Listened to the interview with SG with Paul Walker of radio sheffield, he says he expects to be appointed before the weekend, we lost out on 3 strikers this weeks and he said billy sharp was one of them he wanted a move back to Donny rather then playing for us. In my opinion let him go to Donny we don't need him, let's face it, we would all rather see fryatt back at the club (which in the same interview SG states he is looking into bringing him back although he does still make the subs bench) and we all want wickham to extend his stay. Also let's give the kid laverly a run in team very exciting prospect, plays with no fear and works hard. Stuff sharp he's a pig let's forget about him and boo the little guy at keepmout on 22nd march! UP THE OWLS!

Billy Sharpe has turned us down twice in the past what makes anybody think he would come to us.

Firstly he is a fervent Unitedite and that's why he turned us down the first time when we tried to get him when he was at Scunny. He then went to Donny, we tried to get him last season but he choose Reading they were in the Prem.

Secondly he had his best spell at Donny and he was happy there.

Put your club bias aside and ask yourself if it was you who would you choose. A club you hate or a club you were happy at. No brainier to most people.

Billy Sharp has previously said he would play for us. Just because he's a blade doesn't mean he wouldn't do his job (isn't Harry Maguire an Owl?) The reason we didn't sign him is because Donny were willing to pay a lot more of his Premier league wages than we were. Southampton stated earlier in the season that anyone taking him on loan would have to pay his wages.

There's always ONE looking to turn good news in to bad - the bloke has rescued the club from the mess left by that last bloke we had with "loads of charisma"!
I actually think Stuart Gray comes over a lot better than HE did, he's more honest, appreciates the players and fans, and he obviously knows his stuff - SO GIVE THE BLOKE A CHANCE!
Let him get the job and fail before you and your mates start shouting for his head!

Its not sg that signs players its that Paul Aldridge! These days the manger don't even meet em til their first day of training, managers give them a list ov the players they'd like! Gary megson ended up wi players that he dint even ask for I. e mike jones, an that wer the case with Dave jones an maguire, why would he spend that much money on a player an never play him?

In his interview with ssn, Billy Blunt says did everything he could to get a move to Donny. It was the move he wanted most. SG and MM have said that deals had been agreed with clubs and they were waiting for agreement from players. That doesn't sound as though it was about money. Why do people always want to paint as black a picture as they can. We are on the way up let's be happy for a while.

I don't know about M Jones but Dave Jones definitely signed Maguire not MM or PA. PA did the negotiation with Derby and the player but Jones identified him as a player he wanted.

I don't think we will be getting another striker in tbh, maybe a decent loan to come of the bench. I think grey will sign till end of the season and I think we will be more than safe. and that's exactly why we won't be spending much money, were not going to be pushing for the playoffs are we so theirs no need to sign anyone. You have to think of things from Milans point of view, he's looking to sell us, and he needs us to be stable in the bottom half of the champ to do that. and that's what we are as a club ( terrible start but the squad we have is capable) if he values us at say 17 mil and he goes and spends a mil on a player that dusnt mean he can now ask for 18 mil, it dusnt work like that. I love MM don't get me wrong he saved us but the sooner we have a new owner whos not looking to sell the sooner we can start investing for the future and buy a few players for a mil

I agree with most of your points made in last points re new signings, etc. But if we got a decent striker and cmf then would surely climb the table. This could make us a top half championship club rather than bottom half and so would be a higher valued club. Also the higher we fly the bigger the investor we will attract. Even possibly have investors fighting over us. You have to invest big if you want big bucks in return. UTO.
